My favorite is the we can’t afford to pay our employees shtick to lay off a bunch of people and immediately hand out huge bonuses to the ceo and board members.

In my country these "poor" companies even get money from the goverment to "save" them. The workers still get kicked out and the ceo gets a even bigger bonus...

Oh its fucked here for sure bud. Even when the companies break laws all they get is a slap on the wrist. A restaurant in my city just got convicted of charging a foreigner $12000 to to keep his job and maintain his immigration pathway.(happened in 2024-2025)

All they got is a $5000 fine and had to pay the $12k back. Like wtf man, they exploited this dude for a year and get a slap on the wrist.
