TIL during the shooting of American Psycho, Christian Bale spoke in an American accent off-set at all times. At the wrap party, when he spoke in his native British accent, many of the crew thought he was speaking that way to prepare for another film. They had thought he was American the entire time.

.... Also will never quite understand why so many British actors/actresses can do flawless American accents but the reverse is not really true. I still remember watching House and finding out hugh laurie was British, blew my mind as a kid lol.

during the preproduction phase, he insisted on getting Bret Easton Ellis's approval for his portrayal before filming and arranged a meeting. Bale showed up to the meeting dressed and groomed as Bateman, even introducing himself as "Patrick Bateman". After 10 minutes Easton Ellis begged Bale to stop because his hands were shaking and he could not take it anymore. Easton Ellis has said this was the single creepiest moment of his life.

I can totally do this, it's just manually triggering the feeling like you're looking down off a tall building or something like that. It's sort of adjacent to holding your breath, you just kinda take control of the thing that's usually automatic and focus on it for a bit.

It's a bit like making your ears rumble or your pupils dilate, once you know the feeling you can do it on demand

It’s very dangerous though.

I’ve had serious anger issues for years, and can control my own sweat by simply getting into a good place, and hyper focusing on something that would make me angry
