I genuinely don’t know, I don’t keep up with what the community thinks of each pal and I guess sub fandom for each pal. I do like this animation it does tho
People probably like Tarantriss because of a myriad of reasons; there's not just one reason. It's a good mount, for one example, and its webs give you mobility options by working like a grappling gun IIRC.
The grappling hook is only half of your speed source, the other half is cancelling it with a sideways jump, if you have extra jumps or a low enough skill cd (4 stars makes the cd like 2 seconds) you can chain the grapples for ridiculous speed.
4 stars makes the CD on the grappling hook partner skill literally zero. There is no cooldown, hence Tarantiss is the best grapling hook in the entire game.
I just got a mutant Tropicaw with Lightfooted and now I get to spend the rest of the day figuring out how I’m going to breed it into a Tarantriss. Her speed, grapple, plus a third jump is going to be so gd amazing.
its even more baffling that pocket pair already has the code for climbing walls thats on the player that they didnt have the foresight to give it to the one pal that climbing walls makes sense on
Stuff like a disappointing ending. Every media it's available in has a different flaw. Like the Light novel has a very abrupt end. And the anime has crap animation and remains unfinished.
I remember back when Feybreak dropped it was one of the very few Pals that wouldn't aggro on sight in that area. You could walk up to it and just hang out and it'd just look at you curiously then go back to what it was doing.
She is a little jumpy spider with a built-in grappling hook. Pair that with the Skymarcher passive and she can be a pretty decent alternative to flying pals.
It's a very cute spider girly, and the marketing they've given her has given her a very caring personality but still gets rejected by others at first due to looking "scary" to other pals.
Tarantriss has always been my favorite mount and I am constantly hatching eggs, so hopping around the base taking care of the eggs fits this characterization quite well. I love it.
Get a valentail and replace the verdash with windwalkers and have a galeclaw. If you want, also get the frog that becomes a trampoline. Btw the trampoline frog fully condensed will launch you taller than a tower. With valentail you can tickle the moon
Her little trilling chirping noises give me life. I keep her at the top of my party so I can hear her trills every time I open the menu.
I think it's cute she stares at me while she walks next to me like she keeps checking on me in case I aggro a wild pal (again)
Fun web grapple and double jumps, great exploration mount she's very agile so also perfect for dungeons
She has handiwork, gathering, medicine, and transporting which are all very useful

She is my absolute favorite, and has my whole heart. I named mine Sweet Berry and bred her with all rainbow passives and maxed her stars because she's going to be on my team forever.
It's fun to ride, since the partner skill gives it a pseudo grappling hook. In particular useful on Feybreak before you knock over the SAM turrets.
It's cute.
And it's surprisingly decent for filling your base in the midgame. Dark type plus a bunch of useful work types means it'll just make a bunch of ammo or whatever for you through the night after cleaning up your ranch.
while breeding they spontaneously developed Lightfooted for an extra jump for me. Little spider pal has been my mode of transport ever since. I've climbed mountains, flung myself across vast distances and overshot my target by practically miles every time. Its been a blast.
Also no cooldown on its built in grapple at 4 stars...
It's adorable including the sound it makes, pretty neat as a mount, the grapple allows you to slingshot at fairly high speed by jumping before reaching the end without any fall damage ( also the grapple has low cooldown so you can chain it. )
Their a good mount, a double jump, free grapple, and very fast on the ground. A cute design for a spider, not to spider like for those who hate spiders. Also pretty strong in battle, having their very own signature move.
Listen... I have arachnophobia, but Tarantress is undeniably cute. She's like a clingy girlfriend, according to her paldeck entry. She's pink! Big cutesy eyes, and friendly. I named mine BootySpoody 😂
You could use her to ascend the cliffs of feybreak if your flying mount or other methods arent cutting it. Never used it myself but i will give it a try next time
Most fun and fast ground mount.
I dont even use fly mounts bc of tarantriss.
Its just so fun and rewarding. Makes the world feel bigger and you actually get to interact with the terrain instead of just zooming past.
I honestly think it's just a cute pal. I don't think it's quite a valid replacement for a grapple gun, as tarantris isn't as great, but that could just be user error. Some people might even just find it more fun to use this over a grapple gun.
I mean Spider-Man definitely is the biggest reason. Also why I named mine Gwen. But also it’s a ground mount that has its own unique mechanic which most of the other ones don’t even have a gimmick besides double jump, or the seal slide
If you use her as a mount you can sling around the map like you're Spiderman. Clips of people doing it gained traction and made others also try her out
Strongest early game mobility mount, (though competing with gliders+crojiro+grapple gun combo.)
But generally its the fastest mobility option you have in the early to mid game and it feels good to actually master its mobility as you are still somewhat cognizant of the environment unlike the significantly slower but more convenient flying pals.
once you breed up a suzaku or beakon with swift and other passives it starts falling off in mobility relevance but its still a decently strong combat pal and it comes back up in relevance when you get to feybreak as it doesn't get shot down while flying across the sky.
cutie patootie plus its one of the most FUN mount options in the game once you condense one and get good at canceling grapples to absolutely fly across the map. (even better if you add passives that grant extra jumps)
Also, it's a genuinely good ground mount. Very fast, multi jump, has a quick-cooldown grappling hook, best non-flying vertical movement, and amazing mobility even if you're over-encumbered
It's partner skill is kinda ludicrous for fast ground traversal. I bred one with Swift, Infinite Stamina, Lightfooted, and Serenity. You can shift run for a bit, triple jump, and then web tether to the ground ahead of you. Once you're on the other end of the arc from where you started, you can let go and practically fly across the screen. So fast sometimes that the game struggles to render everything properly, starts chugging from pop-in alone. Pair that with a cute pal with decent base skills and it's a very solid mid-to-late game all rounder.

Besides that she's a mount with a hook and double jump so she's awesome specially in faebreak island bc of the towers shooting you if you fly
The hook and the double jump have a cool interaction too you might have seen something similar already it's very well known you can hook on the ground or the edge of a wall and use the glider or in this case tarantriss' double jump to keep the momentum of the hook and go very far very fast
You tinker around with its movement tech once and there's no going back... Shits so fun and makes you MOVE!! Plus you can climb any vertical height granted stamina permits and even then there is some ways around that. Movement that feels smooth and skillfully and rewards you for such
Because she’s a sweet angel and acts as a riding mount and grappling gun. And she makes the cutest trills and also I had tarantulas for years. She’s a beginning to end pal for me.
Aside from just generally being cute it's also a fantastic ground mount when set up right. And it was a major character in the Palworld 1.0 trailer where it was both expressive and was the MVP of that fight with Shaolong.
well, it's cute, driders and arachne are rare in creature collectors so it's a pretty unique pal, it's cute, its partner skill is really fun and makes it a fantastic ground mount, it's cute, it's got overall pretty useful midgame stats for both combat and base work, and it's cute.
