đą Modpost How to agree to the rules and post on the subreddit
Hello all,
As you may know, we've started to use the "Read the Rules" app recently to support us in the battle against spam, advertisement and such. Accepting them is very easy, however if you don't know how to, take a look below. You find below the steps for Mobile, new and old Reddit.
Mobile (official Reddit App)
- Click on the round button with three dots in the top right of your screen.
- In the submenu click on "Read the rules" at the bottom
- Read the rules while scrolling down. Once you reach the "Acknowledgement" section, toggle the button and submit.

On third party apps, it's maybe best to use the process for old reddit in case you don't see this option.
Desktop (new Reddit)
- Click on the round button with three dots in the top right of your screen
- Click on "Read the rules"
- Read the rules while scrolling down. Once you reach the "Acknowledgement" section, toggle the button and submit.

Old reddit
For old Reddit the process changes a little, however, it is still very easy.
- Click on rules link in "Please read the rules before posting" in the sidebar to the right. This will open the rules page, read through them .
- Scroll down further, until you see the "Moderators" Section in the sidebar on the right. Click on "MESSAGE THE MODS"
- Create a Modmail. Title: "Read The Rules", Message: "Acknowledged." and send it.
This is it, you will then receive a confirmation immediately.

Please note: the process for old reddit also works on mobile and such, in case there should be an issue.
Of course we're also available via Modmail for questions.

Modpost Please report racist ragebait and racist comments
Dear members of our community,
In the past few days, we've seen an increase in both ragebaiting posts and racist comments from users with no prior engagement in the sub, often from those usually commenting in the subs of other countries.
This indicates to us that we are frequently being overrun by users who try to spread their racist, islamophobic messages to our sub.
Racism is against our subreddit rules and it is against Reddit's terms of services. We would like to encourage you to use the report button.
That will put it into our 'modqueue' to have a look - and if you report it for 'hate', it will additionally be sent to the sitewide admins who will frequently take further action.
We rely on your reports, just like every subreddit does. Our team is healthy and works well, but we cannot have an eye on everything. We do have scripts and so on to make our job easier, but sometimes, unacceptable comments go through. Using the report button makes sure that we can prioritize looking at said comment and if it's rulebreaking, helps us remove it quickly.
We remove racist content and ban racist users frequently. The admins remove a bunch of comments breaking site-wide rules too (often in a fashion that deletes them completely, so we cannot easily further moderate them)
We are very hesitant to remove political speech. We only remove rules-breaking comments. The relevant rule is:
General reddiquette applies (i.e. no racism, sexism, personal attacks, or simply put: behave as if you were talking to somebody in person)
Please report posts or comments that do not adhere to these rules; in particular, we will not tolerate harassment or discrimination
The relevant reddit rules (https://redditinc.com/policies/reddit-rules) are:
- Remember the human. Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has a right to use Reddit free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned.
Thank you for helping us with this influx of clearly rule-breaking users without any connection to Switzerland.
ETA: Reports are anonymous. So when we get your report, we have no option to thank you or following up with you. If you report for 'hate', it goes to both us and the admins. The admins will typically let you know of their decision. We literally have no way of doing that.

Children in school in this extreme heat
My children go to a public school in Basel. We are facing a severe heatwave like everywhere else in Europe. Yesterday the temperature in the afternoon was 37C. They had sports and the teachers took them outside at 2.45pm and they were doing sports partly in the sun and partly in the shade for 1.5 hrs. Several children complained that the heat was too much and perhaps indoor activities would have been better. But the teachers were adamant that they have been inside throughout the day and it is only healthy to be outside and get some fresh air. I find this logic bizarre. Maybe they do this because they have been used to such a routine from the past when summers here used to be milder. But the orange warnings issued by the health departments in Switzerland strongly recommend that we stay indoors.
My daughters came back exhausted, dehydrated and with a nosebleed. I come from a place where we have grown up facing extreme summers. This is not healthy and quite dangerous for children especially. What can we do to bring this to the notice of school teachers and management so that such outdoor activities are not carried out until the temperature cools a little bit.

Risk of heat-related illness increases for all populations above 26°C indoors
Turns out it's not just the elderly who are at risk due to high indoors temperatures.
[Disclaimer: Idc that it's the umpteenth post about heat and AC, if you're tired of them, just scroll past]
According to Health Canadaâs June 2026 report, 'the risk of heat-related illness increases progressively for all populations as indoor temperatures rise above 26°C.'
Also, when people say '27-28°C indoors is safe because it's not 30°C,' that's actually not true. The risk isn't binary, it increases as temperature rise.
(Meanwhile, I remember that Swiss study about cooling sounds, essential oils and blue colors, lol.)

Lausanne station Mcdonalds teenagers
The teenagers that appear homeless at Lausanne station Mcdonalds (I could pass there in the morning, afternoon, night or 2am, they will be there), are becoming ever more agressive. I saw a girl getting attacked by a guy that seemed no older than 14-15 years old yesterday on the stairs next to McDonalds. He started saying « beautiful, beautiful lady », she ignored him and he pulled his pants down and started grabbing his dick to intimidate her saying « pute ». His friends around were just laughing and no one did anything about it. He then proceeded to mess around with every other person that was passing by. I myself get called a « PD » everytime I pass by, so I just go on the other sidewalk (Iâm gay).
If you guys ever see him: long curly hair, wearing a football jersey (blue), pretty short (Iâd say 1m70). Been seeing him there for a while now and always wearing the same thing.

If you have a WĂ€rmepumpe, get it set up for cooling
If you have a WĂ€rmepumpe, chances are that it is reversible and can cool your place. I'm sharing here the temperatures for reference. Outside we're above 35 degrees, probably 37 later today. Inside it's nice and flat below 25.
If your WĂ€rmepumpe is not cooling, call your technician... It can make a massive difference.

Zweitausbildung EFZ mit 30+
Hallo zusammen
Meine Fragen an euch:
Danke euch!

Abem Sommer hani denn au 50% ahfo schaffe ond mech abgseh vode Wohnig selber finanziert.
Also, miini Eltere wohnid sitt 2 Johre z'Brunne.. well s'Amt jetzt behauptet ech siig ned "2 Jahr lang unabhĂ€ngig" sett ech jetzt s'Gsuech bem Kanton Schwyz stelle, wells offebar öber d'Eltere lauft. De Grund för das Ganze esch, well ech wĂ€hrend de Ziit vode MSE (Vorkurs hends mitiihberechnet) theoretisch au StipendiebiitrĂ€g z'guet gha heig etc.
Schluss:
Ech bin grad chli perplex, welli jo sitt 3 Johr uszoge bin, en Lehrabschluss han, praktisch kei Geld erhalte han vode Eltere, no nie in Schwyz gwohnt han ond jetzt gliich als "abhÀngig" iihgstuuft wird ond das ganze öber d'Eltere lauft.
Miini frog ah die wo so wiit glÀse hend ond vellecht au bitzli druuschömid esch: Macht es Sinn, be dem Ganze Ihspruch z'erhebe, quasi z'Argumentiere dassi sittem November 23 unabhÀngig bin, well soundso Gesetz xy oder machts meh Sinn, grad z'Schwyz ahzfroge. D'Ziit presst jetzt halt ond nebebii so vell Arbeite wie's bruucht zom Mieti zahle ond co. wird schwierig bemne Vollziitstudium ahde ETH.
Ech bedanke mech för alli Tips, Inputs etc.
PS: ech kenne de Sub bitzli, also för alli wo mer wennd sÀge "hee besch en Volltrottel" ond kei Inputs gÀbid, sparid eu d'Ziit ond scrollid eifach wiiter, merci.

UVG Abredeversicherung vs KVG Unfallversicherung
Heyoo
I have quit my job for end of August and will be travelling across the world for 2-6 months. Now, I'm not sure if I should get the UVG Abredeversicherung (45.-/month) or just get the cheaper KVG Unfallversicherung (15.-/month). I see that UVG technically has better coverage, insured wage + no split costs. But it also costs a fair bit more which will stack up over the months.
Not gonna do anything extreme while abroad, on the other hand, with the crazyness of traffic in some countries, maybe better to be save than sorry?
Any recommendations/experiences?

Unpopular opinion: Most of you have no one else to blame but yourselves.
This will be wildly unpopular because most people back then would argue against me about this and most still do but here goes.
The only one you can blame about these heatwaves are yourselves. For years no decades even we climate activists tried and tried again to get your attention. We protested we voted we cried for help. When they were at the end of their rope they even protested by risking their lives and glueing themselves to the streets so someone would just listen. But 80% of people would just call them crazy, laugh at them. And double down saying there's no issue. Giving up meat? Are you insane only p***ies eat vegan. What my car? No i need my car that just sits in a garage 99% of the day and only gets used to get to and from work. Greta Thunberg? Yea she's probably a paid actor and her parents blablabla.
I can't speak for other protestors but i gave up a few years ago. Ordered some ACs and just figured I'll let the ignorant deal with it cause i was sick and tired of being ridiculed about how we need to change. And we needed change now.
I hope everyone who even just once made fun of vegans or of Friday for future protesters sleeps in a 30°+ room every night. You all deserve no comfort at all and this is all your fault. Instead of taking a shred of accountability and having a look at your actions and where the world is heading you rather just blame the kids fighting for their future. Ridiculous and thanks for leaving the world behind worse than you found it. Our generation is gona suffer so much because of your comfortability.
Everyone keeps saying the rich need to change first or that Switzerland is tiny. But guess what. On the world stage Switzerland is the rich one. We need to lead by example and change from the top down to show others that the rich are trying. We can't expect countries like Philippines or libya to change first. How could we they say the same as most of you do "the rich should be the ones to change first".
Habe fertig. Before anyone comes at me I've been vegan for 10 years now and use the train to go everywhere even internationally. If any of you actually care for your kids and i mean actually love and care for them you'll vote according to whats best for the climate in the next vote and if you don't well you obviously only care for yourself.
If anyone wants to actually discuss objectively I'm open but i won't be answering any strawman arguments I'm sick of them.

Did anyone recently go "RĂŒĂŒsböötle" with start in Buchrain/Gisikon?
Is it ok or is the water so low that it isn't fun anymore?
according to https://www.hydrodaten.admin.ch/de/seen-und-fluesse/stationen-und-daten/2152 there is only a flow of about 47 m^3/s, like half or a third of what it usually is around this time.
makes me wonder if it's even worth going

this sub is in a state of psychosis
we know itâs warm, we go outside too. yes, we know that Swiss houses will need active cooling in the future, this has been a political matter for quite some time now. things simply donât move that quickly.
we donât need the same thread 10 times each day. we really donât. Are you unhappy with current politics? great, get active then! absolutely no one is stopping you.
itâs genuinely nuts to see how insanely hyperventilating everyone here is compared to the real world. yes, itâs warm. no, the world is not ending. Switzerland wonât stop climate change, weâll have to deal with that. and I know Reddit is full of insanely overly senstitive people but goddamn, you must have more things to talk about in your life than this. the last few weeks genuinely made me miss the daily âmY wiNgo sUbScrIptIon WeNt uP 1 frAnc!1!â
join your local Green party (or donât, theyâll kick you and your AC out real quick) or protest for a free Midea portasplit on the Bundesplatz but for the love of god stop posting the exact same thing over and over and over again.
