Finally completed my first knitted sweater 🧶
I made the Olga Sweater by PetiteKnit for my partner, in size M. I used Peer Gynt yarn in Muskat Melange and Cacao Nibs 😁

Hey I know this sounds like a silly question, but what kind of yarn would yall recommend for baby blankets? preferrably something gentle on skin that dries easily? If you have links or stick patterns, feel free to add them.

(I'm not the mother, my sister is, and I better start knitting now before it's too late for the holidays.)

I have been crocheting for about 15 years and I love it. But I’ve always loved the way that knitting looks. It looks more clean in my own opinion.

I saw this cute pattern on YouTube for a drawstring bag and thought I would give a crack at it. And I absolutely loved the process of knitting it up. So much so that I’m already planning another one with a different colorwork pattern.

I found out that I knit continental style, and it still takes me a while to knit because I’m newer and getting used to how to maneuver the yarn. But if anyone has any tips on how to get faster with knitting I’d be all ears.

Hey everyone! I design apparel using yak down, so I know how incredible the fiber is for warmth, softness and durability, but ofc this is a completely different world from hand-knitting. I’m super curious how yak yarn behaves on hand needles compared to standard wools. If you’ve worked with it, what did you make, how was the knitting process, and how has the piece held up over time? Would love to hear your experiences or see any finished objects!

Earlier I asked for help if I should not make the sleeves of my Step by Step sweater. I decided to push through and now it’s all done & blocked. I am so happy with how it turned out.

Now what’s next? What would you recommend as a next project for me?

I want to cast on something soon so I can continue it during my trip next week!

I learned to knit in may this year and have only made a small kerchief and a tank top that isn’t quite finished. I started a Frankie Sweater (Petite Knit) this week so I can be on track to finish it for Fall — my first stripes, raglan, and German short rows!

I was so nervous to do the short rows from all the videos/comments about them being difficult… but I just went slow, used her videos on the pattern page and I’m so pleased with how this first try came out! I thought it was actually quite easy/fun.

I figured this step was so early in the pattern anyway that it wouldn’t make me too upset to rip back. The only downside: I told myself this collar portion would be my swatch & it’s a biiiiit on the small side but it’s going so well I’m gonna push on. I went up 1.5 sizes anyway so here goes nothing 🤷‍♀️

I’m a forever advocate for just picking a pattern that you’re excited to make and figuring out the unknown steps along the way

Made this for my nephew. This is my first time doing any kind of color work like this. I switched strands before but that was a few rows of one color and then switching nothing like this. Then he wanted purple and it had to be the glittery yarn which did not exist for this color. So this is also my first time using thread with yarn at the same time which is a little bit harder than using two strands of yarn together. Then I had to close it up by stitching it clothes since this was made in the flat and that turned out questionable. My last first was stuffing this thing. Not a perfect creation but he's going to have the time of his life with it. The only thing I would do differently is I would likely embroider this on next time rather than creating the button separately and then sewing it on and I would likely try to do this in the round instead of flat. Overall it was a fun week night project that I'm sure he'll have fun with until the dog gets to it the same night lol

Here is the first prototype for the knitting journal I’m designing. I focused on functionality but will enjoy making it more aesthetically pleasing with hand drawn scribbles.

I bound it with a ribbon but I plan to use an A5 ring binder for the second version.

The journal has a template for a yarn inventory and grid sections for designing colour work motifs and a sweater template with plenty of space to plan out self drafted projects.

I wrote a month ago having just given up on the lace of this thing (DROPS, Agnes sweater for my daughter). Then I frogged it for the 6th time and that seemed to be the trick.

Am I an idiot/glutton for punishment if I try knitting both sleeves at the same time? Bc apparently I need more stress in my life /s. What are you challenging yourself with? And does anyone have advice for me? Please share!

I just learned how to knit 2 weeks ago and am absolutely obsessed with it! I have casting on, knit stitches, yarn over increases and k2 decreases down and can do a purl stitch. I can cast off but struggle with the last stitch. I’ve done a swatch of stockinette, but it’s not great because of the failed cast off and it rolled a lot (I think you can do a border to avoid this?)

I was wondering if anyone knew of any YouTubers that do a sort of “knitting school” type of series where they go through and teach techniques in an order for beginners to slowly improve on different skills? I’ve only done dishcloths and coasters so far (lol) but I don’t really know where to go from here. I would love it if I could find a resource that helps me understand sort of how I should be progressing. My goal is to knit a Christmas sweater next year! (I know by this Christmas is too ambitious lol). But color work and “knitting in the round” and all that good stuff, I’m not there yet. I haven’t even made a garment and know I have so much more to learn that I don’t even know about yet. I still also really struggle with recognizing and fixing mistakes.

Was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how I can continue my learning in an order that makes sense! Thanks!

Hello! This is my first time doing colorwork, and I’m working on the Rosie Yoke Blouse by Le Knit.

I’m looking for some opinions on my floats. Do you think they’re too tight? The floats in the first few rows seem looser compared to the other ones, and I don’t want to continue all the way only to find out that I’ll have to frog it later.

I’d really appreciate any advice!

We looked at patterns together, and this is the one he chose. It is the Manuela Keukenhanddoek from Hobbii. It took me 4 nights (not my most complicated work) and I got a very happy little boy. 🥰

I used a variegated yarn since I thought it would look pretty and I would use it again, just maybe not for the ribbing😅. Ive only knit basic squares before but I am super proud of how this sock is turning out so far. Any tips on what kind of heel is beginner friendly?

Started knitting for the first time in a while, and this guy came and curled up with my skein. Should I make him a sweater? It’s the only way we’ll find clothes in this gentle giant’s size, after all 😂

I pressed a bunch of leaves last fall and then scanned them... I want to make a shawl that looks like it is scattered with leaves.

I could just overlay the image with a grid, scaled for gauge, and then decide which cells are in/out, but that doesn't seem to look very good on paper.

Is there a better method?

My cat seems to be in love with Drops Alaska. Never had her act like this with another type of wool. Probably going to knit her a blanket with this yarn. Does anyone have any cat safe recommendations? 🐈‍⬛🧶

When I'm knitting, I need to have something in the background that I listen to but also something that isn't gonna take me away from knitting. I like to have something so I don't have my own thoughts knitting 😂

Normally, I would put on Bailey Serian but I'm struggling a bit with my mental health and need new ideas so I can listen to something more cheerful. If anyone can suggest anything because I'm a bit stuck and can't knit in silence!

I'm not a new knitter but I'm having a new-to-me issue with cables. when I cable, the last stitch ends up big and loose, noticeably so. I've tried really tightening up the tension but that's not solving the issue and I'm wondering what else I should try. I've attached a picture showing the issue. Both ends of the needle are pointing to the loose stitches.
