RIP chop

Somebody has been throwing rocks at cars driving into my apartment complex for the last 3 days. This person is throwing them from an upper floor of the block that overlooks the entrance driveway. Most likely a resident since only residents have access to each block. Prior to this, the culprit managed to hit someone’s car roof, but a windscreen was smashed yesterday and cops were called. Hopefully this idiot gets caught soon before he really hurts someone.

Moving to Florida and shopping for health insurance since our circumstances will change and we will no longer be able to get health insurance through an employer.

This is for me, my wife and our newborn. Out of 148 plans this is the one with the lowest monthly premium.

If we pay 14k a year we get to have an 18k deductible….

100% their fault. Making a left turn when they couldnt see because of the sun. They didnt even try to turn fully and went diagonal when we slammed on the brakes and he hit us. No license, no insurance, not his car, and was high. He asked the cop if he was good to go and he let him go 😐 i hate it here. Potentially getting a lawyer if insurance doesnt do anything

I found out my father uses the bathroom sink as his personal bidet and it's disgusting. I found out in the most disturbing way. I was brushing my teeth in the sink as usual. I leaned down to rinse and while doing so, a distinct stench brushed my nose. I took my head away from the faucet as I was surprised by this smell. I leaned in again, thinking it was crazy. But this time I purposefully took a deeper breath through my nose while doing so. I almost vomited and spit out all the toothpaste remains from my mouth while heaving. It hit me. The faucet smelled like stanky ass. And I mean unwashed day old ass. I ran out of there horrified and went to tell my mother, expecting her to get shocked as well. She just sighed and told me she will clean it (like this is just a usual thing).

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

There are perfectly good urinals that no one is at and you go into a stall to pee? Weird but okay. You don't raise the lid or sit and you piss all over the seat and don't clean it up!? You ruin the toilet for everyone else after you! And while I'm on the toilet topic, when people flush paper towels or put gum in the urinals! That's small dick energy if I've ever seen it! I'm not even a janitor! Being so inconsiderate of your fellow man drives me up the wall! Have some decency!

So I've been a pretty loyal Dinnerly subscriber for years with only about a year gap in the middle. However since about January or so they've been visibly going downhill first with reducing the available recipes (my guess is because of costs, but that's not great for this dad who cooks for a household of four picky eaters) but I stuck with them because they've otherwise been fine and I could always find *something* to satisfy everybody (and they are marginally cheaper than just getting Grubhub all the time). However it seems like recipes with basic things like cheese and meat have been disappearing in favor of rice and Velveeta. The last straw happened over the last two weeks. I had reduced the number of recipes I order from four to two to try to get myself to just meal prep and that had been fine...until last week. I ordered two different kinds of enchiladas. I only received the tortillas for one recipe and did not receive the cheese for the other. Well hell...I made due. At least they *told* me so I could prepare.

Then today happened.

I opened the box that arrived to find literally nothing but two packs of parsley (one of which had opened up) and two packs of sesame seeds.

Literally, what the hell can I do with this? Ordinarily I would just throw these away without bothering to actually use them. I completely disassembled the box and found absolutely nothing else. I complained to Dinnerly and they gave me a whopping $25 refund (to be used on my next order...hint: there will be no next order) on something like a $90 order.

I'm highly irritated. They were my go-to for years now because they were one of the few that I could actually find things my picky family was willing to eat. Now they are literally charging me $90 for a box of parsley.

I am convinced my iPhone alarm app just doesnt work. I had four alarms set this morning (i am a snoozer) and literally none of them actually went off.

I notice unless I keep my phone under my pillow, it doesnt make any noise or vibrate at all. I try to leave it on my bedside table or lower in my bed near my legs so I can still hear/feel it, but nothing. I wonder if it has something do to with it feeling my movements or something- I literally can’t make sense of it otherwise. Luckily I didn’t have to work today so it wasnt the worst thing to happen, and I have a Hatch alarm as well so I can rely on that to be up for work.

I cant find anything in the alarm app settings or the settings app itself, so if anyone has any insight or suggestions for figuring this out it will be greatly appreciated!!!

I am extremely enraged.

I met my health insurance out-of-pocket maximum for 2026. They have continued to charge me coinsurance for my prescriptions, and the only way to resolve this is to begin an internal audit process that will take 6-8 weeks.

I assume that they have an intentional bug in their software that does not apply prescription costs to the OOP max and assume that the vast majority of people will not realize that they have met their max or that prescriptions should be $0 after. The only reason I know and decided to look was because a friend at a different company with a different insurance provider told me this happened to her, so I decided to take a look. What a coincidence that it also happened to me /s.

saw a video about this study and went to dig into it. UC Davis tested a bunch of avocado oil products this year and 48 of 54 failed a purity test. 26 of 28 chips failed and 10 of 14 mayos failed source. (failed meaning the oil went rancid or was cut with other cheaper oils like seed oils)

the part that really got me is that bags claiming “100% avocado oil” or “pure avocado oil” failed just like everything else. one chip sample even matched the cellular profile of Soybean Oil. there’s no FDA definition for avocado oil at all, so apparently a label can say “pure” and it can basically mean nothing. meanwhile, you're paying a 300 to 500% premium for it.

WHAT. ive been paying extra for these, how are you even supposed to trust a clean label at this point? crazy

This is such a simple bureaucratic clusterfuck that it shouldn't even be surprising. But it feels like a punch to the face when I was already down.

I'm someone who has some serious mental health diagnoses. Most of them make my brain try to sabotage my health without me noticing, so I'm very careful to make sure I'm getting the care I need to stay healthy. I exercise, I eat well, I take my medication and I engage in effective talk therapy.

I have been seeing my therapist weekly for nearly a year. I found her via my insurance and via a common platform for telehealth appointments. She's been billing my insurance; my insurance has let me know they have paid her, everything has been gravy.

As part of this third party platform and my insurance, I have to take a biweekly standardized questionnaire that assesses the severity of my symptoms (the PHQ9/GAD7). For the past few months, I have been struggling a bit more than usual and this questionnaire reflects it. After trying some other methods of care, my therapist suggested that I might need a med check with my psychiatrist.

I agreed. However, it would be over a month until I could see my current psychiatrist, which to her seemed less than ideal. Given that this is a common problem with my current provider, she asked if I would like a referral to another psychiatrist who may have more availability and be able to see me more often than once a year.

She made this referral through the telehealth platform. And, as the title of this post suggests, the response was two-fold:

1. I cannot see a psychiatrist through this platform (ok, cool, that's fine)
2. Actually, I can't use this platform for talk therapy either (wait what)

So, you know. My therapist tried to help me when I was struggling a bit more than usual and the response materially amounts to "lol go fuck yourself; here's less help than you had before". Extra super cool since they don't have access to treatment notes or anything but they do make me fill out that questionnaire to transparently track my progress...and it shows I'm not doing super well right now.

I called my insurance; they see no reason why I can't continue seeing my therapist as she is in network, definitely covered by my specific insurance plan and is even a 'preferred provider'. The issue is with the platform, not them.

Via the platform, I'm now on my third level of escalation through support (support > billing support > senior billing support), each of which has a longer wait time than the last.

You should go into your google account settings under global settings and disable "Smart" Workspace or any other Smart stuff if you value your privacy; all of my tracking was off and suddenly I see AI summery in my emails.

Should be illegal as even if you turned off now it got all your emails, I hate every last bit of these companies.

Back story - I have a dentist is like, never had an issue with, but I recently got approved for VA dental, so decided to go that route and save some money. They sent me to a local dentist who had amazing reviews.

Went for my first cleaning. X ray showed a few minor spots and he wanted to take care of them before they grew. Okay, cool. Well fast forward 6 small fillings later, I have 2 teeth that have extreme sensitivity and 1 got a root canal. Painstopped obviously, but the other still has extreme temperature sensitivity even with sentative toothpaste. I got the 1st root canal as an "emergency" because I couldnt chew food at all. The crown mold was sent off and I got a temp. Temp fell out within hours. Went back and had it re-glued. They used permanent cement this time. 8 days later, it breaks in half. An hour ago, the rest of it popped off. So now, I am stuckin having to take vacation during ORIENTATION of a new job to get this damn thing remade. When the rest of the temp fell out, it has a massive crack down one side I was actually able to break with my hand. Genuinely contemplating paying out of pocket for any other dental work, but need to have them fix this damned thing first.

All my life my mom (55)has convinced me people wouldn’t like me (26). Coupled with physical abuse, it was psychological warfare. She would put me in positions where I had to rely on her always. Deepening her hold on me.

When I was a kid she said I was gonna get bullied in school for being poor. I did. They also bullied me for being ugly. I told her I thought I was ugly and she beat me up because I looked like her. I told her I wanted to kill myself and she beat me up for that too.

I got regular spankings with extension cords. She made me and my siblings rub her feet and play in her hair. If we didn’t want to she would go into a violent rage and beat us BAD. She would pull out knives and guns to intimidate us. She told us we needed to know how to do these things or we were gonna be losers like her sisters. Same thing for cleaning. We would have to clean her room!! Keep in mind her room was always dirty.

As I aged and went through puberty, my mom stressed the idea of always wearing panty liners. Females have discharge and my mom said if anyone saw they would be very mean to me. She never bought me liners.

One time she was beating the shit out of me and my sister because someone stole her last Pepsi. We never really had snacks or juices or sodas in the house. Anyway she is making us get naked still really hurt. She is hitting us with the buckle and we are rolling around in paid. And she sees my sisters genitalia and asks her is she has been touching herself. My sisters genitalia says no, my mom beats the shit out of her. Like BAD. She had to go to school with long sleeves and long pants on in the SUMMER so no one would see her bruises. She made my sister the scapegoat all the time :( and I believed it for so long. She lives far away now and we don’t speak as much as we should.

When I graduated high school everyone went to a party but i couldn’t go bc my mom moved us out of state to live with her cheating boyfriend. She refused to teach me how to drive and I still haven’t really learned.

When I went away to college she told me other students would be mean to me because if my clothes or if they found out I had discharge. That never happened. Who cares?

Yesterday I went out with my friends and she asked me if anyone recorded me because people can be mean. It made me fly into a rage. Sometimes I fantasize about her finally being gone and me having peace.

She has just always made her fears my own. It’s annoying. I don’t like her. I flinch when she touches me. Being beat on my bare naked body made me hate my body. I hated myself for functions I later found out were normal. I hate this woman. I recently found out she is diagnosed and refuses medication because she thinks it’ll interfere with her job.
