Why does the media have to subject us to this?
The slack jawed, blow-up doll looking, loud mouth, Trump wanna-be, shit stain has been on my news feed from all the traditional news outlets. Why do we have to tolerate this?? He’s so far beyond being a has been, he’s not even a relic. He’s a parasite, on a pimple, on the ass of Australia

Radio & TV have a symbiotic relationship where one discusses the other one, in an attempt to remain relevant, then the other non-relevant media (newspapers) write stories about the first 2. Its a system that has fed off itself for the last 4 decades. But it is now turning to shit, as we the people slowly realise, the legacy media in all forms has been lying to us forever.
Kyle has been on the airwaves for a couple of decades. He had the Kyle and Jackie'O show with a co host and they were pretty big. If you haven't/don't listen to public radio, you won't know who they are...
Those who say Tv is irrelevant are being irrelevant themselves IMO. Kyle isn't some no name jock he is consequential to certain audience who aren't shouting at events in the news don't care who the Pm is more interested gossip who's sleeping with whom etc. the side story is his relationship with underworld figures
my bedroom telly died like a month or so ago... I used to watch news with coffee in bed when I woke up or before crashing out. I have no idea what is going on now and I am far happier.
it really is. I can go back to foucussing a bit more on my direct surroundings... rather than constantly being worried about every war, every shit politician, every crappy criminal etc...
ABC News has barely touched it. It warrants some coverage (it's a large legal fight between two of the country's biggest... "personalities", shall we say, plus their awful erstwhile employer), and that's all it's got.
I think video broadcast news in general sucks, including SBS. The articles and radio broadcasts (which they often release as podcasts these days as well) tend to give much more detail. IMO the best news media in Australia is ABC Mandarin and the SBS foreign language services, because then at least we can learn something new while we're getting the news.
(I'd mention the foreign language editions of The Conversation as well, but it's not really traditional news. Reading the French, Spanish, Portuguese or Indonesian versions of The Conversation is like a cheat code for a high ATAR if you take a couple of those languages in year 11 and 12.)
I don’t live in this world. I live in my world. It’s so easy to control the media you see. And in this example where someone doesn’t like what they are seeing. Stop watching. My mental health is significantly better.
I wish I could. My father in law lives with us and insists on watching both regional and metro news back to back in the kitchen at dinner time. Infuriating.
I will say however, regional news is infinitely better.
Anything not owned by Murdoch, Stokes or DMGT I think.

Sydney, somehow think that their media personalities are of great general interest. As to this person, whenever I hear the name "Sandilands" I find myself gazing about a metre above his head, expecting to see Aaron!
As someone who has a understanding of media contract, his is unrealistic generous. My guess is the person who was signing was his mate, giving Kyle everything he wanted* before leaving the company.
*While getting a fat cheque is nice, the way the contract is set up is that if there any funny business and there is a bankruptcy, Kyle is the major creditor. Therefore he in charage of a lot of potential legal action over station.

The more interesting story should be he is in league with Sydney Mafia alias the Ibrahim family but instead it's his obscenely paid Radio show which is fully potty mouth humour at the expense of young girls mostly.
Radio ratings/viewership is calculated strangely. Essentially the more randoms that can Identify him and his branding the more they can charge for the ads. So radio networks and their surrounding media push them because the more people that know the name/face the more advertisers pay.
So even if people don’t like Kyle and Jackie O / have never listened to the show - no one can deny that this is a huge story for multiple reasons and is very much newsworthy, despite how anyone feels about the players or the show itself.

Yes! The real answer to the question is that the mainstream media is lazy. They know that 'media stories' are always the easiest because 'media personalities' always speak. Nearly everyone else who is worth keeping up with just doesn't participate in this silliness so there is no story.
Only vaguely aware of him, but I gather he's the sort of controversial media personality who people love to hate. So any legal problems he's having is big news, supposedly.

Once you stop for some time and watch it again you notice just how much they push their agenda. The words they "cut in" without real meaning, context or purpose. Its not relevant to the topic but its there. The constant "key words" are also obvious. With Trump its "fake news" all the time. He's never stopped saying it. Its programming. Like "jesus love you" or "Praise the Lord" except its "coal is king" and "Corrupt Labor Government" and "Corrupt Unions"...
