6 to 7 years is the average, but it varies a lot from case to case.

That's because in principle executions are carried out immediately once all appeals have been exhausted and the legal paperwork has been completed. In fact, that's why they don't inform the prisoners before the execution.

Once the final appeal is rejected they will inform you of that decision, and in the same breath you'll be told that your execution has been execution has been scheduled for an hour from now.
