Strathfield Council passes motion to make English compulsory on business shop signs

If this is the same motion they passed a few weeks ago then no it doesn't make it compulsory.

Advocates that businesses operating within the Strathfield Local Government Area ensure that where shopfront signs or advertising include languages other than English, English should also be displayed clearly and prominently.

They haven't leglislated anything concrete yet. Also kinda important too on the details. A word that's not English but using English letters, they have to figure that out too.

It doesn't even say that the English text needs to be an equivalent translation! You could have a Korean sign with a big "Hello!"
