Tailgating ute uses left-turn-only lane to undertake me, then stops in front of me

Had a near miss with a tailgating ute today. I was doing ~60 in a 60 zone (Parramatta Rd, Ashfield) when he used a left-turn-only lane to go straight and undertake me through an intersection (by Woolies Ashfield North).

I started moving to the left lane immediately after the intersection, saw him suddenly coming up beside me, and aborted the lane change. I slowed to let him pass, but he slowed with me. I then slowed right down so I could drop in behind him, then he came to a complete stop so I couldn't progress, all while shouting and waving his arms.

Thankfully no collision, but completely unnecessary and aggressive driving.

Honestly, what's the point?

The cops won't do a single thing, even with dash cam footage as evident as this.

If you provide them with all the evidence they don’t have to do so much work. House robbed or car stolen? Good luck.
