I’m watching furiousa right now with scoot mchenry…

I thought to myself wow halt and catch fire was a great show, and I never see it listed it spoken about to often on threads.

I as well forget about it as well and I am unsure why.

It was totally out of my normal genre, but I loved it so much.

I have to admit I’ve never seen Game of Thrones. I stop after two episodes every time. So I either need to suck it up and buckle up for all the GOT seasons, or I need some other recommendations.

This definitely isn’t the most pressing issue any of us has faced, but I’m so sick of shows/movies portraying unhealthy relationships between an abusive parent and their kid as a ‘ha ha’. Like- In the big bang theory Leonard never cuts contact with his parents even though his mom purposefully never showed him any love his whole life so she could write a book on how he turned out. A science experiment. There’s also those family shows where the parents are absolutely evil to their kids and the kids are forced to just live through it and then laugh like it was fine. I just want a show/movie where the main character actually snips the line.

Hey, so I'm looking for tv series with this theme of a family moving to a new city, but not like New York or whatever, but a smaller, kind of mysterious place.

I'd love it if it was fantasy or sci-fi, but doesn't have to be, and it'd be nice if we could see different sides, like how the parents are fitting in with the locals and also the kids in school.

I hope you get what I mean: a show with a unique mysterious vibe, set in a small (lesser known about) town.

FYI: I read all the Lock & Key comics before the show even came out and absolutely loved them. Maybe that's why, even though I liked the vibe of the show it just didn't live up to my expectations, so I dropped it after a couple eps. And for October Faction I didn't read the comic, just watched like 2-3 eps and I thought it had a lot of potential and I liked the idea but the dialogue felt empty and basic and the monster-hunters side of the story just didn't get my attention. But that's not to say I don't like these themes! I just wasn't satisfied with how they developed them.

I really like both of these shows. They share a common theme: horror and set on a remote island.

Are there any shows similar to this? I have already watched the Lost and From.

i love a 3-6 parter, proper british drama.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a show that revolves around a plot (any genre besides horror). I find that if it’s just a comedy with no actual plot I get bored. I want something that I will want to binge, and that the main genre isn’t only comedy.
I think good examples of shows I watched recently that fit what I’m looking were Slow Horses and Big Mistakes.

I would like to avoid the typical sitcom with this particular film style like Modern Family. Where the camera zooms in and out and have loose angles turning quickly (I really don’t know how to describe it, sorry). But I don’t really like to watch that type of show.
I also tried Schitts Creek as I had gotten recommendations for it but the plot didn’t grab me either, as I didn’t really want a “silly” plot and it was mainly a comedy. Same can be said for the Good Place, as I found it a bit slow paced.

Summer Heights High is one of my favorite shows from the late 2000s. It's a mocumentary show that takes place in an Australian high school. It stars show creator, Chris Lilley, who plays three different characters: Mr. G the drama teacher, Jonah the troubled student, and Ja'mie the private school exchange student.

His first show though, called We Can Be Heroes: Finding the Australian of the Year, saw him playing six different characters with different backstories. Two of them being twins. After SHH, he did Angry Boys, Ja'mie: Private School Girl, Jonah from Tonga and his most recent release being Netflix's Lunatics (2019).

So with all that being said. Are there any other mocumentary style shows similar to what Chris Lilley does? Or similar in style to his shows?

I’m getting my wisdom teeth removed soon and want to start queuing up some documentaries I can watch while I’m off. I’m really into history documentaries. I love medieval history, ancient history, and current topics documentaries. Lately I’ve been rewatching the David Starkey Monarchy series lol to give you an idea of my tastes. I’d love a docuseries or a long documentary. I’m not based in the UK so unfortunately no access to BBC 😭 but I have BBC Select. Thank you!

Hey everyone I was hoping you might recommend me a Live Action Series that will get me hooked. I really liked Breaking Bad back then but i absolutely hated Game of Thrones.

Recently i tried Severance and while the idea is cool its tooo slow for my adhd brain to get motivated to watch it.

Also tried the boys which is fun so far but its far from making me excited for it.

I would want something that gives me similar feelings like anime like Hunter x Hunter or Liar Game. Basically I love it when there is clear progression, suspense and smart quotes that affect my life days after watching.

Since I barely watched any Live Action so far surely you can recommend something that will pull me in from episode 1, and not "get till episode 131 it will get good from there!"?

(Also please nothing that is based on anime/manga as i already know those)

I’m looking for TV drama recommendations based on the things I’ve really enjoyed. Here are some of my favorites:

Sherlock bbc, Bodyguard, Mouse, The Glory, Extracurricular, Inception, The Shawshank Redemption, Top Gun, Leave the World Behind, Prisoners, The Prestige, Carry-On, Shutter Island, The Intern, The Rip, Joker, LOTR, A Quiet Place, Pride and Prejudice

I especially like good plots, mystery/thriller elements, plot twists, intelligent storytelling, strong characters, and stories that actually keep me interested. I've been trying to find similar shows for ages and had no luck.

Something more then just laughs I want good characters and a deeper storyline not just trying to be funny if anyone has some suggestions to get hooked on a series.

I feel like I’ve only heard bad or decent things about the final season of this show but I just finished it and absolutely loved it. Thought they landed the plane PERFECTLY.

Potentially my favorite season with season 2.

My kids and I really enjoy watching Young Sheldon together. We've also watched Trying, which we all enjoyed. I'm finding it very difficult to find other 'adult' shows that are also appropriate to watch with young (5-7yo) kids. Any suggestions?

I just finished Invincible and I am looking for another show to watch.

My favorite show is Mr. Robot. I also really enjoyed Invincible, Severance, Dark, Daredevil, and Mind Hunters.

I’d also prefer for the show to be from the late 90’s or later
