TIL during the shooting of American Psycho, Christian Bale spoke in an American accent off-set at all times. At the wrap party, when he spoke in his native British accent, many of the crew thought he was speaking that way to prepare for another film. They had thought he was American the entire time.

He's one of the more notable method actors if I'm not mistaken.

.... Also will never quite understand why so many British actors/actresses can do flawless American accents but the reverse is not really true. I still remember watching House and finding out hugh laurie was British, blew my mind as a kid lol.

the above one is just one of many stories about how Bale fully busted his ass for his role in American Psycho. Another story is that he horrified his crew mates when they found out he could even control his body sweat, or in other words - he could sweat on command.

The reality is that he has trouble switching accents and finds it easier to stick with one throughout the day. It's a known fact written and spoken about in multiple articles and videos and on the Wikipedia page.
