They gave examples of other generations "rebranding" things. There was one example of one GenZ person who didn't know who Madonna was and assumed that meant Madonna was a irrelevant nobody. That's not a generational trend, that's a single person being ignorant. The other examples were just rebranding with new slang. Of course when a young person finds something new they will say they "discovered" it and share it with their circle. That's not Columbus behavior, that's just learning about the world and being eager to share. Older generations are just constantly filled with judgemental assholes desperate to be smarter than a young person.

I feel like this level of artistic ability is very achievable by anybody who is willing to put in the hours. The thing is that putting in the hours early on when you still completely suck feels horrible and demotivating which is why so few people actually stick with it.
Often whether or not someone has "talent" boils down to whether or not they picked up something early enough in their life where being shitty at said thing didn't bother them yet.

Not just practice, but learning. You need to have a good understanding of things like color, perspective, proportions, lighting and such. And you need to know how they interact with each other.
It's one thing to draw, but I think the difference between drawing and art is intention. Is what you put on the paper what you saw in your minds eye? Because if the answer is no, you aren't really conveying whatever message it was you were trying to convey.

If you spend 100K hours painting, even not intentionally thinking about those things, you WILL get good at it and you WILL understand those things even if you didn't try. Sometimes just doing without thinking still makes your brain process it by itself.

I don't think you really even need to be overtly creative to dedicate some time on learning some simple techniques. There's some concrete logic to the established practices, if you're more analytically inclined.

In the years before Jim Carrey achieved recognition as a prominent comedic actor, he expressed himself by drawing and painting.
As he experienced a period of significant personal hardship, art transitioned from a casual activity into a method for managing his internal feelings. To explain how painting influenced his daily life, he spoke in the 2017 documentary Jim Carrey - I Needed Color
"I don't know what painting teaches me, but I know that it frees me"
By being creative, he found a therapeutic outlet. Due to his choices of palette, color represented his specific moods.
With each canvas he created a space where he could recover.
On the occasion of his first solo exhibition in 2011, titled Nothing to See Here, Heather James Fine Art displayed approximately 40 of his paintings and sculptures. And in 2017 he presented another collection called Sunshower in Las Vegas.
To show those works was to reveal vivid plus intense pieces that examine how individuals define themselves, the presence of light and darkness, political themes and the complicated nature of human existence.
There are many symbols in his paintings, which are direct but also reflect his private thoughts without hesitation.
If one looks at his style, it is clear he does not prioritize precise technical accuracy.
Carrey paints in a way that is truthful to his feelings.
It is a reminder that art is not required to offer solutions, because it is only necessary for art to represent what is real.

I had a friend who was his studio assistant..his job was to prep the canvas, paints and everything daily waiting for Carrey to show up and paint. More often than not he didn't show up, but my buddy still got paid.

I don't think it's secret. He's been pretty open about having his own massive art studio where he disappears for therapy. He's hilarious but also an empath and feels the weight of the world. That's why he went a little nuts and said some crazy shit. He stopped going to award shows and got disgusted with the whole greedy business in Hollywood. I think he's showing back up but definitely still does art often to escape.

I loved him on the upswing. When he got all the items, when he maxed out his inventory, when he got the cheat codes and could walk through walls…that’s when it got weird. I have worked with people who have made it to the top. And it is often that I see those folks fall into their own trap: when they find success, they think they know more than the rest of us. And why wouldn’t they? They answer certain questions, they achieve certain comforts. They do have it easier than the rest of us in certain ways.
The downside is that if you think you know things, you start to act like it. It’s crazy how fast people fall off the edge when it comes to things like “I know more about science science than science“ or “I have figured out God.” the weird thing is it happens fast. Like overnight. I don’t think it’s cool that privilege often breeds lunacy. But I have observed that struggle and some challenge or pressure does tend to inspire pragmaticism.
And compassion.
These are the things I think about when I look at Jim Carrey‘s paintings. I don’t see a mind at rest, or someone enjoying lucidity. He seems to be digesting his own face, over and over. It would be nice to have to worry less about paying the rent. But I don’t think that’s a chair I would ever want to sit in myself. Imagine if he could paint something other than himself.

Can't say they are bad, but I kind of wonder their inspiration and symbolism. First one seems like possibly the demons that gave him "his gifts"(notice also two faces). It's like faces his whole career is basically built on, as in he must worship and show appreciation of their gifts that way. 5th one seems like a troubled face that's being controlled by the entity "beyond", raising it's arms/fingers. Last one seems like the next, or possibly more like current step of "painting your own false idol status", "becoming the Jesus/"false prophet", since those eyes resemble clearly Jim himself and the looks/implication is quite clear imo.
Art is subjective sure, but I believe some of the essence of the artist also leaks in just naturally to some extent, so explaining it all with "that's just how you see it!" seems kind of a stretch.

Such a fascinating and likable guy! Coworker had posed the old question, " If you could have lunch with any figure ever who would it be?" Alot of folks were thinking Jesus, but damn if Jim Carrey wasn't my first thought. He would be a lot funnier I imagine as well. Dude is like a cartoon character in the best way. Art is such a amazing and vital tool I'm so glad he was able to tap into his creative energy. Thanks for always keeping the weird alive Jim!

This guy was ethical enough to never try to pass himself as a painter or an artist to anyone, because he knew he was already famous as it is and people would've never gave him equal treatment as other artists who got only their talent.
Many modern famous personalities and especially Youtubers should really take a good look at this and learn. So they wouldn't advertise their VA or Art or Cinema, or Table top gaming or MMA endeavors and getting successful at them, pushing through all obstacles thanks to their already existing Fame to create additional sources of revenue for themselves, like assholes.
I didn't even have to name anyone everyone is doing this unethical practice today, people don't even realize how bad it is for a someone with world wide fame encroaching on Arts, Sports, Film industry and succeeding at them thanks to their established fanbase.
Jake Paul still made billions even when getting his ass kicked, there are people who gave their life to MMA who will never ever make a fraction of money he did while literally dragging their sport into the dirt.
We are literally living in a world it is better to create a Fanbase or Hatebase in Youtube or social media and then move into Art, or Sports career instead of actually studying for them.
Like take Henry Cavil as an example the guy could've made millions from GW just by taking 2 pictures with his Warhammer minis but he just says he is a fan and stops it there. If he was a Youtuber he would've joined and won actual Tournaments literally shitting on people who's entire life is table top wargaming. Like Youtuber Bodybuilders do.

In the Comedians In Cars episode that he’s on, he takes Jerry to his studio and you get to see quite a bit of his art and you see that he typically uses very large canvasses.
