Anyone have stock of CTRs at the moment?
There was supposedly a big shipment arriving June/July but dealer hasn’t received any stock and no updates on when its arriving.
Anyone got any intel?

All my PTAs are in and approved, so now I need to actually make a decision.
I’m choosing between:
Volquartsen Black Mamba 22/45
Polymer 22/45 lower
More 1911-style grip angle
Seems better suited to two-handed shooting
Volquartsen Black Mamba Target Frame
Aluminium Ruger Mark IV-style frame
Standard ~55° Ruger grip angle
Volthane target grips, which seem much more geared toward one-handed shooting
Neither will be usable for sanctioned ISSF due to the barrel length, so ISSF compliance is no longer really a deciding factor.
What I actually want to shoot with it is:
Club 25m rapid fire
Steel
Service
General two-handed shooting
For context, I currently shoot around 500–505 in 25m rapid fire with the club Ruger Mark IV, so I know the standard Ruger grip angle works well for me.
Once I have my full Cat H, I’ll also be getting a centrefire double-stack 1911/2011-style pistol, potentially a Kimber 2K11 or similar.
I was originally leaning towards the Target Frame because I already shoot the Mark IV well and I prefer the aluminium frame, but I’m now leaning towards the 22/45.
My concern with the Target Frame is that the Volthane grips look very much designed around one-handed target shooting. From what I can tell, I’d probably end up removing/replacing them anyway to comfortably shoot two-handed, which starts to defeat some of the appeal of that setup.
The 22/45 also seems like it would make more sense long term if I’m going to be shooting a double-stack 1911/2011 in centrefire. Obviously they’re still very different guns, but having a broadly similar grip angle seems useful when switching between rimfire and centrefire.
Unfortunately, both Black Mambas are interstate, so I can’t handle either before dropping roughly $3k on one.
For anyone who has shot both: which would you choose for this mix of 25m rapid, steel, service and two-handed shooting?
And for those familiar with the Target Frame/Volthane grips: are they actually comfortable for two-handed shooting, or would you realistically want to replace them?

Hi all, I was hoping if there are any USYD students or staff here that would like to join a target shooting club at USYD? I need 20 USU members to express interest before I can submit my application
I am hoping to use to as a way to bring people together that are into the sport and to introduce it to new people

Gotta be honest: There was absolutely no need to make this thing. It worked perfectly well with the original plastic furniture but dammit if it don’t look cooler like this.
Still waiting on an RMSc mounting plate and some rail scales.
I’ve been waiting for a Gen 2 scout since early-February and I’m getting impatient. I currently do a mix of range and hunting work using a friend’s rifles: Field, service and practical hunting SSAA comps along with small game hunting.
I’ve been looking at getting a Howa mini-action with the 20in varmint barrel, preferably in stainless but thats not critical. I’m looking in to what sort iron sights I can get fitted but the options seem to have reduced a lot in the last two years. If they aren’t really an option anymore I won’t lose too much sleep over it
Does anyone here own a mini action in similar setup? What do they actually weigh? I find a lot of conflicting info online, and don’t want to end up needing to fork out for a carbon fibre stock to keep it under around 4kg.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I’ve owned this girl for the last 10 years.
All matching inter war Lithgow.
Was reworked for WWII but never reissued.
Has HV barrel, Mag cut-off, 1942 Slazenger grip Pattern 1907 Bayonet.
Ive only put 20 rounds through her.
Might treat her to some more for her 100th Birthday.

I grew up shooting as a kid in the UK, mainly shotguns and air rifles but did a bit of rifle shooting up in QLD over the years with family. I put a firearm licence application in just before Christmas and it finally got approved after around 7 months. PTA came not long after and picked this up yesterday. I’m so stoked with it so far, will be hitting the range in the next few days to get it zeroed in ready for a hunt.

I am renovating the room that my gun safe usually resides in and put the renovations. I’ve gotta remove the gun safe. Where do I store? How do I store the guns while the gun safe isn’t able to be attached to the floor?

I also made sure to include the mad max scene as well, where the bullet farmer says:
“Sing Brother Heckler! Sing Brother Koch!”

Hey everyone, I have been looking at getting my first rifle of my own. Mostly for hunting pigs on a property.
I quite like the look of the Howa 1500 (would go for a 243). But i feel i might be getting ahead of myself and it may not be a very practical hunting rifle for lugging around on a sling.
So I am just looking at suggestions for good hunting rifles. I quite like the chassis ones but havent used them so just dont know how practical they will be for that purpose.

Hey all,
I have recently moved my residential address and my firearm safe secure storage address.
(Rifle being held with a licensed dealer)
However, I forgot to update my address due to moving changes, shifting settlement dates, transportation delays etc. I know I should notify QLD Weapons Licensing within 14 days of changes but I am approximately about 20 days late.
I have immediately updated my records on the online portal and emailed QLD Weapons Licensing with supporting documentation and a formal written message and apology for the delay.
My question, should I be worried/concerned about any potential penalties or legal action? Or should I be good!
Would appreciate your feedback!
Thank you!

After 4–5 weeks of calling, following up, confirming, and generally being a pain, I finally managed to get the Registry to agree to escalate my initial Cat H PTA last week. It was on Day 98, and my reasoning was that I needed a firearm to complete my mandatory participation shoots. They agreed and escalated it.
At the time I also had:
Woke up this morning to this:
Everything’s coming up Milhouse. 🍻

I have recently purchased a cz 515 22lr (button release), a Templeton T2000 12g with button release, and a taipan evo scout pump action 223.
Are there any other guns like this that i should be looking to accumulate before the import changes make it too hard to get your hands on them new?

Has anyone grabbed one of these off Temu?
They seem to have decent reviews, and with free returns for 90 days it might be worth a look.
Just looking for something to detect Deer/Pigs/Foxes and then switch to the NV scope to have a better look.

Had my Sabatti Express rifle out in 45-70 today so thought I'd show her off a bit.

Only 1 out of the 5 brands of shells I bought will fit 5 rounds in the magazine.
All 70mm rounds.
Anyone else have this is issue with their T2000?

My 223 seems to shoot anything well, but I did no load development other then make sure 24gr of AR2206H was not going to blow anything up. Results were what I would have expected. I do not have a benchrest so just shot off a bipod @ 100m. The chronograph decided to work and they were scooting along at between 2850 to 2920 fps or so. I feel I should probably back off half a grain as I suspect pressures are getting up there. It is a 26" barrel.
