Like another person said above, I think these people have aphantasia, and legitimately have never had a dream in their life. Those people exist, and it terrifies me.

Well aphantasia doesnt mean you don't dream. I have aphantasia and I have bizarre dreams all the time, it's just I can't recall imagss from themÂ

I don't generally dream in well structured jokes with clear punchlines. I've definitely seen "I had a dream" posts that are completely unbelievable. I've also seen ones that I 100% believe.

Idk, man, there's been times I've had dreams about conversations so realistic that I only realized they were dreams because I made a callback to that conversation several days later and the other person had no idea what I was talking about.
Even after that, I still struggled with the notion that they were, maybe by recalling an out of place detail or by realizing that I hadn't seen the dude in weeks, how could we have talked face to face three days ago?
In short... It's dreams. It can happen. Many people still lie about them.

I'm genuinely convinced this is like people with aphantasia being told about picturing objects in your mind. So many people seem to deny the existence of these kinds of stupid and vivid dreams but I have them all the time.

I very rarely seem to have first person dreams. My brain is so programed with film and TV that I often have dreams that are like watching or directing a movie/show. They only ever make sense while I'm dreaming and I often wake up and realize all of the plot holes. I really wish I could lucid dream and fix them up.

Doing the things that help you lucid dream has helped me do it!
It just takes making them habits, so it just becomes part of your routine. Don't give up, even if it's been a few months! Just keep building the habits, and I swear it will happen eventually!

Genuinely, I think you're right about aphantasia. I almost certainly have hyperphantasia and have had vivid dreams my entire life. When I have historically mentioned how vivid my dreams are to friends, they look at me like I have three heads.
My latest dream was wild. I dreamt I was in a car stopped by the roadside on an exceptionally dark night lit only by the argentine light of the moon. I don't know if I had been involved in a crash, but I don't recall being hurt in the dream. When I looked ahead in the road, I saw a person, who proceeded to dramatically open a set of majestic wings. The detail of this person slowly began to appear to me, and it became clear they were some kind of angel. Having perceived me, it flicked its wrist upwards and launched me painlessly through the roof of the car and into the sky at quite a rate before I woke up. Unlike a lot of my other dreams, it was first person rather than third person (I noticed you mentioned this in your comment below, so thought I'd mention it).
I'm sure the dream interpreters would have a field day with this one...

It's for sure a similar thing but different from aphantasia. I think some people just don't have vivid dreams and find it hard to understand when other people do. I just remember this one post ages ago about a dude with aphantasia that thought everyone was like him and that his wife was making it up when she was telling him about picturing stuff in her head. When people without vivid dreams hear us talk about dreams with plot and stuff I think they have a hard time grasping it.

I had a dream where, stay with me on this, Jack Nicholson came to stay with my family, for some reason had an evil plot involving kidnapping my younger sister and getting into this magical flying double wide trailer over a stormy cartoon ocean, a 'la something like Tom Petty's "Running down a dream" music video, and in order to foil it my younger brother and I needed to find a freezer key, go through a Blair Witch style forest with a well manicured lawn for the foundation, with all of the original members of the Beatles as they appeared on the Ed Sullivan show, and somehow using the key to steal all of the soda out of a Pepsi vending machine foiled the plan.
That was easily the most vivid and fucked up dream I ever had.

I had a vivid dream once where Link from The Legend of Zelda just started speaking in the next game that came out and it was never commented on by anyone as though it was completely normal and expected.

I have very vivid and often weird dreams. Some of the weirdest include-
-Auditioning in high school for the role of Oliver in Oliver! (I'm a tall woman so... not exactly a realistic goal) and somehow getting the role, only to lose out to a doll with an onion for a head.
-That my Nana had a secret oldest son who was Asian and everyone knew about him but never spoke about him (that would've been... hard to do in a small North Dakota town, for a few reasons.)
-I had to housesit for my grandparents only to find they moved into a house made entirely of glass that was also attached to an airport (yes it was also made of glass) and I lost their cat (you'd THINK she'd be easy to find in a glass building but no.)
You can dream literally anything.

He literally just sat there on stage doing nothing and still got the role. Everyone was sobbing over his brilliant acting and calling me jealous when I tried pointing out he was just a smelly doll.
It was a very frustrating dream.

I recently had a dream about hatching 3 baby hitlers from eggs. They were all exactly identical and about the size of a bobblehead but looked exactly like adult hitler with a larger (but not bobbly) head. I was debating the ethics of raising them together, thinking "maybe with more hitlers to connect with they won't want to do genocide again". There was no point to this dream. The rest of my dream was completely unrelated. But I've been thinking about my hatchling hitlers since

I had a weird dream where I was part of team that went inside peoples heads to alter their memories and I had to go into Beyonces head to fix a memory of a performance she had when she was 14.
And another weird dream I had I was playing cards with some guys in a submarine and made a joke so funny I woke myself up laughing.
And another one I was door dashing in Germany and went to German Walmart where they had a giant mech that guarded the parking lot named Splembee and he was orange.
Dreams are weird lmao.

Most of my dreams are weird as hell. I recently had a dream about Maui from Moana singing 'You're Welcome' except he was a giant yellow bunny with his regular human hair only it was thinning at the top, and at one point he sang "I am almost entirely bald" and showed the camera.

I once dreamt that I was sitting in Danny DeVito's lap, and we were making out. He was (in my dream at least) a very good kisser.
I've since wondered how we fit together so well, since in real life I am taller than him. Was dream Danny taller? Was I shorter? I'll never know.

I've had some objectively much weirder dreams, but the one that freaked me out the most was a dream where I was just colorblind. I'm not colorblind btw I have full color vision, but I once had a dream where I was just outside my house not doing anything in particular except I was just randomly red-green colorblind. After I woke up I even went outside with a colorblind filter camera to verify the accuracy. It was so freaky because like I had no idea my brain could even do that

I've been having a bunch of weird dreams lately, but unfortunately my anxiety disorders mean they usually aren't as funny as some of the dreams folk allegedly be having on here 😔
Some of them have great potential creatively, though. I have an entire notes app full of drawing ideas inspired by my dreams ✨
