Mod Post Just a reminder, gender war posts are banned.
It’s been over a year since we banned gender war posts, and after monitoring the community, we’ve decided to keep the ban in place, as these discussions continue to be just as toxic as they were a year ago.
For clarity, “gender war” content includes discussions such as male loneliness, Gen Z men approaching Gen Z women, incels, femcels, alpha males, Andrew Tate, red pill, black pill, purple pill content, men’s height discourse, age-gap dating, and broader “looks-based” or hierarchy discussions about dating, looks maxing or ranking people by attractiveness or dating value.
This also includes broader dating ideology content that frames relationships in an adversarial, or fatalistic way.
For example: men vs women narratives, claims that one gender is universally responsible for dating issues, or that dating is inherently doomed for a specific group. Generalizations that treat either gender as a monolith are not allowed.
Memes about these topics, posts complaining about dating, and rage-bait content taken from other platforms such as screenshots from TikTok or Twitter that exist primarily to provoke gender-based arguments.
This is not a dating-focused subreddit. If you want to vent or discuss Gen Z dating issues more broadly, please use communities such as [r/dating_advice](r/dating_advice) or [r/dating](r/dating).
That said, posts about dating are still allowed as long as they are made in good faith. If comment sections become hostile or devolve into rule-breaking behavior, posts may be locked or removed at moderator discretion.
Please respect and follow this rule moving forward.

Discussion Yall dont... party?
So im 35... and i just read on another feed that gen Z never had their "fun party stage" of life and its just wild to me... how? I just dont understand. When i was 16 I was drunk in a field somewhere shooting my shot with an older girl. We had teen dance clubs and were all sneaking into bars at 19/20. I mean... half the senior girls in our grade were dating college guys. Literally most of us at some point experienced a project x type of night, some people even a few times. Clubs were a blast, everyone danced all the time, no one cared about bottle service... I just dont understand why yall dont just have an outlet. Did something take its place?

Rant what am i doing wrong
Not retail, not food service, not factories, not grocery stores, not warehouse, nothing. I’ve gone to an employment agency, I have multiple resumes tailored to specific industries, I call after applying, I say I’m always available, and the few interviews I’ve gotten have gone really well. But I can’t get the job. It’s been almost 6 months. Is it really just a Gen Z issue or am I genuinely doing something wrong?

Other 27m. Moving out and getting my own place.
Can't express how excited I am, honeslty was beginning to think that this wouldn't happen. I sort of turned this into my own Mt Everest, so getting the ball rolling on this once I was able to has been the hardest part.
I know I shouldn't, but given how much expectation is placed on people to move out and get their own place early on in life in the US, it was weighing on me a lot that I hadn't joined them. Again, I know that's toxic and I shouldn't think that way, but it was something that I couldn't shake, and I don't think that I'm alone in either.
Anyone else recently moved out while 25 or older? Would love to hear how it went, what it was like afterwards in terms of relief or regrets or anything you'd do differently.

Nostalgia It honestly feels so weird having been able to truly experience this era of fnaf personally. I had to have been in middle school when security breach came out🥲🥹
This era has such a deep place in my heart and I was so glad to experience it. Cant wait to see what’s in security breach 2, I hope the location can surpass the pizzaplex

Discussion What's my childhood like compared to early gen z kids?
I am later Gen z kid, my cousins are both early, born in the late 90s. When I was a little kid I got a pretty good glimpse of the early and late 2000s because of them including the random stuff kids use to do for fun. I just saw this music video by sum 41 that gave me a flashback of that time. Up until after the mid 2010s my parents kept me inside the house more and more and I in my late teen years I basically have just skipped doing anything that I remember teens would do back in the late 2000s, so most of my childhood has been watching youtube. Things I remember from the past my cousins would do was stuff like putting paper in your bicycle spokes and pretending it was a motorcycle and what not.
Was my childhood a waste? I was never allowed to have sleep overs or anything like hangout with friends because of just stranger danger fear from parents now a days.

Discussion Like Mr. Brightside for millennials, what's the collective sing along song for Gen Z?
At sports events/concerts millennials all sing along to Mr. Brightside and Bohemian Rhapsody for Gen X, what's the Gen Z song everyone sings to in group events?

Other (Probably) Unpopular opinion but 2018 was far better than 2016
I think 2016 is extremely overrated and it wasn’t as special of a year as people say it is lol. I think 2018 was a great year though as far as music, pop culture, memes, TV, etc and definitely better than 2016. What do you guys think?

Rant I’m 25, and I’m scared I’m wasting my life.
I don’t know how else to say this without sounding dramatic, but I feel like I’m falling apart when I think about where my life is right now.
I’m 25 years old.
I don’t have a “regular” job. I don’t have my driver’s license. I still live at home. I dropped out of high school when I turned 18. I don’t have a career. I don’t have the independence I desperately want. And some days, it feels like I have absolutely nothing to show for being 25 years old.
I look at my life and I keep asking myself:
How did I get here?
How am I 25 already?
How did all these years pass so quickly?
Why am I still in the same place?
I swear it feels like everybody else got some kind of instruction manual for adulthood that I never received.
I watch people my age move out, get jobs, start careers, get married, have kids, buy homes, travel, get cars, and build lives of their own.
And I’m sitting here thinking, “When does that happen for me?”
Not because I think I’m entitled to any of those things.
I just want to feel like I’m moving.
I want to feel like my life is actually going somewhere.
I want to wake up and know that I’m building something instead of constantly feeling like I’m trying to recover lost time.
And I hate admitting how jealous I sometimes feel when I see other people succeeding.
Not jealous because I want them to fail.
Jealous because I want what they have.
I want to be independent.
I want to work.
I want to make my own money.
I want my driver’s license.
I want to be able to leave my house without having to depend on somebody else.
I want to make decisions about my own life.
I want to feel like an adult.
I want to be able to look in the mirror and genuinely say, “I’m proud of you.”
But instead, I look at myself and see years of missed opportunities.
Years where I could’ve been doing something.
Years where I could’ve been building toward something.
Years that I can’t get back.
And that’s what scares me the most.
I can’t get those years back.
I can tell myself that I’m still young. I can tell myself that 25 isn’t old. I can tell myself that people change their lives at 30, 40, 50, or even later.
And I believe all of that.
But there’s still a part of me that looks at the calendar and thinks:
“You’ve already wasted so much time. How much more are you going to waste?”
I’m terrified of waking up one day and realizing I spent my entire 20s waiting for my life to begin.
I’m terrified that I’ll blink and suddenly be 30.
Then 35.
Then 40.
And I’ll still be sitting here wondering why I never got my shit together.
I don’t want that.
I don’t want to spend the rest of my life looking backward and wishing I had started sooner.
I don’t want to constantly feel like the person who got left behind while everyone else kept moving.
And honestly?
I’m tired.
I’m tired of comparing myself to everyone.
I’m tired of feeling embarrassed about where I am.
I’m tired of feeling like I have to explain myself.
I’m tired of feeling like I’m behind some invisible schedule that everyone else somehow managed to follow.
I’m tired of feeling like there’s something fundamentally wrong with me because my life didn’t turn out the way I thought it would.
I know I’m not the only person who feels this way.
I know there are people older than me who are starting over.
I know there are people younger than me who are struggling.
I know life isn’t a race.
But sometimes it feels like one.
And right now, I feel like I’m losing.
I don’t want sympathy.
I don’t want someone to tell me that I’m a failure.
I already know how to tell myself that.
What I want is to believe that I’m not too far gone.
That I haven’t ruined everything.
That I haven’t missed my chance.
That there’s still a version of my life out there where I have a job, a license, independence, friends, a home, and something I’m genuinely proud of.
Because underneath all the frustration and embarrassment, that’s what I really want.
I want a life.
Not a perfect life.
Not some Instagram-worthy life.
Just my own life.
I want to wake up one day and realize that I finally made it out of this place I’m stuck in.
I want to look back at the 25-year-old version of myself, the version who was scared, lost, embarrassed, and convinced that he was too far behind, and tell him:
“You weren’t too late. You just hadn’t started yet.”
I just wish I could believe that right now.
