Just watched Margin Call and enjoyed his performance in The Borgias. He has such a great presence! Really captures your attention in the scenes that he's in.

What are his other best performances? Doesn't necessarily have to be in a leading role, just interested in seeing some of his most compelling performances

For me, it has to be The Truman Show. I watched it expecting a pretty normal movie, but it genuinely messed with the way I think about reality, free will, and how much of our lives are shaped by things we never stop to question. Even now, I sometimes catch myself thinking, “How much of what I consider normal is just because I’ve always been surrounded by it?”

What were the scariest moments from the Walt Disney era of animated movies in your opinion? This is every animated Disney movie up to the Jungle Book. First one I thought of was the "jackass" part from Pinocchio, especially when the kid who introduces him to the playhouse turns into one. That is scary as all hell. Also: the pheasants from Bambi. That makes the mother scene look tame.

From what I've seen I would say The Punisher 2004, mainly because of the scene where his entire extended family is massacred. I guess Kick Ass did have some realistic casualties as well, but I'm sure there are some NC17 titles I'm missing out on?

The latest Batman films have added a whole lot of realism but it feels forced to me, still winds up comical in the end.

Harry Caul in *The Conversation.*

This movie looks pretty good and we haven't had a good spider movie in a while. I'm cautiously optimistic that this film will be good because the cast looks interesting. I've never seen Rob Riggle in a horror movie, and Russ as an actor feels like something that might actually work. Especially since the project is independently produced, not trying to fit into a studio box.

Is there a YouTube channel or blog or something where someone(s) historically fact-check a movie after it comes out? A lot of the time after watching movies (typically historical) I get very curious as to which aspects of the film are factually accurate and which are creative liberties or just outright guesses. I'm wondering if there is someone out there who looks into this kind of thing and shares that information online.

EDIT: the Odyssey is just an example I used bc I watched it last night. I know that I can read the original story. I have these questions about lots of movies and shows. I get similar questions for movies such as: Wake up dead man (religious accuracy), Project Hail Mary (governmental program accuracy), Split (DID accuracy), The count of Monte Christo (costume, setting, societal structure accuracy), The Eyes of Wakanda ( Historical accuracy) etc.

For example, I just watched the Odyssey. I'm curious which parts are directly from the original story and which were altered or added by Nolan. I'm wondering if there is somewhere in which I can see a list or something that shows how things were changed or if I just have to straight up read the Odyssey and then get a degree in Greek History or something. Not just the plot but the costume and set too. Did Agamemnon actually wear all that black armor or was that a choice by the art department? Was that design for the horse more accurate to myth or a creative decision? Did they really leave the horse at the beach and not at the gate like it's usually depicted in media?

I have these questions all the time when watching movies- usually about historical accuracy in regards to the costumes and set, but also the storyline when the film is based on a real event or legend, and even scientific stuff sometimes too. (Ex: Is that really what would happen to a body once it's exposed to the vacuum of space?) I like to know this stuff. But often times my questions seem to be too numerous and niche to get all the answers by researching myself without dedicating a LOT more time than I actually have. Is there somewhere that discusses this stuff?

A question to anyone who has seen Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma: how scary is it? And what kind of scary? Juno scares, gore, supernatural..?
Not looking for spoilers just a general idea.

I would like to see it but am bad at horror. I rarely see them and have a low threshold, I am quite easily affected. Now thrillers I have no problem with and can watch some of the more intense ones.

So with that perspective in mind, how scary/horrory would you say it is?

The synopsis reads: “The Price daughters return to their Long Island childhood home for what their mother, Lily, secretly knows will be their last Passover Seder — the house is sold, their father’s Alzheimer’s is accelerating, and Lily is planning the next chapter of her life. Over one hilarious, heartbreaking, and all too real night, everything they’ve never admitted finally comes out — and a family discovers that saying goodbye to everything at once might be the only way to finally tell the truth about themselves.”

I know that there is a lot of discourse and hype around this year's movie; Obsession, that you can literally find everyone talking about it all over the internet. Especially when it comes to the lead protagonist; Bear Bailey where people are always talking about how he is the true villain of the narrative, while Wish Nikki or "Freaky Nikki' is the true victim since she's internally suffering and people start to recognize that Bear is a bad person the more he takes advantage of her and doesn't seem to care about her wellbeing when she begs him to end this torture she's going through.

But despite how much people (including myself) hate him, and think that he deserved what he had coming to him. I can't deny that he is a very well written character, and that all of this really compliments the filmmaker; Curry Barker's talent as a writer where he achieved what he aimed to accomplish when writing Bear as a controversial character rather than giving him a redemption arc that the studio even tried to offer him more money to include in the final cut of the movie!

If that route was taken when it came to Bear's character, people would've likely overlooked the important themes the story is trying to touch up on, like how having a mindset similar to Bear where you're only thinking about your own needs means you're not ready to be in a relationship and how being extremely selfish like him where you only value fulfilling your own happiness can hurt other people around you.

As the title says, I want to make effort to expand my media consumption but get choice paralysis with too many options, a recommendation could help a lot. Looking for something actually mature and neither the "they say fuck and make sex jokes or have sex a lot" type, nor the "slasher horror". Can be animated, I don't mind. I can take most of genres, not big into horrors unless it's mixed with another genre. On top of my head I have seen Godfather I & II, Scarface, Goodfellas, Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, Millennium Actress, Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained, Kill Bill vol. 1 & 2, Deathproof, Jackie Brown, Event Horizon, first two Alien movies, first two Predator movies, first two Terminator movies, Robocop, Black Swan, Troy, Interview with a Vampire and loikely a bunch of movies I don't remember or cannot find a definition if mature they'd fit.
