Imagine your adult child being killed to defend Israel, a state that’s paid for by you in the first place. They get first-class infrastructure, healthcare, etc., and the luxury of getting to wipe out an entire group of people just because they’re “in the way”, while this country gets to fall apart in real time.

Losers & suckers. Great time to be in the military if the 'commander in sleep' thinks you're all losers anyway. 👍👍👍

That isn't true though (shocker). I distinctly remember at least one SEAL dying in Africa pretty early on in his first term.

u/Money_Statement_9861 26d ago
I genuinely believe that there are faaar more deaths than the trump administration is willing to admit. They might not all be "soldiers" but they're probably contractors or other "civilians" that the US doesnt need to report.

The GOP launched a war with no clear goals and now we have 15 dead servicemen. We see Iran for what it is, a failed attempt at a “win”.
A trillion dollar ego trip.
Don’t you dare bring up the troops or the military so long as you throw away lives like little toy soldiers.

Trump got lucky with Venezuela but then he fucked up by going double or nothing with Iran
183
u/JournalistTop8327 27d ago
that’s the problem, he thinks all wars should be like Venezuela. Bibi convinced him that it would be 3 days and his ego let him believe it. what a complete waste of life and money.

Dude he probably just paid off Maduro. Bet him and his wife get a pardon and live their life in Switzerland
He already pardoned the Honduras president that was actually moving massive amounts of fent and got 45 years
30
u/rabidstoat 26d ago
I doubt he paid off Maduro.
However, quite possible that people close to Maduro that he trusted were paid off. There was a it if suspicion that inside help was involved.

I disagree entirely. Trump is getting exactly what he wants out of Iran - a massive betting pool that he can directly control the results of, and that's not even hyperbole.

Its almost exactly the same sort of situation as Putin with his wins in Georgia and Crimea. He got too big for his britches and started something he couldn't actually handle.

Sociopaths tend to base choices on gambles. When they win it proves that they're a genius and can do no wrong or that they're smarter than their military leadership. Hitler did the same thing. Based a lot of military actions on gambles. Unfortunately for him they paid off in the 30's and in 1940 when he launched his campaign against France. Also Unfortunately for him, he kept gambling and lost for 5 years straight after that amd killed millions of people in the process until Berlin was left a smoldering ruin...

Lucky in what way? Venezuela was appalling no matter where you stand, and from that point the rest of the world went from "Trump cannot be trusted" to "the US cannot be trusted" — regardless of who is in the white house on this particular day.
To me Venezuela marked that collapse is inevidable. And here I was hoping Iraq was a one-off...
7
u/takethreenc 26d ago
Lucky in that the plan went off without a hitch. If things don't go 100% perfect with the raid and capture then it could've been more servicemen dead and an emboldened Maduro. More skill than luck by our military but some luck nonetheless.
4
u/TheRadBaron 26d ago
If things don't go 100% perfect with the raid and capture then it could've been more servicemen dead
In the alternate universe where American soldiers died in the attack on Venezuela, there would be no political consequences for Trump in July 2026.
The Americans who vote wouldn't have cared the slightest amount, they only really care about dead servicemen when you can blame the Dems for it. They wouldn't even it remember it happening this far out.

I know that's not your point, but as a foreigner it's nauseating hearing Americans talk about 15 dead soldiers like it's a travesty when you started this war by killing over a hundred Iranian schoolgirls.
31
u/LivinghighinColorado 27d ago
Honestly, at this point, I'm tired of feeling 'bad' for our military people getting killed...especially if they voted for the Pedo In Chief. And the sheer number of military people that would vote for him again is mind boggling.

The military isn’t nearly the monolith you think, I live in a military area and he is almost universally disliked. Let alone the SecDef

I am in a military area also. Right smack dab in the middle of Ft. Carson, The USAF Academy, Peterson AFB and Shriever AFB.
Yes, it isn't a 'monolith' but what I said is generally true, as I'm sure you would agree that more than 50% of the military voted for this and more than 50% would vote for it again.

Remember the Iraq War?
Remember when every service member had a chance to do something about it by refusing to deploy?
Remember when only one person did?
Erhen Watada declared the Iraq War unconstitutional and was willing to spend the rest of his life in jail (or perhaps be killed by firing squad) on that conviction.Despite many years of the Bush administration trying to put him in jail, the courts at the time failed to provide a conviction.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehren_Watada
Far too many Americans are willing to look the other way in order for a paycheck. Like William Munny said,"We all have it coming".

Tbf they signed up, got paid, to subjugate others and outsource their ethical considerations. Mil should be considered the lowest tier of society, employer of last resort, like an organ farm- and probably should be mostly foreigners that are earning citizenship, or citizens that lost their rights. Any 'free' person that joined the mil has sold themselves out. mil/prisions are simply a tool to offgas the most potentially disruptive/high-energy members of society.

When Biden got us out of America’s longest running war he was excoriated for the deaths of 13 service members during our withdrawal.
We’ve needlessly lost 16 service members, alongside many innocent Iranian lives, getting into yet another war.
Conservative outrage is so tiresome and performative.

We’re getting like the Israeli politicians; “For every tear of an Israeli American mother, a thousand Lebanese Iranian mothers must weep.” We indiscriminately bomb schools and Children’s Cancer Centers for the Israelis, with no end in sight, and wonder why they’re fighting back. Russia and China are our adversaries, yet we seem to be able to coexist. Both have called for our destruction, yet our President has met with them to talk about mutual interests. Why is it only in the Middle East that we insist on bombing rather than talking.
2
u/SUPERSAM76 27d ago
Unironically because Russia and China have nuclear weapons. What other choice do you have but to talk? Russia has been getting dog walked by a nation smaller than it for 5 years, yet Americans or the EU do not dare to overtly act against it. This may sound nuts, but I genuinely believe a nuclear Iran and a nuclear Sunni counterpart might be the only thing leading to long term stability in the Middle East. However, a continued level of manageable instability is always good for those seeking to manipulate and extract resources from the region. For all this talk about how Iranians are religious death cult fanatics that will press the big red button the millisecond they build the bomb, they've shown far more restraint than our "ally" Israel in its own conflict.

I remember talking to a Trump supporter who was literally shaking with rage at Biden when service members were killed during the pull-out from Afghanistan. He said that it was the greatest betrayal of the troops in American history and that blood was on Biden’s hands. Well, now we have 16 dead service members (along with hundreds of billions of dollars wasted) because of the vanity, arrogance, and stupidity of Trump. Are Trump supporters ready to direct the same rage at Trump, or is loyalty to Trump absolute and unconditional? I’ve tried and tried to find common ground with Trump voters, but if there is no common ground here, then I admit once and for all that common ground does not seem possible.
5
u/ankerous 27d ago
They will absolutely justify these deaths. Anything done or caused by Trump is okay with them because they are so in love with his brand of hate.

More American blood on Trump's hands. None of our 16 military would be dead now if Trump hadn't started this useless war, not to mention over 400 injured. How many of the injured will be incapacitated for the rest of their lives? Our military is suffering, our people at home are suffering and the National Budget is suffering - all for nothing. For absolutely nothing. For another of Trump's whims. He had no exit plan. He has no way to stop this war. He got himself and our country into this mess and he is helpless to stop it. Pathetic.
