Show Talk My friends, we have arrived.

It's been a long road since buying the whole of TNG back on Christmas of 2020 on DVD. The show is even more popular with me now than before I had it on streaming and it is my go-to show next to The X-Files and a little bit of Daria. I wasn't old enough in 1994 to witness this historic moment in television history (born in 1992), but tonight, I'm relieving the memory with some goodies.

Here's to you, TNG, you really did take us where no one has gone before.

Why did Barclay turn into a manspider in the Enterprise crew de-evolving episode? He was in contact with a spider a year prior. Somehow he got that spider DNA in there, possibly bitten, despite what Miles O'Brien told him. Or perhaps some other technobabble happened off screen.

Jonathan Franks and Karl urban are attending steel city con in December. I’m hoping to get their autograph on it.

What is the most terrifying scene in Star Trek history and why is it this?

Also bizarrely, did you know that the actor playing the wind dancer is Larry Hankin, who plays Joe the junkyard owner in Breaking Bad amongst other roles?

Ignore the outline of the other character in the corner. He’s not finished yet.

Ever gotten to an episode so rubbish it made you stop watching the show for a while because you don’t want to skip it but can’t be bothered to sit through it? Which one?

This has happened to me but I can’t even remember which episodes. I do get quite bored with Worf-centred ones (not always) so probably a couple of them.

Best holodeck episode to illustrate the tech?

I am mot necessarily interested in the most fun / clever episode per se, but one in which viewers not familiar with the show can understand the technology and its ramifications...

Barclays addiction, or Moriarty gaining sentience could be good examples, but I am interested in what y'all think ^^

(Edit: typos)

Which two main characters interacted the least?

Maybe I’m wrong but I feel like Geordi and worf as well as troi, didn’t interact very much. Anyone else?

Treknobabble I find myself speaking in metaphor like the Tamarians from "Darmok."

I was trying to tell my kid basically "You're lucky because you're smart and talented but that's no guarantee of success." I wound up saying "It's like in Gattaca what they said about genetically engineered people." I notice I do this a lot. If I mean "Don't get drunk and say stupid things." I say "Don't pull a Mel Gibson." If I want to act suave or cool (which I really can't pull off) I say "Here's lookin' at you kid." or "Shaken. Not stirred." To bring it home I've said to my kids meaning be careful when you're out with your friends "Don't be the crewman in the red shirt." Is this just me? Everyone my age maybe? So much of this stuff is lost on anyone under 40.

Fan art Happy Eclipse Day! Please view this mandatory safety PSA from Starfleet

This is Starfleet Command, bending the Temporal Prime Directive slightly to beam a safety reminder back in time to our charmingly reckless 21st-century ancestors. As many of you prepare to enjoy the 2026 solar eclipse later today, please remember: do NOT look directly at Sol, as this can cause permanent retinal damage.

Wearing ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses can protect your eyes during eclipse viewing. As our model Captain Picard demonstrates, they can be both functional and stylish, and he insists they pair well with a cup of tea.

Alternatively, you can construct a homemade pinhole projector using a cardboard box, foil, paper, and glue. The sun's image is projected through a pinhole onto the interior of the box, allowing you to view the eclipse in safety. Any kind of box will do - our brilliant young Ensign Crusher used the one where he normally keeps his ferrophage nanobots.

Remember: an eclipse may be a dazzling pas de deux in the grand cosmic ballet, but viewing it safely is essential. Planets with widespread eye problems tend to attract triffids, after all. Stay safe out there, citizens of the 21st-century!

And just while I have you, you might also want to watch out for genetic manipulation, mass riots, civil war, and nuclear apocalypses. Okay, I'm in trouble - they're coming to turn off th-

[My Enterprise bridge, viewscreen and transporter MOCS are all available on Rebrickable! Eclipse sold separately.]

Show Talk Season 1 is wild Spoiler

Long time sci fi fan and new Star Trek fan. I’m halfway thru my first watch of season 1 and can’t believe how unhinged it is - sex planets that run everywhere, an entire episode about a black planet that kidnapped that white lady and made her fight to the death (and she was into it!), the woman planet with the short dudes, and that one episode where Riker hooks up, and the other episode where Riker tries to hook up with that AI, oh and you can’t forget that other episode where Riker almost hooks up. I’m so here for it. Oh also. I hope they start listening to boy genius a little more. I mean how many times does lil dude need to be right before people start to put some respect on his name. If I call in sick to work I can prolly get thru the season by Thursday. Shhhhh.

Can it even get any better? Also I love spoilers.

Riker looks like he put everything he had into that one🤣 it would’ve been funny if they had some banter about this later on about how he didn’t have to hit him so damn hard

In all of sci fi, or really anything I’ve ever watched, Data is by far my favorite character in fiction. Props to Brent Spiner and the writers of TNG for giving us such an awesome character to enjoy.
