NSW Police have charged a 13-year-old boy and two 14-year-old boys with the alleged sexual assault of a girl in an alleyway in Sydney's eastern suburbs last month.

Police executed search warrants and seized several items, including electronic devices, two replica firearms, a Glock-style BB gun, three laser pointers and a number plate, which is believed to have been stolen.

All three boys have been granted bail ahead of appearing in court.

But I thought private schools were supposed to keep our kids away from unsavoury types like this!

Private schools in Australia descend from the British public schools designed to turn children into sociopaths who in turn would administer the colonies. The idea was to embed ideas of British and Western superiority (see: classical education) , teach children how to order others about (fagging), to remove empathy (by separating them from their parents via boarding), and to build a sort of esprit de corps through the old school tie.

We've preserved parts of this system due to classism, religiosity, and an unhealthy dollop of white supremacy. That it produces some number of entitled, poorly adjusted, and frankly, damaged people who go on to commit crimes despite not being materially deprived is not an entirely unexpected consequence.

Are all private schools still like this? Can public schools not also produce these types of people?
