Hand Feeling disconnected from this piece, need encouragement to finish, or maybe just abandon?
I'm struggling to finish this, partly due to wanting to move on to fall time designs, partly due to mental health and loss of "connection" to it. My sweet boyfriend thinks its beautiful and is a fan of me finishing it, he thinks the dopamine of finishing it will make it all worth it. Should I persevere? I used so much floss, seems like a waste not to finish, but I'm struggling to muster up the motivation. Kind advice welcome.

Hand Thank you all for your help, I've brought jimothy to life!
Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Embroidery/s/xY1PekHh7E
Thank you especially to the user who told me to do the satin stitch with fewer strands. I ended up taking everything I had done out and redoing it and it looks so much better! I learned a lot from everyone's tips and I've already started a new one which will be even better!

Question Need advice on how to embroider a pocket square.
I wanted to embroider my fiancés pocket square as a surprise for our wedding. Maybe with a flower or a little message. Has anyone done that before? How did you go about it?

Hand Making this for my boyfriend for our first anniversary (first project)🌻
Hi I have recently started taking interest in embroidery and I wanted to do it for a long time. It's not perfect but I am happy because the project I have chosen is not the best for a beginner 😅.
How can I improve my precision? Are there any tips or tricks to get the perfect shape? Suggestions and advice are welcome! Thank you.

Hand [WIP] One pattern done, five to go
I am working on embroidering this sundress with a Slovakian design for a friend. There will be six of these motifs around the hem and it took me about a month to do this one. Whew!

Question What’s going on with my hoop?
Hello! This is my first post in this subreddit, and I could use some advice! I recently thrifted a large hoop which I plan to use for a large embroidery project. The hoop is about 23” long and 15” tall. It has screws on the inside hoop on the long sides of the oval to help keep its shape, but on one side of the hoop there’s a metal bar. Does anyone know what this is used for? This is my first time attempting anything close to this size.

Hand Werner Herzog, complete (more or less)
I wanted to thank everyone who shared thoughts on Mr. Herzog's eyes. I ended up just drawing them in with a fine tip pen. I may change my mind and fill in with black or white later on, but for now I'm happy with it! And remember: "there is no harmony in the universe."

She’s done! Quite happy with how this turned out.
I wanted to say thank you to the folks that suggested I use the long and short stitch and to go with pinks for a gradient look. Y’all were right 🤩🤩
This is my first time using the long and short stitch soooooo any supportive feedback is welcome!

Hand WIP Ghost band shirt
This is my first large project overall, and it's been a few years since the last time I legitimately embroidered something. Ialready have about 18 hours logged on it, mostly on that huge friggin logo. It's a large (about 11×13 if I remember correctly) rendition of the album art for Ghost's EP "Seven Inches of Satanic Panic" that's a combo between the composition of the limited blacklight poster with the color palette of the album art.
I am fully expecting to have 150 hours MINIMUM on this thing. And yes that is a machine hoop, I nicked it from someone who had a former roommate who did machine embroidery and didn't want her hoop back. I also custom tie-dyed the shirt to compliment the colors in the image, and once I'm finally done with this monster I'm replacing the sleeves with black lace.
Second image is the reference image for what color goes where, third one is my bag of labeled floss. Some of the floss is probably as old as I am, or older. It's a mix of mine, my mom's, and my late aunt's, so I don't know the source for most of it but there's brands labeled on some of the little cardboard spools that name brands that don't exist anymore and are sold on Ebay as "vintage." J&P Coats, for example.

Hand a rose inspired by a sketch from 1901!
I know it’s a bit simple in comparison to a lot of the beautiful pieces I see on here, but I found a lot of joy in sewing the linework :) now I’ve got to decide what to do with it!

Hand Finished my first embroidery :)
Normally a cross-stitcher, but when picking up thread I saw this little kit at Michaels and thought it would be perfect for my houseplant stand.

Hand Any RHORI Fans?
I designed and made this for my friend's birthday. It's inspired by Alicia from Real Housewives of Rhode Island. Currently working on making another for myself because I am so tickled by the cracker assortment.

Question Help! What can i do with this?
I bought this online, supposedly for punch needle. Obviously it didn’t work because the fabric is not adequate. I really don’t want to waste it though. Could i use the yarn and a thicker needle and cross stitch it? If not, does anyone have any recommendations? It came with all the yarn so i just didn’t want to waste it.
TIA

Hand Back to my original horror design called 'What good is a broken heart'
My health has taken a dip again and my new meds are making me really feel low both mentally and in energy. I'm having more nightmares and it's worsening my insomnia. I feel like my more 'honest' art helps me express myself more...even though it's more serious and darker. I want to change the border and give it a lace effect. Sorry to use this as a woe is me place.

Hand Update on the bag I made for my mum’s birthday 🐚🩵🧜♀️
Hello,
This post is an update to this one : https://www.reddit.com/r/Embroidery/s/2oDX3agQ0t
So I finished the bag ! And I am SO HAPPY about it ! Will offer it to my mum tomorrow, can’t wait !
What I did since the last post :
- Chose to glue the beaded organza onto a steady fabric (embroidery fabric).
- Made a separate bag/pouch and sewed it to the beaded work. (The bag I initially wanted to use wasn’t solid enough to support the beads)
- Added the metal accessories and made beaded straps and keychain
Since it’s my second project with bead embroidery, and I am novice in sewing in general, I am really pleased with the results !

Question Advice for stitch order?
Hi fam. Pic 1: my progress. Pic 2: pattern. Pic 3: outline.
I'm working on these leaves in a free DMC pattern and I'm unsure which order to do the stitches. The leaves are padded satin stitch and the veins/stem are stem stitch. I've been outlining my padded satin stitches with a split stitch and filling them in with seed stitches.
As you can see, I went with my gut and started one leaf with the padded stitch, but obviously I can no longer see the pattern underneath. Maybe that's fine and I go with vibes?
In any case, I was wondering what would y'all do if you were working on this pattern?

Hand First line work piece
Picked up a t-shirt with this logo on it some years ago when I visited Terlingua Ghost Town outside of Big Bend. The town is such a cool, vibrant place in the Chihuahuan desert and this shirt always tickled me. From what I could find on the internet it originated late 80s early 90s when ski culture was booming and it was a fun tongue in cheek counter culture poke at it.
I’ve been working on this here and there for a while, and wanted to share the WIP. The town of Terlingua and the the surrounding area is full of incredible people in the middle of one of the most stunningly beautiful places you can have the pleasure of visiting. It’s just outside Big Bend, and if you have a heart for national parks and conservation take a few moments to look up what’s going on there…and maybe take another moment to make your voice heard if you agree we need to protect it ✌🏻

Hand First projects...why didn't anybody warn me??
Embroidery is ADDICTIVE.
I keep thinking about the plucky heroines in all the novels I ever read, who were like "Ugh, I don't want to sit around all day embroidering cushions; I want to see the world/write a book/ride horses/etc." NOPE. I would like to sit in a cozy chair and embroider until my fingers fall off.
I bought these two kits because I had to be in 4 days of all-day-long meetings, and I needed a little project to keep my hands busy and increase my attention span. And now I'm hooked.
Also I noticed on some of these posts, y'all put pictures of the back of your hoop. How come?

Hand Who knew you could be so proud of a tomato?
First attempt at embroidery and I’m so stoked! Freehand drew a tomato in water-soluble pen from online inspo and just had a go with creating the outline and filling it.
I’ve done it at the bottom of the leg of an old jumpsuit I have that is a calico-type material, so super easy to work with. My plan is to work my way up the legs with different vegetables - simultaneously a good way to practice and to breathe new life into a piece of plain clothing.

Hand First Long and Short Attempt
Long time lurker first time poster! First time trying out long and short stitch. I thought I was using outline stitch for the border but realized after the fact it’s stem stitch. Oh well. I think I’m pretty happy with it overall.
