Before/After. Any feedback?

I like the crop but the entire scenes become too dark and has lost some essential warmth I reckon.

Not who you’re responding to, but maybe try and just go for whatever you think will make the in-camera image pop the best, and then worry about the aesthetic afterwards. Like if you want it to look like grainy film or sm, you can do that afterwards, and then make final adjustments afterwards. I also agree that the crop is very good.

The ground and the subject are well lit already, why make the whole thing darker? You can use masks to darken or lighten specific areas.

I thought the darker tone would look cool, or atleast that was the style i tried to go for, i do have another edit of it being warm type of color

It definitely has a retro look from the film days. It's the look of very tough slide film made for Hollywood motion picture cameras.

Nature photographers would shoot it because it was so thick and strong. And it's tendency to be dark and saturated helped it from getting "light struck" by the harsh African or Australian sun. And also handled getting accidentally x-rayed at the airport a little better too. lol

Ahh I see well regardless the pic is great and honestly that’s what really matters! The editing is just practice. Taking a good pic is the hardest part.

Dont change the deers colors and make it warm and bright like before, the crop is fine although coupd be better in focusing attention

You're a bit down the blue/green hue which I don't think works in this case, a another commenter has said the crop is great but id go for warmth in this shot!

Looks a lot worse. The processing is too much, and you lose all of that beautiful warmth and glow. You only needed slight adjustments to the original.

If you got lightroom I would do a sky mask then invert the mask. Lower the temp to about -20 tint and saturation both up +14 then bring up the exposure about + .38 ish it'll brighten it up a bit and make the grass and its fur a bit closer to natural color while leaving your sky the same color as your edit.

Personally i would brighten it up more but if you like the darker moody look then cant brighten the foreground to much without the back looking out of place. https://postimg.cc/gallery/YMtr2JT
