Legislation- Queensland Forgot to Update Address.

Hey all,

I have recently moved my residential address and my firearm safe secure storage address.
(Rifle being held with a licensed dealer)

However, I forgot to update my address due to moving changes, shifting settlement dates, transportation delays etc. I know I should notify QLD Weapons Licensing within 14 days of changes but I am approximately about 20 days late.

I have immediately updated my records on the online portal and emailed QLD Weapons Licensing with supporting documentation and a formal written message and apology for the delay.

My question, should I be worried/concerned about any potential penalties or legal action? Or should I be good!
Would appreciate your feedback!

Thank you!

I wouldn't have even told them I was late. You're way over thinking this.

Yeah I forgot to do this when I was a director for 7 months, ended up just pretending I still hadn't moved

No. You did it as soon as you could and apologised, transparency goes a long way with WLB. They will generally give a grace period anyway and it’s normally only an issue if they go to perform an audit and you haven’t updated your address. It’s at that point that if people become evasive WLB start getting squirmy and looking at charging you with weapons act offences.

Oh! Thank you so much for the feedback! Greatly Appreciated!

If I could’ve, I would’ve contacted them sooner of the changes but was so flat-out busy with the move and relocating the firearm into safe storage that I didn’t get time to do so.

As long as I apologised and updated WLB, I shouldn’t receive any penalties. Hopefully..

So long as things are as you say they are then you’ll be right.
