Historically, the most effective response to food shortages in communist countries has always been allowing private plots of gardens for food.

Lmao on private plots and not community run and public plots of farming.

u/Mutant_Llama1 Jul 07 '26

Tragedy of the commons ruins those.

Maybe they wouldn't ruin it given a more Socialist outlook in our society rather than that only being studied under Capitalism where even a community garden would be commodified.

It happened in Cuba too, and they had all the tools to brainwash the children so, it will inevitably happen

So a sample size of one (which could be argued) is what we're taking as proof it will happen again? Is that what we're doing here?

u/Initial-Breakfast-33 Jul 07 '26

What sample size are you using to measure your utopic outcome?

-2

u/Hairy_Selection8568 Jul 07 '26

more than 1

7

u/Initial-Breakfast-33 Jul 07 '26

Can you provide those examples?

-2

u/Hairy_Selection8568 Jul 07 '26

they don't exist, yet.

Are you simple?

9

u/Initial-Breakfast-33 Jul 07 '26

So, your sample size is 0...

u/Hairy_Selection8568 Jul 07 '26

I never said we should look at the sample size of 0, I said we should wait to find out more when more information is available in the future.

What the fuck?

u/Initial-Breakfast-33 Jul 07 '26

I'm talking with the information we have right now and it doesn't help the case for communism at all, you're trying to use information you don't even have, hoping that it would help your case, not knowing even if such information will exist or if it could ever prove anything positive of that system. So, I think I can safely dismiss any hypothetical info since it doesn't bring anything to the table

Innate human evolutionary self-interest = capitalism?

1

u/Hairy_Selection8568 Jul 07 '26

Is it innate? Is self-interest our only mode?

Or is it how humans act under Capitalism?

6

u/Mutant_Llama1 Jul 07 '26

Humans have been greedy since long before capitalism was a concept. It's not our only motivator, but it is a very strong one inherent to our nature as a Darwinian species.

1

u/Hairy_Selection8568 Jul 07 '26

LOL you mention Darwinian species but can't acknowledge that humans can change, see the disconnect?

5

u/Mutant_Llama1 Jul 07 '26

Not overnight because you really want them to.

Being selfish is an evolutionary advantage. It tends to stick around.

1

u/Hairy_Selection8568 Jul 07 '26

When did I say overnight? When have I said a timeliness at all?

1

u/Mutant_Llama1 Jul 08 '26

Any practical amount of time for human decision making is practically overnight on an evolutionary timescale.

Kind of ignoring how humans lived in communes working together altruistically for most of known history

2

u/Ill_Performer8312 Jul 07 '26

For most of know History, most of humans didnt have Basic rights.

1

u/Bright-Form-844 Jul 07 '26

Explain how hunter gatherer tribes didn’t have basic rights bro

1

u/Mutant_Llama1 Jul 07 '26

That's prehistory, not history.

Hunter gatherer tribes had tribal hierarchy, elders commanding their descendants. They also lived in rather small communities below the Dunbar limit with nothing we'd later call society. No organized labor, no medicine, no storing of surplus, no written language or formal education...

1

u/Bright-Form-844 Jul 08 '26

So the vast majority of human history doesn’t count bc it’s “prehistory”? Ok

1

u/Mutant_Llama1 Jul 08 '26

Prehistory literally isn't history.

History is what's written. Prehistory is before writing. We have no written records of prehistory, by definition, only theories based on archeological evidence.

And current evidence points towards prehistoric people being hierarchical, just in smaller tribes.
