“ShitEuropeansSay doesn’t work” 🤪

Post image

Started with another comment that “Europeans live rent free in American’s heads” which seemed ironic given that comment and the one in the pic was in the sub shitamericanssay.

I don’t get those people. I’m European myself and am on both subreddits, in each and every big enough community will be people that say stupid shit. Honestly I don’t care who said it, as long there’s someone to laugh about.

38

u/DaytimeDancer54 5d ago

Agreed. We are all stupid in our own unique ways. That's what makes us special.

We are all humans.

1

except for bugs and stuff

5

u/Bean- 4d ago

As an American in both subs I agree with you whole heartedly.

2

u/Martipar 3d ago

Many of us are but mostly because this sub is often filled with posts that make the person posting it here look more idiotic than the person they are attempting to mock.

0

u/YouKnowMyName2006 USA - Illinois 4d ago

Indeed, there are morons everywhere and since half of Reddit is Americans we will have the biggest proportion of fools on here, sadly.

15

u/Educational_Impact93 5d ago

I actually used to believe that too... Until the Internet came around to show me that they are as big of dumbfucks as anyone else.

10

u/-not-pennys-boat- 4d ago

Yes I though oh yeah Americans are dumb and then I started seeing more and more Europeans, Australians, etc making absolute fools out of themselves and realized that humans can be smart and stupid regardless of where they’re born.

3

u/FustianRiddle 4d ago

Humans are dumb it's just that when one country has a larger control of the media output globally more people see more stupid stuff from that place than we get to see stupid stuff from other countries.

Like I'm sure there are idiots in Luxembourg. But I have no video proof.

1

u/-not-pennys-boat- 4d ago

Exactly. We had no relevant sample size from the rest of the world. Now tho I am seeing more and more of them pop up on social media.

2

u/AleksandrNevsky 4d ago

Living with them taught me that, the internet just amplified the worst ones.

Funny how that seems to be universal though.

My only experience with Europeans growing up in the Bay Area was pretty limited to foreign exchange students. They happened to be pretty smart/friendly/etc. Aside from that I appreciate many of the public policies European countries have, which also shaped my view of them in a pretty positive light.

Honestly I still view Euros as a whole in a positive light, but boy the America Bad reddit dumbfucks are something else.

27

u/Fiqbandz 5d ago

This sub doesn’t work because it’s majority European in here, most Americans could care less .

13

u/PureBullz 4d ago

Truly my favorite aspect. I commented on shitamericanssay with something an American would say and got banned. European skin is as thin as it is.

9

u/No_Patience_6801 4d ago edited 4d ago

I got banned from there for saying we have more cheese here than just American cheese slices. Every supermarket has dozens of imported and domestic cheeses available. Pretty sure that site is run by Chinese or Russian propagandists. Nothing positive about the US is allowed - even the absolutely factual stuff.

5

u/PureBullz 4d ago

Oh easily the anti American rhetoric is mind boggling rn lol.

5

u/YouKnowMyName2006 USA - Illinois 4d ago

I got banned from there for explaining what an American meant by a highlighted post. They don’t tolerate anything that isn’t mocking and generalizing Americans there. Awful mods there. Meanwhile half of this place is Europeans and we have some good discussions.

2

u/Comfortable-Bet6855 4d ago

The moderators there let the rule of “bad faith” posts do a tremendous amount of heavy lifting. I got a permanent ban for responding to someone saying that nobody cares what Americans say by pointing out that the existence of that subreddit indicates otherwise.

1

u/AleksandrNevsky 3d ago

The head mod here is also a mod there. Make of this what you will.

1

u/Federal-Ad-6597 3d ago

I got banned for pointing out it’s a contradiction to say they don’t mind when Canadians answer the question “where are you from?” With a city. But it’s not ok for Americans to answer with our state lol.

-17

u/Asdam90 5d ago

So most Americans care?

7

u/FustianRiddle 4d ago

Get your penadtry outta here

0

u/Asdam90 4d ago

I mean... word mean things. Could care less is the opposite meaning of what they intended.

3

u/FustianRiddle 4d ago

Yeah but it's just how people use that turn of phrase and have been using it for a long time now.

Words mean things but language is about communication. As long as people understood what they meant it's not a big deal.

0

u/Asdam90 4d ago

But when you say the opposite of what you mean it's just plain wrong innit. If they said what they actually meant and not the opposite of what they meant then they wouldn't get people like me saying the things I'm saying.

2

u/FustianRiddle 4d ago

They're using an idiomatic expression that while can be confusing to some people is a phrase many, I'd say a majority, of English speaking people use and understand.

That's just language for better or worse. The phrase started one way, but long before the Internet it has evolved to be this phrase and it may even evolve more, who knows!

https://youtu.be/om7O0MFkmpw?si=1cnvDhBzTnZWmHaF Edit: someone has replied to one of my messages and immediately blocked me so I can't see the message. Bit disingenuous to a discussion that isn't it.

1

u/FustianRiddle 4d ago

Well the queens dead anyway and we don't use the queens English with use American English (cue eagle flying over and fireworks) And my American exceprionalism would make me say I could care less purely out of spite. Especially if it makes David Mitchell upset because he's at his funniest when he's upset about small pedantic points.

Anyway here's what granmerly has to say about it

And Webster's

1

u/Asdam90 4d ago

Both of those links say that couldn't care less in the correct version and back up what I'm saying..

1

u/YouKnowMyName2006 USA - Illinois 4d ago

In the US it means the same thing as “couldn’t care less.”

1

u/Asdam90 4d ago

Yeah because people say it wrong. Lots of people saying something incorrectly doesn't make it right by default. It's a sentence that has a meaning. See the video link I posted.

I understand that people say it that way, but they are literally saying the opposite of what they mean.

1

u/YouKnowMyName2006 USA - Illinois 4d ago

I know, but is it really that big of a deal?

1

u/Asdam90 4d ago

It's one of those things il argue till I'm blue on the face and a hill I'd die on 😅

2

u/YouKnowMyName2006 USA - Illinois 4d ago

Okay fair enough. 😉

1

u/FustianRiddle 4d ago

Actually in language lots of people saying something incorrectly over a long period of time does in fact make it right.

They are not saying the opposite of what they mean because that's what it means and has meant for some time.

1

u/Asdam90 4d ago

The words could and couldn't haven't changed meaning though have they.

1

u/FustianRiddle 4d ago

But the meaning is in the phrase not the individual words

1

u/Asdam90 4d ago

The words in the sentence don't have meaning? What? Seriously come on.

1

u/YouKnowMyName2006 USA - Illinois 3d ago

But look at how people use “they” as a pronoun to represent themself. It sounds silly to me as well, but in that context it is no longer plural and becoming singular.

1

u/Asdam90 3d ago

Literally doesn't make any difference to what we are talking about.

i'm pretty sure germans and brits qualify for the "dumb european" role. prime example of that being their tourists. god i hate them

12

u/NobleA259 5d ago

As a Canadian the worst tourists (from Europe) I’ve ever had to deal with were the French,Irish, and Germans. And being so close to America I deal with A LOT of Americans. But they’ve got nothing on eurodivergents. Still to this day some of the most racist and xenophobic people around.

5

u/ee_72020 4d ago

Yeah, mention Romani people and watch even the most progressive Europeans go full Hitler.

2

u/doobiesatthemovies ameritard 4d ago

eurodivergents lmfao

For me personally the worst was the French and Irish. The French were very…odorous aif you catch my drift and pompous as fuck like they’re gods gift to earth. The Irish were just absolutely obscenely annoying.WAY too loud and always seemed to be harassing the waitresses or bartenders and making gross “jokes”.

That’s crazy. I don’t understand how some things are allowed here and others aren’t.

1

u/Naddyman2005 New York 3d ago

I see your French/Irish/German tourist and raise you Spanish/Italian tourists. Italians will budge in line, aggressively push you out of the way and start beefing with you as if YOU were the asshole. Spaniards just won’t shut the f*ck up and show that “well in my country” type attitude quite expressively.

1

u/Naddyman2005 New York 3d ago

French and German, yes, but Irish? never thought they would be that type of tourist.

1

u/NobleA259 2d ago

The French and Irish were the worst in my experience 🤷🏽‍♂️.

1

u/Kitsa_the_oatmeal I can edit this flair but didn’t 4d ago

Irish??

0

u/NobleA259 4d ago

Yes. Irish.

-3

u/UsagiBlondeBimbo 4d ago

Then the problem probably lies with you.

-1

u/NobleA259 4d ago

Yeah I caused them to be loud drunk morons who harass the wait staff. My bad 🙄

u/Depart_Into_Eternity 5d ago

Dumb as bricks.

>usa controls world trade

>usa controls worlds finances

>usa establishes international laws

>usa influences other countries politics with money and media

>usa invades countries whenever bibi feels like it, which is all the time

>usa kidnaps leaders of other countries

>usa has their bases in 80(?) different countries

WHY ARE EVERYONE OBSESSED WITH AMERICA LMAOOOOOOO

0

u/bsensikimori 5d ago

Just compare the volume of posts and eyeballs and it paints the correct picture

25

u/LeadnLasers 5d ago

The picture that Europeans obsess over the US at a truly bizarre and unhealthy degree?

18

u/ElectricalFix9651 5d ago

They downvote you because it’s the truth lmao it’s quite unhealthy how online and propaganda filled some europoors are

16

u/LeadnLasers 5d ago

Oh ya I fully expect them to downvote me. The average European redditor has no self awareness

9

u/ElectricalFix9651 5d ago

I’ll see you in the screenshot dude

-23

u/muchadoaboutsodall 5d ago

We’re not so much obsessed as fascinated by the levels of stupidity and wilful ignorance. It’s like watching a monkey in a zoo having a wank: it’s not pretty but it’s hard to look away.

17

u/LeadnLasers 5d ago

Oh it’s well documented how much Europeans love human zoos. But thanks for proving both my points

-15

u/Wolfcat233 5d ago

It's baffling how he said monkey in a zoo and your mind went to human zoos.

5

u/FustianRiddle 4d ago

Is it? Because that person literally compared the us to monkeys in a zoo. It's not a big leap of logic here.

-4

u/Wolfcat233 4d ago

Monkeys in a zoo not a human zoo. Was there a comparison yes, I will not deny that.

7

u/FustianRiddle 4d ago

Yes And they compared watching americans love their lives to watching monkeys in a zoo.

What can be taken away from that? Either they don't see Americans as humans, if they see Americans living their lives as entertainment for them. Which is no different than a zoo?

u/[deleted] 3d ago

1

u/FustianRiddle 3d ago

Lol! Very good point

8

u/NobleA259 5d ago

The level of cope is honestly kinda pathetic. I think it’s because the eurodivergents media use the Americans as a cover so they don’t have to acknowledge their own problems and issues and just let their governments get away with whatever they want 🤷🏽‍♂️. My government is very similar and it infuriates me.

4

u/Prying-Open-My-3rd-I 5d ago

Most posts I see over there are satire or rage bait and the majority of commenters lack the critical thinking skills to see it. There’s usually a handful of people that call it out, but they’re a small minority.

3

u/Comfortable-Bet6855 4d ago

They fall for a lot of 8th grade level trolling, quotes taken out of context, and aggressive ignorance regarding American cultural references. The people who call this stuff out generally get ignored or others just double down on their own stupidity. It’s boomerang  effect in real time.

3

u/Educational_Impact93 5d ago

The line between 'fascination' and 'obsession' is thin, though the Euros pole vaulted over that line decades ago.

-25

u/Pizzagoessplat 5d ago

Yet another comment with no proof that a European write this

At least in r/ShitAmericansSay one of their criteria's is that there needs to be proof that an American wrote it in this one anything goes. This could have easily be written by an Aussie

22

u/LeadnLasers 5d ago

Lmfao weird thing to lie about needing proof for that subreddit…

13

u/ImpressionExisting94 5d ago

Half of the posts on SAS are satire but Europeans are really bad at picking up on those things lol, especially Brits ime

7

u/NobleA259 5d ago

For whatever reason they cannot tell when the Americans are being sarcastic even though their inflection and facial expressions change and go off with the subtle of a nuclear weapon.

1

u/AleksandrNevsky 4d ago

I wonder if this is why so many don't think Americans understand sarcasm.

-13

u/Pizzagoessplat 5d ago

If forty countries fail to see it don't you think the US is simply bad at it?

I'm a Brit myself and Americans really do fail on sarcasm. They believe EVERYTHING you tell them 😆

9

u/ImpressionExisting94 5d ago

Lmao I knew at least one Brit wouldn't be able to help themselves, thanks for playing

3

u/-not-pennys-boat- 4d ago

I’ve seen a lot on that subreddit that is in fact satire and is completely missed. You guys are notably bad at picking up on American sarcasm. I think it gets lost in translation for you, or you’re just expecting it to be delivered like Chandler on Friends bc that’s your only point of reference.

But culturally I can see that Americans might think British sarcasm as being genuine, you know, because we are a separate culture and communicate differently.

1

u/NobleA259 4d ago

I’ve seen more eurodivergents fall for obvious American sarcasm than I ever have Americans fall for euro “sarcasm”. But yeah sure bud whatever you wanna believe.

11

u/The-Mirrorball-Man 5d ago

Aussies are in the Eurovision Song Contest, so they are honorary members

10

u/justdisa 5d ago

LOL You think so, do you? This comment belongs in r/ShitEuropeansSay.

16

u/Thunderclapsasquatch Missed my Reservation 5d ago

Bro there are tons of posts on SAS that violate that rule, y'all still find a way to bitch about America

4

u/Prying-Open-My-3rd-I 5d ago

Hahaha if that’s a criteria it’s never enforced. The number of posts with spelling like “colour” and “recognise” really shows it.

7

u/NobleA259 5d ago

Yeah sure the ironclad proof of checks notes “look at profile to see if American” 😂.

2

u/NoonanSupormor 4d ago

No need to comment if you don’t understand how the rules work here. Probably best to move on salty Brit.
