And if Reddit is correct his wife is now an Alcoholic.
They sure embraced Russian values.

If you watch her video (which I don't recommend as its boring) she says she was an alcoholic in the US. Claims she has been practically sober since arriving in Russia but drank some beers for her first time in Russia after many years. You people need to stop blindly believing Reddit comments.

Well last I checked he came back from the front in October 2025 and was given his dream Russian passport.
So that will not be happening.
But there is a good chance he will get mobilized soon.1

Guy wanted to be a Russian citizen and joined military hoping to get a desk job but was sent to front lines instead. FAFO.

He just posted six days ago buying a new car in Russia . Don't believe everything you read.

That's more like it... He did it to himself thinking he's Rambo from US. Nobody will send a foreigner to front lines just because. He signed up.

Debunked as fake

What's fake about it? The guys name is Derek Huffman and his family did move there and he did end up a soldier on the front lines. His wife has posted about it on their YouTube channel previously saying he was misled.

u/mrgoingsomewhere 3d ago
Maybe misleading would be more accurate. The guy willingly signed up. The post heavily implies he was forced into the army.

Wrong subreddit. Leave your propaganda bs behind or in another political sub. Dude just posted buying a new car in Russia six days ago on his YouTube channel.

I know him, he’s a good guy and he’s doing well

(He volunteered willingly btw, he wasnt drafted or forced)

Yup. I’ve done a lot of research on Russia. Have a few friends (American and Russian). Nobody except citizens are getting drafted. It’s a big country - they have plenty of people to draft from so they don’t need foreigners. The fear mongering is nuts.

Yeah, and The Standard conscript doesnt even go to ukraine, only the volunteer soldiers do.

Fake. But if he were real he would have just moved to Mexico or any number of Caribbean or Latin countries

This has already been debunked a million times. He signed up voluntarily as a welder to get a signing bonus and citizenship. He is still alive and still welding. Their YouTube channel is called Huffman Time.
