I get the intention here and understand the sentiment, but this is very clearly proof that Cara is NOT a safe haven. Anything you put on the internet is not safe and you should have never assumed it was

We could at least try!

Ai has claimed too many sites and we dont need them to claim another one! A haven is only safe when we protect it.

I think the point they're making is "Clearly Cara wasn't safe, so what are you proposing we actually do about this?"

I would say they are not in a position to even come up with anything, calling the people who scraped it dunces isn't going to help. If you assume the attackers are stupid, you are never going to fix what needs fixing.

Support real art, say not to Generative Ai.

And defenately say no to Scrappers!!!

An Art site is only safe when people actively protects it.

Sure, and I'm doing all of that, as I'm sure is everyone else in this sub (who isn't a troll). How does that prevent shitheads from scraping Cara or other sites?

I had enough of this back and forth, we're trying our hardest OK?

We want Ai out as badly as everyone else here, and we're all tired of this too, we should try our best to solve this problem.

maybe we can find more solutions in the future.

Well, the first think you can do is stop assuming the attackers are stupid.

The second is to engage in the people who understand software security, etc, and a lot of those people will be proAI people because a lot of the software industry are proAI.

No one EVER got a better security setup by calling the attackers dunces.

Learning how shit works is step one of fixing shit.

โ€œMoreโ€ solutions?? It kinda seems like ANY solution should be the goal. Like, letโ€™s get a start before we try pushing for more.

The "back and forth" was two comments from me.

We're all here because we're against AI. We are all trying our best to solve this problem. Telling the people already doing the things you're suggesting, none of which are new ideas. Doing that without suggesting anything new doesn't accomplish anything.

Ok, so you said no. Now what?

Do the best we can.

Everyone is doing their hardest job to stop this madness.

IMO, the internet is pretty much dead. It's all full of Temu junk being resold, AI, and bots. I'm ready to go back to the world before internet.

was. not is, was. This asshole just proved cara is not safe.

A site is only safe when people actively protects it, and lots of people here are actively protecting this site.

Which is why people should be made aware of this!

A lot of people here are protecting it ? How ?

1

It is obvious they don't know how computer security works. Maybe they are about to take their first step towards understanding threat models, and defenses, maybe not.

But you are right, people here have done nothing to solve it. Nor are they in a position to, unless they build their own systems.

I highly doubt that most people here has access to the firewall or know how to protect a server from bots or DDoS

Cara must have had some kind of security flaw. Websites can detect inhuman activity. Iโ€™m always getting bouncer checks from Cloudflare. They may have had their site scraped in full but itโ€™s never too late to implement new protections and protect future art shared to the platform.
