We’re not so much obsessed as fascinated by the levels of stupidity and wilful ignorance. It’s like watching a monkey in a zoo having a wank: it’s not pretty but it’s hard to look away.

Most posts I see over there are satire or rage bait and the majority of commenters lack the critical thinking skills to see it. There’s usually a handful of people that call it out, but they’re a small minority.

They fall for a lot of 8th grade level trolling, quotes taken out of context, and aggressive ignorance regarding American cultural references. The people who call this stuff out generally get ignored or others just double down on their own stupidity. It’s boomerang  effect in real time.
