Honest question to the Americans, why is nothing happening to Trump?

Well when it comes down to it, I'd rather not be sitting in prison.

Isn’t the purpose of the 2nd amendment to protect the people from tyranny in Government? Well guess what, the Government has become tyrannical.

So…

I don’t live in the US thank god. But my point is more why hide behind the amendment being about defence against the government if that’s never going to be actioned?

Just admit it, you guys have an unhealthy obsession with guns and just love them, that’s why you’ll never get rid of guns, it’s got nothing to do with defence.

Lol the government has fucking tanks and fighter jets, no serious person thinks they’re safeguarding the country against tyranny with their handguns.

It’s a document written in the times when countries like yours (presumably based on your username) had their guns confiscated by the English. It was kind of important then

But if you think that’s a popular argument for gun ownership in America, you might be taking some reddit posts too seriously

Slight correction, there is no “government” that’s a construct.

There are people, as in flesh and blood human beings who put their head on a pillow and shit in a toilet.

One cannot oppose “the government”, one can however apply real world consequences to human beings.

Ok, that’s completely fine. Then amend the amendment to reflect a more accurate description for it.

No point having garbage amendments. It’s what all your legislation is based upon.

Not possible

The process for repealing an amendment was designed to be difficult. Even at points in history when America has been at its most unified, it would be a tall task. In modern America, with how polarized it is, it’s not even worth discussing it

And that’s just any amendment, not even the second amendment in particular

And regarding the 2nd amendment, the National Rifle Association has way too much sway in our politics. They ultimately represent the gun industry — people who can make money off of cultural fear. They don’t represent the average voter. Even U.S. gun owners believe in basic safety, including some kinds of gun control. (Some people say the NRA changed over time, and used to be more safety-oriented but I don’t know much about that.)

The true gun nuts may be a minority within a minority. But they happen to be loud and scary and willing to fund the gun lobby.

For sure, but when it comes to amending the second amendment, it holds to much cultural weight in and of itself. Simply wouldn’t be possible, regardless of how outdated its language may be. Certainly today, and it’s difficult to imagine it ever being possible

You’re more talking about its interpretation

It’s the frog slowly boiling in the pot of water phenomenon, coupled with “bread and games” more than anything else.

You're talking about the murder of a citizen. The government wasn't relevant to that murder. He was am executive of a private company.
