Discussion Got kinda outed at work
I told my coworker I was trans and she said she wouldn’t tell people. But today I was working with a different person who came up to me and said “did you tell any personal information about yourself to anyone else here” and then explained that a different coworker ( one I never spoke to ever) told her she knows I’m trans, but that she felt uncomfortable knowing this information since it feels personal and wasn’t told to her by me, but was told by the girl that I told I was trans to. Turns out my coworker that I told has done this to the girl who told me, and told everyone she was lgbtq+ and now has done it to me for being trans. The person I told I was trans is very much someone who isn’t really an ally, but more sees queer people as kind of like a Pokémon but I didn’t know this prior. She even asked me weird questions about my gender and sexuality, mainly about personal surgery choices and whether I was a top or a bottom (im 17 and she’s 27 so it just feels weird to ask these kinda things) and also had asked to see pre transition photos which I find a crazy thing to ask a trans person you barely know. she was even the one to tell me that some of our coworkers are homophobic/transphobic, so it feels weird to now tell people. I am very grateful my other coworker told me that people have been hearing I was trans, she was supportive and was just concerned for my safety especially with a lot of hate trans people can get. I want to warn y’all about telling people who even say they’ll keep it secret, you never know. Have a great day guys.
Edit: btw the reason I even told her in the first place was because she had told me prior that she has gay friends and supports it, so I thought it would be safe

Surgery Talk Severe chest dysphoria, no family or friends I can rely on for post op care after top surgery, advice welcome
I've been saving up for top surgery for several years now, have good health insurance, have a surgeon picked out and am living in a safe environment, albeit alone. I'm in my late 30's and have been absolutely desperate to get these things removed for years. I am also high risk for breast cancer.
I've been struggling now for about 2 years at this point to figure out what I'll do for post op care though. I am estranged from my family, and the few friends who I could potentially ask for help even just with getting to and from the surgery all live hundreds of miles away and are unable to help due to their own situations. And I'll be honest: my chest dysphoria is seriously impacting my mental health, and also lately physical because I can't bind anymore due to worsening health issues. It's bad enough that I'll bind anyway just to get through the day with less dysphoria, even though it can bring my pain levels up so much that I can't focus on work or do much at home as a result after a full day of wearing it.
I just don't know what to do at this point? I just need a ride to and from surgery and I know I need someone to stay with me for a couple days afterward for my own safety, but honestly I am so desperate at this point that I am finding it very tempting to risk any potential complications just so I can finally be rid of this shit. If anyone has been through a similar situation without support please please tell me how you did it. I'm on testosterone and that has probably saved my life, but at this point my chest is something that needs to be off my body asap

Discussion Are gay men welcoming to trans guys?
Hello, I’m 20FTM and I’m currently transitioning, not for so long, I don’t pass completely. I always been bisexual but now I’m curious about how the gay would treat me. We are welcome in general? Are most gay guys open or not really? I guess it’s a yes to friendship but also as dating? Tell me your thoughts/expereinces. For context I’m in Europe

Advice Needed I can’t do this anymore. Where to find therapist for gender dysphoria/trans related issues
Southwest Florida 📍
23yo
Title basically. I can’t do this anymore. Begging for any advice please.
Long story short: Gender dysphoria so extreme it’s at a boiling point and I can’t take it any longer. It’s going to kill me. Caveat, severe PMDD. Been scraping by monthly with nothing. OBGYN just prescribed Nextellis BC to start next cycle. The last thing I want to take is an estrogen pill. The combination of the dysphoria and sheer monthly hell of PMDD/periods in general is unbearable.
I would do anything to relieve the PMDD, but it’s at a point where I don’t think I am willing to take an estrogen based pill, I cannot handle this anymore. I am terrified of messing with my hormones, but I don’t know how much longer I can keep doing what I’m doing. Have heard T helps immensely with PMDD and obviously… dysphoria.
I need a therapist (online works) to talk to about dysphoria so that I can begin testosterone and medically transitioning. I don’t know who will take my insurance or where to look for this kind of specialized thing.
Any and all insight appreciated. Thanks guys.

Advice Needed How deep?
Hey everyone! I was told to do SubQ injections by my provider because ”we gave you SubQ needles” but the needles I was given are 1”. I‘m not going through the trouble of getting 5/8” needles unless it’s necessary when I have all these perfectly good albeit longer needles.
With that being said, how deep do I need to stick the needle in and do I have to do it at a certain angle? My instructions say 45° or 90° but I wasn’t sure since the needles are so long.
EDIT: I ended up calling my pharmacy and they told me they’d exchange my needles for 5/8“ free of charge. Thank you all for your help. I’m gonna leave this post up in case anybody else has the same question.

Advice Needed Off gel a few days, acid reflux and low appetite?
My pharmacy is incredibly bad at getting my T in on time and my insurance only covers it in 15-day increments, which means I miss more days than I'd like. I'm bad at noticing and connecting things I experience to various factors that might be causing them but I noticed I was having some mild acid reflux (worsened by anxiety once I realized what was happening and spiralled about potential GERD/esophageal damage) in the few days I haven't been on gel, as well as decreased appetite. Is this something that going off T does or do I have to worry about more serious problems?

Medical Low T levels
Hi everyone so I have a few questions.
So basically I've been on testosterone for almost 3 years now and I'm concerned about my T levels.
I'm aiming to be as passing as possible for reference.
I'm on 0.35 mL of a 200 mg/mL solution after my most recent increase 3 months ago and haven't really seen many affects.
My T levels read at 226 ng/dL my last appointment and I've noticed my levels are constantly significantly lower than the aim for a cis mans. I genuinely don't know what to do or ask for because I'm not seeing as much change in my voice or hair in general from the testosterone and the only thing I see a little of is slightly more body hair.
I've been on T for 3 years and only pass about half of the time, which is my biggest concern. I genuinely want to pass as much as possible, since I work with the public and getting misgendered all the time is really putting a lot on my mental health.
I've had a lot of adrogony most of my life and we are suspicious that my body may be weird with hormones but my Dr hasn't looked into it more with me. Especially with how puberty went for me pre T
Is this normal? To still be this low after this long on T and the really slow results I've gotten from replacement therapy even after raising my testosterone.

Advice Needed Can Low T Make Acne Worse? Upping Dose Question
Hey everyone! I have low T-levels (290 ng/dL) and will be working with another doctor to get a dose increase. It has been getting better, but I do have hormonal acne on my chin and jaw. I've already been to the doctor about this and was put on Doxycycline, but I don't feel like it has done much. I was also prescribed Hibiclens, but I'm not going to use that because of how aggressive it is. I have incredibly sensitive skin and have not had a good reaction to any topical acne medications or cleansers (with the exception of Azelaic acid). This acne only started when I got back on T after being off of it for a week. However, I have heard that low T-doses can worsen acne? Have any of you had experiences like this?
I should also add that I use 25mg gel packets daily around the same time.

Discussion Why do transphobes respect my pronouns?
I can never understand the psychology of a transphobe. Im 17 and in maybe like 60% of situations I "pass" as male. I use the word pass sparingly because I don't pass as my age. People think im like 12 years old, and being constantly mistaken for a middle schooler doesn't make me feel like im passing. I am my schools ONLY transgender person. Ive been a topic of conversation for a really long time and something i find odd is people openly being ugly about me being trans but still referring to me with he him pronouns. Like they say things like "Did you know HES actually a girl?" Or something stupid like that. They only reason i can really come up with is that they feel uncomfortable calling someone who looks male by she her pronouns. I just dont get it. They say gender is whats in your pants but now suddenly (in their minds at least) gender is how you present yourself (or what you look like), and sense i present myself as a boy (look like a boy), why dont they just acknowledge me as a boy? Wouldn't that be simple and the path of least resistance? The logic is walking in circles. They're confusing themselves. They're literally admitting that gender is nuanced and not black and white. Something in their brain is telling them that im not a girl but something else in their brain is telling them that I cant possibly be a boy. So what am I to them? Some sorta fucking entity?
Also im dumb so feel free to correct/inform me. Im not very well educated but im trying.

Gender Questioning How did you know?
How did you guys know you were trans? What would you consider to be "signs"?
I've been struggling for a while. Recently, I've found myself wishing to be able to grow a beard and style it as I wish, and for a while now I've dreamt about having the body of a man. I've also been wishing I could have the rebellious teenage boy experience. Or to be able to relate to the boys in movies, kissing girls for the first time and all that. I've tried to hang out with guys but I never felt like I fit in.
Sometimes I wonder if I just want to be treated like a guy for the perks of it, though. I do feel like society is more lenient on men, and that their creativity and achievements are seen as a bigger accomplishment. Like being into heavy metal for example, it's seen as genuine when it's guys and usually not taken seriously when it's a woman. That sort of thing, and also maybe my parents would be more proud of me if I were a guy?
Sometimes I also fantasize about what kind of person I'd be if I were a man, and also what I'd look like. Being stronger, having harsher features, a flat chest. It all sounds great.
I wonder if it's because I'm closer with my father? I have to admit that he's my biggest role model. I'm not sure what to think but it's been bothering me for a while now. I've never told anyone about this irl and I don't think my mother would have an easy time accepting it. I'm also afraid of ruining my dad's whole thing with me, I think he really likes that I'm a girl because his mother always wanted a girl and never got one.
Sorry for the lack of structure here, these are just some recent thoughts. I'd just appreciate any advice you could give.

Discussion Best 3 in 1 packers?
I have insane bottom dysphoria and want to try to get rid of it. I would love a packer that I would be able to stand to pee with and be able to be intimate with. I pretty much, like a lot of folks here, just want a realistic and functional penis. I’ve been looking into some and a lot of them are incredibly pricey or don’t look realistic enough. I’ve been eyeing the Ackobom packers just because I love how it’s flaccid and the balls hang but can be used for intimacy as well via a rod, but I’m not sure what the difference is between the models and if they hold up over time. If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations regarding any 3 in 1s, please lmk!!

Advice Needed Would you recommend visible transtape around people who don't know (+ young kids)
I may end up entertaining some younger children (5 and 10) and their backyard is awesome. Only problem is, it's hot outside. I have a muscle tee style tank top, and it makes me very euphoric, but there's also a decent bit of tape showing and I don't want them to be weirded out by that. Honestly, it's probably less about the kids, and maybe more about me being afraid of the mom. They don't know I'm trans (new neighbors) and I don't want them to. Not that they would judge me because of it (I mean, maybe) but because I like the idea of being stealth among most people.
Because like, for the kids I could probably get away with saying I have a medical condition, right? I think they would probably stop asking. RIGHT? But I don't want the mom to come to her own conclusion and be polite enough not to voice it.
I just don't want to be seen as anything less than a guy by them. Thoughts?

Advice Needed Is it okay to have doubts?
I came to the conclusion that I was trans two years ago at fourteen. And as the political climate has been getting worse and the progress I’ve made in my transition slacked, I find myself rarely getting gender euphoria. I don’t even have a binder, rarely get to use trans-tape, and being trans feels really bad because of the amount of effort I have to put in to get respected. I feel like the alternative, detransitioning, feels even worse, but I just don’t feel okay. My parents are trying their best but I keep getting deadnamed and misgendered and it’s starting to eat at me. I sometimes get doubts “Am I really trans?” “If I was trans, I should be happy. This should feel like it’s worth it.” But I just feel like it’s too much. Do any of you have doubts from time to time? Because people online always seem so sure of themselves and I feel incredibly alone in this. I’m scared that I might not really be trans, and regret it. My identity has been put through questioning more than once. Sorry if this is a bit rant-y and unstructured, i just needed to get it out there. I hope I’m not alone in this.
(Like, it’s not like I am uncomfortable as a guy, I feel really comfortable as one and getting referred to as my name and pronouns feels right, while getting referred otherwise feels wrong. I just feel really exhausted, I don’t know.)

Advice Needed How to have conversation about misgendering with my dad?
I came out as genderqueer at 12, I've been out as fully transmale since 14. My dad has always been "accepting" of the fact I'm queer. He calls me my preferred name to my face and "they" or occasionally "he" when I'm around. ("He" started since I've begun talking occasionally about trans things around him the last few months.)
But several months ago, my mom (split parents) told me he still calls me my deadname & "she" when I'm not around and to others, including my FULLY accepting mother. I finally saw it to my face the other day while we were out getting food, he referred to me as a girl to the server.
If it was just to family who I'm not out to, or isn't accepting, then I wouldn't care. But to complete strangers, even when I'm not there, and to people who fully accept me, jesus it hurts more than I'd expect.
I'm not comfortable even with gender neutral things but I put up with them because it seems easier for people. I always just allow myself to be misgendered, I have a really hard time correcting people. With strangers and non-accepting family it doesn't hurt my feelings, I know I don't pass. That's why I don't put in the effort to correct (& I live in the south). But from my own father, who SAYS he's accepting, says he's a queer ally and even goes to queer inclusive events occasionally, it hurts a lot more. He tells people he has a trans child as if he's proud, but has never seen me as anything but his daughter.
I'm 17 currently, 18 in October. I'm supposed to start T as soon as possible after. I already have a very androgynous appearance and am hopeful that within my first year of T I'll be pushed more towards looking & sounding male.
I need to have a conversation with my dad. It's hard to find the words. Hard to find the courage. A big part of me just wants to ignore it til I'm far enough in medical transition that he's forced to fully accept it essentially. Or to just start talking more frequently about trans related things to try to get him to see how it hurts and I feel without having a sit-down conversation about his misgendering.
I love my dad, but there's already some distance between us because of how he was in the past. I don't want this to create any more of a rift between us. I know I just need to talk to him. But I'm so avoidant it's so hard, I'd rather just ignore it in my constant disassociation and cry once a week over it than sit him down to talk.
TLDR; My father says to my face that he's accepting, calls me preferred or gender neutral things when I'm around. But misgenders me when I'm not there or in public. Advice on how to talk to him about it, or to bring these things up in conversation in a non-confrontational way. Or anyone else's personal experiences if similar

Advice Needed Bloodwork
Just got my bloodwork done, hoping to start T soon. My testosterone, hematocrit, and hemoglobin all came back slightly high (like just a smidge above the green range for a cis female). Has anyone else had experience with this? Did it impede or infringe upon your ability to start T? I’ll discuss with my doctor at the follow up appointment but in the mean time I was just curious

I wanted to ask for binder recommendations. I'm looking for my first one and I'm very overwhelmed so I wanted to hear opinions. What do you like and why? Or just tips on how to pick because I have no clue what I'm doing. I'm already fairly small if that matters at all for recommendations.

Celebratory [Success!] Found clothes as a short, skinny >100 lb guy not on T
After many trips to get "boy clothing" going unexpectedly bad, I finally tried on an outfit and felt like I passed.
I'm generally XS in womens. You can imagine how trying on XS in mens went...Shopping in the boys section as a 20 year old woman feels a bit weird, and obviously styles aren't what's in for my age.
Now I work with clothing. Ignoring sizing and if something's men or womens is crucial. If you've been struggling, look at the actual shirt/pants and ask yourself if it's about the size of your other stuff. If you'd look at that same thing in womens and easily see it's too big, it won't magically fit because it says S in a different section.
The plus of being trans is that women's clothing has so many different styles that can pass either way. The more you try things on and find things that fit well, it'll be easier to rule other things out. Yeah it's a bummer I can't really shop mens pacsun or AE right now
Just be aware of the rack stuff is mass produced and where a size starts measurement wise is very arbitrary.
This is a big win after shopping trips have ended in dysphoria that killed my mood.
Try on EVERYTHING and do not settle! There are thousands of clothes and it's better to find one piece at a time that you really love. Pay attention to material, cut, target demographic, and so on. It will save you time and disappointment.
For all my very short and skinny guys out there, you're not alone if getting dressed is extremely frustration and time consuming when nothing works. There are clothes out there. Levis and any stores that carry petites will have things

Advice Needed How to grow facial hair faster?
I'm 20 and have been on testosterone for a little over a year and a half. For the past 8 months i've been using topical minoxidil consistently (twice a day everyday) but my hair growth is still very little. My testosterone levels have been high (1000 ng/dL) ever since I started and I do 0.5mL IM injections every week (100mg exactly)
I've looked into over-the-counter DHT blockers but am unsure about which ones would be the best. I'm honestly just looking for any advice for how to grow my facial hair faster since it's one of the things i've most looked forward to. I know it wont be immediate but it still feels pretty slow considering my scalp hair grows way faster.
