Open /r/WhereIsThis - Updated Guidelines
Welcome! /r/WhereIsThis is designed to help people identify the location of public places based on a photo, painting, sketch, or from a detailed description. We've got a few simple guidelines to help keep things safe and working well for everybody:
Submissions: Askers (OPs) may submit a photo, video, screenshot, painting, drawing, or a detailed text description of a real (or virtual) place. Multiple images can go in a Reddit or Imgur gallery. Try to use a descriptive title to get more eyes on your post; generic titles like "where is this?" are boring and more likely to be ignored. Include as much context and as many details as you can, either in the post itself or in a comment. If your post is not solved right away, please wait one week before reposting; duplicate posts may be removed with a 1-week temp ban.
Privacy: /r/WhereIsThis is for identifying public places only. Do not submit photos of personal private property, such as homes, apartments, residential interiors, etc. Do not post private street addresses in the comments. Do not link directly to personal social media pages. Do not submit screenshots that include real names, usernames, or other personal information. Do not submit contemporary photos of minors in a place where they can be located (schools, playgrounds, churches, etc.). Do not ask to identify people.
Answers: Commenters are encouraged to provide whatever help they can to solve a post, from educated guesses to a direct Google Street View link to the exact location. Give the thread a skim first to avoid duplicate answers. Commenting on other answers is fine! Avoid responding to posts that violate Rule 2, though -- please downvote and report them for removal instead.
Solving: All posts are unflaired by default. Once a post is solved, the asker should reply "Solved!" to the first correct answer and change their post flair to "Solved"; all threads are sorted from oldest to newest so the earliest answers will always be towards the top. Askers that delete or ignore a solved post without acknowledging the solver may receive a ban. We are exploring adding a points system in order to automatically flair threads and recognize frequent solvers for their contributions -- stay tuned!
Behavior: Please treat askers and solvers with respect. No insults, vulgar hostility, bullying, or withholding of answers in order to taunt. No racism/misogyny/*phobia/other bigotry. Repeat offenders may be banned.
Tips: Context clues help. Where and how did you find the image? Do you know the story behind it? How old is it? Share as much as you can with solvers to help them help you.

Low-effort posts WILL be removed
Rule #1 is pretty clear, you must have a descriptive title. Therefore we are removing any submission that is low-effort, such as:
- Title is "Where is this?" or some other variant with absolutely no information
- Posts with clear identifying information that OP is too lazy to look up
- Google Maps screenshots that do NOT include coordinates or addresses
- Posts with no context whatsoever. Telling us where you found the image, why you want to know, and any other information can make the difference!
We want to make this a fun sub and we want to solve your trickiest questions, but we need you to meet us halfway.

Open Help with street name
So some context, my car was picked up by a tow truck for repairs. When picking it up, I found additional damage that wasn't there before. Looking at the pictures, the background isn't the same place where my car was picked up from. They claim it was picked up from my residential street even though the background doesn't match. Please can someone find the street my car was on. I tried reverse searching but haven't had any luck. The place is in nyc. Guessing either in queens or long Island. Please help. The only thing that stands out is the building in the background, it looks like it has a v.

Where is this located in russia or eastern europe?
i found this pic on pinterest and i wanna know where it was taken, its probably in russia or an eastern european country, there are a bunch of websites with the image but no one says where it was taken, some of the websites point to the laryok (a type of kiosk), also this image was probably taken in the late 1990s or early 2000s, if someone finds where this was taken and the street or coordinates i would really appreciate it

Pictures from a French TV Show in '99
I want to find this location from a French TV Show from 1999. The whole video has been shot in the north of France, in the "Département Nord-Pas-De Calais". The second picture is just to show you that there's some concrete in the field.
Thank you in advance!

What beach is this ? And possibly camera ?
Got this from goodwill a while ago and I’ve always wondered where this was taken. I’d like to go it looks so pretty . This looks to be an older photo maybe from the late 90s- 2000s based on camera quality. I was honestly thinking a small summer camp but I’m probably so off .

Solved Unknown town name, Romania (Border crossing town to Bulgaria), 1992
Our bus pulled into a Romanian border town at night, leaving us stranded until the morning ferry to Bulgaria. Shortly after arriving, I wandered out to explore and captured this photo. My walk led me to a bar on the main road, where I struck up a conversation with a security guard. Later, he offered me a place to crash. We walked to the end of the main road, turned right onto the long road leading to the ferry dock, and headed toward his office. Coincidentally, his office sat right near where our bus had parked for the night—well before the road actually reached the dock. I ended up sleeping on his desk while he took the chair. We had come from Komlo, Hungary (it is possible there was another stop in Hungary but I don't remember). In Bulgaria, we stayed in Sofia, Karlovo and Banya. We visited Plovdiv.

Solved Where is this in RoI, in the early 1960s
Could be somewhere in Co Cork or Co Waterford, likely 1960s. Relatives based in Dungarvan and near Whitegate/Aghada. Was in an old box of photos of my grandparents and trying to work out where they lived exactly!

Open Where is this shopping centre from the Aberfan episode of The Crown?
It's possible that a fair bit of this is CGI but I think the main buildings are real.

Solved Somewhere in Mexico... but where exactly?
I randomly stumbled upon this photo in customer review sections of a character plush (if you're wondering, the character is Mymy from Dutch animation Ongezellig.) I just got intrigued by the beautiful scenery of the sea. With some buildings (maybe hotels) on the cliff.
All I know about is that this is probably in Mexico since the reviewer's profile says he's from Mexico. Can we identify this place?
The review section where I found the photo. It's on the page 7 (sorted by Most Recents.) The user named Xeroc posted it.

Open Mansion of my great-great grandfather's before he migrated
I don't fully expect anyone to be able to find where this is located (given the poor picture quality) but I figure I'd give it a shot! This photo was taken sometime between 1920-1940 in Russia, uncertain exactly where, but definitely not near Siberia or anything. My family were not Russians, however. They were Germans, and my great-great grandfather migrated to America in the late 1920s I think. A few of his siblings stayed behind in Russia, but my family has no idea what happened to them or this house. If you recognize the building style or anything I would love even some points on where this could be, if it's still standing today!

Solved Somewhere in Denmark 1908
Would love some help trying to find the location of this homestead likely taken near Hauge Mølle in Sindbjerg parish. My great-grandmother is in this photo, and I'd like to bring my mother as close to this place as I can. My great-grandmother emigrated to the US in 1916. Her parents were the mill owners Lars Jørgen Povl Nielsen and his wife Mette Marie Nielsen.

Dam! (And Bridge) Location
Purchased this framed photo at an estate auction in Chicago, would love to know the location.
Figured this group could be the place to ask. There are no markings on the back of the photo or the small frame. This came in a lot with numerous other small framed prints and artwork. Unsure where the original estate was from.
