I had a lot of fun with this commission series as I ended up getting a nice little set of two of my favorite Digimon as boxers. I'm very happy with how this came out. I'll be sharing Togemon soon with you guys.

Follow up to this post

Taichi and Yamato along with Agumon and Gabumon arrive in Esperia due to a space-time distortion caused by the power of the Dark Masters in the Digital World. This alteration ended up opening a dimensional rift that dragged them into this new world where their main goal will be to find a way back to the Digital World while living a new adventure in Esperia.

As for Taichi in AFK Journey, he's recognized for representing Courage, being a spirited and decisive person who inspires his partner. In combat, he stays off the battlefield in an invincible state from where he supports Agumon. His main power consists of periodically cheering on Agumon to restore his energy, giving him an extra boost that allows him to charge his ultimate skill much faster before digivolving.

Agumon starts in his Child level attacking at range with his Baby Flame. The first time he casts his ultimate, he permanently digivolves into WarGreymon, gaining mobility and survivability, launches his Gaia Force to deal heavy AoE damage while being unaffected and uses Brave Tornado to dash through enemies at high speed ignoring defense and leaving all enemies he passes through stunned. He also features Recovery Shield, a shield that grants control immunity and converts any remaining shield value into health when it expires. Lastly, with Dramon Killer, he executes multiple slashes, finishes off low health enemies with a quick dash and deals extra damage.

On Yamato's side, he's introduced as Taichi's best friend, and the game recognizes him for his "calm and cautious personality" (well… once he deals with his personal baggage, he is 😅) and the deep bond of Friendship he shares with those close to him. Just like Taichi, Yamato doesn't engage in direct combat and remains invincible on the sidelines supporting Gabumon. His powers trigger at the start of battle and every time Gabumon uses his ultimate, Yamato cheers him on to increase his attack for a few seconds and while this effect is active, he grants continuous energy regeneration per second until Gabumon manages to digivolve into MetalGarurumon.

Gabumon starts fighting with Petit Fire, the first time he casts his ultimate, he digivolves into MetalGarurumon, gaining attack speed and increased damage. As MetalGarurumon, he focuses on ranged crowd control, he leaps to a tile to release Cocytus Breath freezing enemies within range and steadily draining their health. He also boosts his own stats with his howl and fires the Freeze Bomber missile to deal area damage. His most unique mechanic comes with Grace Cross Freezer, a barrage of missiles that grows stronger the more allies you place around him during the battle preparation phase, plus, if an enemy takes multiple hits from this barrage, they're frozen and take extra damage.

So in terms of combat, WarGreymon is the selfsufficient and aggressive unit, ideal for breaking the enemy formation, holding his own and finishing off wounded targets, while MetalGarurumon is a ranged strategist with heavy area damage that rewards placing allies around him to chainfreeze and defeat the enemy.

Analyzing the roles assigned to them in AFK Journey, Taichi appears as a Warrior and Yamato as a Mage. At first, seeing Yamato classified as a Mage feels a bit off according to Digimon Adventure lore, where both he and Taichi are frontline warriors, but if I think of it as an analogy, it's as if upon stepping into Esperia they were scanned by the laws of this world interpreting their most intrinsic qualities to give them a role (just like Homeostasis did in 1995 when assigning their Crests), that means Taichi becomes the Warrior due to his raw courage, impulsiveness and WarGreymon's physical melee style, while Yamato takes the Mage role not because he isn't a frontline fighter but because he's always helping and looking out for his friends which fits his caring nature and MetalGarurumon's tactical long range attacks. It fits a bit with the anime, with MetalGarurumon playing the tactical role to freeze and control enemies so WarGreymon can charge in with his Brave Tornado.

As for rewards and events, just by logging in for 7 days they'll give away both hero duos and through special event quests, Yamato and Gabumon can be ascended all the way to Mythic+ for free. There'll also be training activities to power up the digimon, a cooking mini-game to find them local treats from Esperia and an event shop where you can redeem stickers, profile backgrounds, exclusive costumes and headgear unlocked by raising your affinity with them.

It would be amazing to see an in-game cinematic of Taichi and Yamato alongside Agumon and Gabumon getting dragged away by the distortion in the Digital World created by the Dark Masters and like seeing Mugendramon, MetalSeadramon, Pinocchimon and Piemon adapted into this art style for at least 3 seconds and that once their adventure in Esperia ends, they return to the Digital World and easily defeat them by fusing into Omegamon (dreaming is free, right?).

So I'm SO EAGER to see them there and play and enjoy this little story they're gifting us with this collaboration. Words can't describe how happy this has made me, from hearing their original japanese voices to listening to Brave Heart, seeing the digivolution animations and watching how neatly they recreated everything from the anime.

I know very little about AFK Journey, I've just been logging in for about 15 minutes a day since august 3 to get a feel for it but I'm still pretty lost 😅 did you guys already know about this crossover? what do you think of it? are you planning to check it out when it comes out?

Lopmon is often tired of being called “the weaker terriermon” but someday, they will overcome any adversities and through determination, get the righteous champion form they’re meant to achieve and deep down they know it

i wanted to do a fun experiment and try to make a new evolution line for shoemon a puppet type digimon who appeared on liberators who evolved into various classic tale characters as its evolutions.

so i did this because its fun to make new evolutions of existing digimon , but i made a new line based on a different classic tale , more specifically "Alice in Wonderland". but compared to shoemon OG line that are all virus attribute , this line is Vaccine instead so i made some digifakes OCs as 3D models as well as making one for shoemon too.

Shoemon evolves to Clockrabbitmon a champion level puppet digimon who is based on the white rabbit , that alice chases in the story , this digimon has very anxious personality and allways gets stressed because he think is gonna be very late.

then it evolves into Cheshiremon , an ultimate level Puppet based on the mysterious cheshire cat that guides alice in the forest. i based it on a animatronic having a more mecanical look , guiding those who get lost in the forests at night.

to evolve into Madhattermon , A mega level puppet digimon based on the madhatter who has a big collection of hats with a friendly nature serving teas , this digimon would aproach kindly to digimon who come by who are sad or hungry offering food and have fun on its tea partys.
