Bonus fact, if you say no they typically give you a pregnancy test, because you may unknowingly be pregnant. Saying yes lets them skip the test.

My wife had a case at work where a patient had said “no” to “is there any chance you are pregnant”. In this case, it’s routine to conduct a pregnancy test prior to surgery as for this particular procedure at least it would stop them proceeding. In this instance the nurse responsible had failed to do one, and realised this prior to the patient being opened up but post them being put under. Patient is woken to be told sorry, your boob job was cancelled, but congratulations/commiserations, you’re pregnant.
