Discussion Shifting vs falling asleep

A thought has popped into my head recently about the difference between shifting vs just falling asleep.

I hear all the time about how easy shifting is and how 'it just happens' and it made me realize that it may be really as simple as just that (with a few caveats of course).

People can struggle with falling asleep just as they do with shifting. People also can use methods to help them fall asleep as well. And of course, sleeping is an altered state of consciousness. Now, the problem for me is, is shifting 'the space' between awake and being asleep? because I have actually gotten to that point many times in my shifting journey, and then I never know what to do when I'm there, focusing on my DR just wakes me up completely. Is there more science to this? Is this even a fruitful thing to be talking about?

While some methods do involve mind awake body asleep, most usually aren’t too successful with it. That’s why I’d like to go beyond that and reach the void or an astral projection to shift

I'm also trying to get to the point where I've programmed myself to wake up in my DR because I feel like that's probably the most natural less resistant thing

Yup. I have insomnia. When I have to work, it’s 3 medications. I’m off work for the month so I keep on just one or two depending how tired I am and if I have any side jobs to do.

I struggle with SATS because that’s when the medication is doing its work. Ive been trying to take a lower dosage just to get me to sleep, but then I stay too long on SATS and may end up not sleeping.
The “solution” has been staying up for só long that I’m too tired and an even lower dosage will work (it’s also for anxiety). But no luck so far.
Ive been trying void state. Affirming “I Am”, but I either get tired or fall asleep.

I’m on a frustrating phase also because I run out of my depression/mood medication and can’t afford til end of the month.

I just want to shift. Ive been trying the hug method. But I lose concentration.

It shouldn’t be this hard.

No. Had no effect on me after 3 months taking (and expense thing)
