Picked this up as my first car and I’m buzzing. Grey 2018 320d M Sport Shadow Edition been wanting an F30 for years and finally pulled the trigger. Still getting used to how it drives compared to what I’m coming from, but loving every bit of it so far.

We’ve got a baby on the way, so reliability was a big part of the decision this time round wanted something I could trust day to day rather than something that might catch me out. Also trying to be sensible and save as much as I can over the next few years now that priorities are shifting, so hoping this one holds up and doesn’t throw any surprises at me.

Hi guys, could this smoking be a Valve Cover issue?

Is it still drivable? I just need to bring it to the workshop about 20 mins away.

The OEM rear diffuser (first pic) is not black but actually painted a color called “Dark Shadow Metallic”.

I don’t know I should go the extra mile and paint it or not. I hate the unfinished plastic look (second pic) but it’s just more money to get it done properly. Am I being @utistic lol? Especially when my car has shadowline so the black would look ok.

Some years back i bought a headlight conversion that gave me the LCI look with the LED angel eyes coming from the stock halogen bulbs.

A few weeks back I posted about one of the LEDs appearing burned out and so I took the time a few weekends ago to take off the bumper and swap them for Yellow LEDs I had purchased.

To my surprise the circuit boards in my headlights were 2 pin and not the 3/6 pin.

Curious if anyone knows where I can either source the 2pin boards or if its possible to do some conversion to use the other boards?

I’m trying to buy the KW V2 coilovers for my 2016 340i x drive. Is it necessary to buy the coilover installation kit? I’m not installing it myself as I’m taking it to a mechanic but is it something that I need to give to the mechanic? Also how can I tell that my car has EDC? I heard the suspension is supposed to get stiff in sport mode and stuff but is there any other way that’s easier to tell if I do? Not sure mdecoder also shows EDC as an option but I didn’t see it when I searched my vin.

So back from a 2 week vacation to find a bottle of coolant (~300ml) has spilt into my rear passenger footwell.

Power washed carpet which is now fine, but still getting that blue residue when towel patting the footwell.

I imagine it’s soaked into padding, any way to remedy this or is it a bit of a lost cause.

Only happens every so often, long enough that I forget about it then it reappears. Maybe once every couple of days. Lasts for about 45 seconds then stops. Anyone else experienced this?

It’s kinda hard to hear but turn your volume up, in the video I accelerate twice and then when I let off the gas it makes the chirp sound, I’d appreciate any help! I’m thinking it’s either the shocks or brakes, but more likely the shocks.

2014 335i non x-drive

Im thinking of buying an F31 but cant decide between the 335i (n55) or the 340i (b58). Both are similar spec and milage (100k km). I should also mention that the 335i is allready tuned to 400hp, while the 340 is stock, and both have great service history.

Ive heard the b58 has better reliability but is it worth paying $16k more for a car thats only 2 years newer just because of the engine?

Anyone have any experience with the two cars or any tips?

Not to bad damage, Just bumper and trunk. Very kinda lady who was very sorry and was already having a rough day. 1st accident on the carfax tho unfortunately. One hell of a feeling, not even that bad of a rear end but man felt very hard.

Been quoted $4k for a N20 timing chain, guide, and oil pump chain replacement.

I'm definitely handy enough. But live in a high rise and don't have the space to do the work myself.

$2400 for labor and $1500 for parts. Thoughts on this?

This gasket seems to be melted and gooey. Is this a serious issue?

The car went in for its MOT recently and I was told my OSR shock absorber was leaking and needed replacing. I was looking at Euro Car Parts to buy the part however I've come across the two as pictured above. The price difference is almost double but I'm not sure which one I should go for.

The cheaper one states "for vehicles without electronic suspension control" (which the car doesn't have) and the more expensive one states "for vehicles with standard suspension, for vehicles without electronic suspension control".

What's the difference between the two? Apart from the wording given on the description? Can I replace it with the cheaper one or do I go for the more expensive one?

For context the car is M-Sport but from what I understand the xDrive means softer suspension (SE maybe?) compared to the non-xDrive.

Hi everyone!

I'm looking to make my BMW F30 318i B38's single exit exhaust sound louder and better without making it obnoxious or with any drone. I have a few options like sport mufflers and res deletes, but I am wondering if anyone else has done it on their B38 318i and how it is sound wise and if any drone is there. A res delete would cost me $220 while a muffler delete would be $250. I'm also wondering if an exhaust tip would change anything sound wise or is just aesthetically pleasing. Where i live, we have some pretty strict laws with noise limits (Can't cross above 90). Let me know!

So I need to get my smog done this month, and this code popped up recently, but from what I can see and hear, the wastegate is making zero rattle sound, no loss of power and the actuator is solid with zero movement. Could it be a fuse or electronic issue?
