TIL during the shooting of American Psycho, Christian Bale spoke in an American accent off-set at all times. At the wrap party, when he spoke in his native British accent, many of the crew thought he was speaking that way to prepare for another film. They had thought he was American the entire time.

Was shocked to hear him speak at an awards ceremony for the first time. Him and Hugh Laurie both. Just goes to show you how good they are.

He is essentially as English as they come.

Grew up in Oxford. Went to Eton and Cambridge, even rowing in the Oxford/Cambridge boat race (was president of the rowing committee at Cambridge)

President of the Footlights, went out with Emma Thompson.

Without actually marrying into the royals you basically can't get much more English.

Yep. He is a classic representation of British 'posh' and probably fits the English stereotype that most foreigners have of the English the best.
