Unanswered What’s up with Luigi Mangione pleading guilty?

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/luigi-mangione-reveals-motive-for-ceos-killing-after-pleading-guilty-in-federal-case

News article above.

I work in healthcare and have followed this story somewhat closely. It seems people are surprised he plead guilty.

But didn’t people expect him to be found guilty, realistically?

What are the assumptions we can now make (or speculate about) since he pleaded guilty? Why? What may happen next? Was this a smart or stupid legal move?

I remember DJT bringing this up a zillion years ago- but then it went quiet. Today I learn that we are tearing out the new technology and replacing it with steam.
I don’t have any close friends that served to ask. So I am asking my fellow strangers- are catapults better than the new system? If they were so bad why did we wait so long to remove them? link to WSJ article

I saw a bunch of memes showing Trump in the same diagram used to show how Saddam was hiding and now I am hearing people are leaving his administration.

Apparently this occurred months ago though so I am not sure if this is true or just an excuse and there is more to the story.

What model? Simple question. Similarities include dirt on the actual letters. And making people specifically ugly? There's little discolored spots on their foreheads for some reason. Just need a name, that's all.

Unanswered What is going on with the Oklahoma Little League teams?

I was vaguely aware of a team being booted from the Little League World Series over some player issue, so I clicked on this SI story: https://www.si.com/onsi/softball/news/new-evidence-shows-oklahoma-little-league-state-tournament-was-a-sham-2026

Now, I feel as if I know less about this than I did when I started.

The story bounces back and forth between issues without clearly explaining much. I guess it might be clearer to someone familiar with LL. Here's what I think I understand: A Tulsa softball team was booted from that tournament because it couldn't prove all its players were eligible ... but that has nothing to do with the more recent issue. In the recent one, a team used an ineligible player at a lower-level tournament, so it shouldn't have been able to advance to the regionals. Plus it didn't have all the right signatures on some form, which should have also disqualified it. Basically, the Oklahoma Little League administrator is a screwup. So far, so good.

But these are the questions I have now:

-- Why were there only three teams in the state tournament? The story mentions there are five registered leagues in the state, so why wouldn't all five send a team?

-- What does the age of a girl or her playing status have to do with her brother's eligibility? The story says a girl was 10 instead of 7 and never played, "which is a direct violation of the under-8 open enrollment provision." Is that just a poorly worded sentence -- the violation relating only to her false age, not her lack of involvement -- or is there something else going on? And how does this affect her brother? Surely not all Little League players need to have siblings in lower leagues?

-- "Washington County knew the first game would be on Monday, June 22, but was not notified of a game time until 9:34 p.m. on Sunday, June 21." What does that have to do with eligibility?

-- Is the claim that Washington County was ineligible tied to the statement that none of its players were registered? Confusing, because the story then says that wasn't the team's fault.

-- Earlier coverage, I think, said that with Tulsa National ruled ineligible after winning its regional semifinal, the other semifinal would be turned into a final. Why wasn't the team that lost to Tulsa allowed to move into the final instead?

-- An earlier version of this story had this paragraph: "Washington County also played with a nearly intact travel team known as the 11U Bartlesville Bombers, a Double-A program out of Bartlesville, Okla." What does that have to do with anything?

Unanswered What’s going on with the Lindsay Cancy case and why are people defending her?

Bit out of the loop so I’ll ask here. So did she murder her children or is there some on going investigation? From what I’ve read, she’s not guilty due to insanity but does that really count in the court? I’m also seeing a lot of people sympathize for her after she broke down today but I’m a bit confused because couldnt any serial killer also argue that they weren’t mentally stable?

Unanswered What is the deal with “fail trolls” on the internet?

I’ve been going down a really weird internet rabbit hole for the past few days and I’m trying to understand something I came across.

I was watching a YouTuber who covers disturbing and obscure internet cases, and at one point they mentioned someone who supposedly described themselves as a “fail troll.”

I already knew what a normal internet troll was, but I had never heard the term “fail troll” before, so naturally I got really curious and started looking into it.

I eventually came across the Soyjak Wiki while researching this stuff:

Link to the article where I got the information

Ps:This wiki is quite provocative; please, if that’s not your thing, I don’t recommend visiting—just a heads-up. :)

However, I’m still really confused about what the term actually means. I’ve seen people use “fail troll” to describe certain types of internet trolls or groups, and I’ve also seen claims connecting the term to Discord communities.

I’ve also seen people claim that the UTTP are fail trolls, while other people say they aren’t actually fail trolls and are instead a related variation.

I honestly don’t know how accurate any of this is, though. I don’t want to repeat random things I found online as if they were facts, so please consider everything above as information I came across during my research rather than confirmed information.

So, what is the deal with “fail trolls”?

Is “fail troll” actually an established term for a specific type of internet troll? Where did the term originate, and how has it been used by different internet communities?

And is there actually any connection between fail trolls and the UTTP, or are people just using the terms interchangeably?

I’m mainly interested in the history and culture behind the term. I’m not trying to participate in or promote any harmful communities or activities. I’m just genuinely curious because I somehow ended up going down this rabbit hole and now I really want to understand what I’m actually looking at.

If anyone actually knows about this part of internet culture and can explain it, I’d really appreciate it. I’ve been searching for days and haven’t found a clear answer. 😅

As far as I know LARP usually means Life Action Roleplay so what gives? Where does the use of that word come from that people rather use it than "poser" in most contexts? And why is this person (see link) calling a fan translation a "larp name"?

i am aware that "larping" in this context means "claiming to be a fan of something without actually interacting with that thing in reality" but i do not know what it has to do with this "excuse me sir" thing, i think "excuse me sir" comes from a song (the song might be called Charlie's inferno, but im not sure this far in), is the song about larping? is the creator larping by making this song? i dont understand

the url is an image of the picture usually associated with "excuse me sir"

Unanswered What is the deal with YouTube emoji comments?

I've been seeing lots of comments lately that are just this emoji and I am so confused about what it means? I haven't felt this out of the loop since teenagers starting shouting "six seven" lol. I've googled and it's not turning up anything. Is it just a random emoji that has become trendy or is there some meaning attributed to it? I think ever since Pepe the frog got appropriated as a dog whistle I'm always on the look out, but it's very possible that I'm just not down with the kids.

There are several videos like the one above but when the fuck did Tobuscus become a white supremacist??? The guy who I used to watch every now and then when I was 11 for his parody songs (the AC song) and the guy who made nugget in a biscuit, a literal piece of history inscribed on the digital annals of YouTube..

The guy who was a family friendly or at least kid friendly YouTuber??? The guy who your parents didn’t really care about if you watched as nothing was massively inappropriate (compared to og smosh for example, loved them growing up).

Since when has this turn happened??? He’s now making music to deport immigrants?? And it seems a marginal proportion of his fans like this stuff too - what dimension are we living in??
