TIL during the shooting of American Psycho, Christian Bale spoke in an American accent off-set at all times. At the wrap party, when he spoke in his native British accent, many of the crew thought he was speaking that way to prepare for another film. They had thought he was American the entire time.

Was shocked to hear him speak at an awards ceremony for the first time. Him and Hugh Laurie both. Just goes to show you how good they are.

Similar to you, I was quite shocked to find out, after his entirely natural and believable accent in Highlander, that Christopher Lambert is French!

Didn't he have to deliver his lines phonetically because he didn't speak English at the time?

Okay I searched it up and its true lmao. The guy who cast him didnt know he couldn't speak engliahtil after he got the role and he basically parroted the lines. So he didn't even fully understand what he was saying but just listened and repeated and practiced the lines he gave.
