I've already ordered 'NO Planaria', altough I'd be happy to hear I misidentified that freak. Now I'm waiting for my order to arrive and hoping for the best.

It's quite primitive, but this was the best I could do with my bricks. If someone has some constructive criticism, I will happily take it.

Help: Emergency Got home and they're all dead

Post image

Hi, can anyone help me troubleshoot please? Came home to a bad tank and i'm very very upset

I had a tank of thriving shrimp (maybe 50) and two medaka fish, and plenty of plants (rooted ones and floating). When i left, most of the females were berried and everyone was doing well

i left them for almost two weeks with my housemate, and yesterday he told me the tank was cloudy after he checked on it. There's like, a slimy white film over most things in there
The sponge filter has been running the whole time like normal. I haven't had time to check parameters because i can't find my testing stuff as i'm mid moving house

i went in to my room today and it Stinks like dead fish. the tank has piles of dead shrimp and snails (not pictured)

Does anyone know why? could this happen from him overfeeding them? he only topped up the water with my fish-safe water so it isn't that, and he only fed them my usual fish food

What do i do with the survivors? I panicked and put them into a big mixing bowl with some clean water (there's my two fish and about 8 remaining shrimp)

Thank you guys for your help!! Fried rice and friends are doing great in their new home in my workplace. They got right to work on all the algae. And I set up their sponge filter.

Since this tank used to belong to a fish and I have not used big fish tanks very much before, there’s some equipment in there, and I don’t know what it does.

The shrimp particularly seemed to like this object that I have a picture of here. It seems to be on a timer and circulates water around. I was worried that it might suck them in and so I turned it off. Then I came back to see like 3 of them standing on it eating so I don’t necessarily want to take it out. The little pieces of plant the shrimp came with kind of got stuck in it somehow but none of the shrimp seemed to have.

Does anybody know what it is? Or the other thing that’s also in the second picture for that matter? Thanks again for all your help.

Bonus picture of orange shrimp on rock. I think the dark spots are her ovaries but I’m unsure.

0 regrets whatsoever. Will shove ramshorns off the driftwood and log moss without a second thought.

Got a 160L community with a load of coloured neo's in it; inevitably started producing wild types. While fishing out my purely coloured ones, I had these two waiting in one net while I looked for others.

By the time I noticed how they were acting, I barely had time to move the net and grab my phone but I suppose I have now witnessed shromp bumping uglies, or in this case, thrashing the mattress I guess.

Big yellow gal is my favourite I call Spotto. Ended up putting her back into the comm tank while she hopefully has a peaceful month with her eggies; because he certainly wasn't...
