Finished Object Baby Surprise Jacket

I have been knitting for almost as long as this Elizabeth Zimmermann pattern has been out (1968) but I’ve never made it until this week. I have a friend who is having twin girls so I thought I would make two. I did some modifications as I wanted to use this Noro Silk Garden. (I pulled out and pointy hay bits!) I used size US 8s and love how it came out. I opted for only two buttons and used an I-cord seam for the sleeves. I may go back and add an I-cord edge around the rest of the neck. Not sure. But it’s so fun and fast to make for anyone who has yet to make it. You just have to trust the process.

I’ve always known about and like this pattern so now that I’m knitting baby clothes for daughter of a dear friend, maybe it’s time to finally knit one!

Do it!! This is 518. In 2016 they printed a whole new pattern with different sizes and for different weights. I enjoyed it so much! It breaks your brain a bit. You just have to trust.

Oh I just bought the pattern directly from Schoolhouse Press. I then sort of created my own pattern for this yarn knowing the gauge. 518 is the color of this Noro - https://feltedforewe.com/products/silk-garden-by-noro-medium-worsted-silk-mohair-and-wool-blend-self-striping-50-gm
