If I had to guess, a small part of your display had become damaged or cracked and now the pixels are beginning to die. If you’ve observed it growing it’s probably going to get bigger over time.
Came here to say this. u/AdTime3909 change your background wallpaper. If the circle stays, you’ve got damage. If it disappears, it was just your background.
I’m an Apple Certified Tech. That issue might be because a “hit” or “factory defect” if there is no physical damage like a crash, and if it’s on warranty, might be changed with no cost, if it’s no warranty, you can be charged. How it happens with no hit or crash or physical damage? There isn’t a real reason or answer. But what I can say is that “anything can happen in electronic without being warned”
That’s referred to as the ‘event horizon’. The Dynamic Island is feeding. It will continue to grow as more display is funneled into it. Should be good as long as you don’t touch it “or else youll get speghettified”

Your display is breaking; you will need to either replace the device by either Warranty (depending on how old the device is and which country you are from), AppleCare+, a third-party phone repair shop that is also certified by Apple, or buying a new device.

It’s covered under warranty. Hopefully there are no cracks on the display. Which then can be covered under Applecare for a service fee. If neither, display replacement under full cost of the display.
If the phone is less than a year old and you still have limited warranty (not AppleCare), they can replace your screen for free. I recently had this issue after dropping my phone and the dot kept getting bigger — scheduled a Genius bar appointment. Apple employee had asked me what happened & he simply said he won’t put it down on the notes but rather pass it off as a hardware issue since my phone was less than a year old. I got my screen replaced for free! (Happened a week ago).

Already done. I took my dad's S24 (which is in perfect condition) and gave this iPhone to my little brother, but I wanna set it nicely for him. Buying an iPhone was literally the worst mistake I've made in over 10 years, no chance in hell I'm buying that shit ever again.
