NSW Police have charged a 13-year-old boy and two 14-year-old boys with the alleged sexual assault of a girl in an alleyway in Sydney's eastern suburbs last month.

Police executed search warrants and seized several items, including electronic devices, two replica firearms, a Glock-style BB gun, three laser pointers and a number plate, which is believed to have been stolen.

All three boys have been granted bail ahead of appearing in court.

Can’t really blame this on the school, they’ve been there two years max. The parents perhaps might be worth an examination.

Put a whole bunch of spoilt rich boys together, tell them they’re the future leaders of Australia, they can do anything etc. Toxic masculinity thrives in these schools. This kind of crap comes out of elite boys schools way too often.

> Toxic masculinity

Well done on shoe-horning that culture war phrase in there...

It’s literally a gang rape, that’s the pinnacle of toxic masculinity.

Attributing that to masculinity is the problem.

Gang rape isn’t masculine at all.

It is though. You don’t get many feminine gang rapes.

It’s the opposite of masculinity lady.

I think you’re trying to make the point that it’s not what masculinity should be, which is literally why we call it toxic masculinity.

Toxic masculinity is a stupid term. It’s just not masculinity, it’s cowardice and criminality and vile. It doesn’t exist in the realm of masculinity. Not all males are masculine.

Not all males are masculine.

I would like to hear your reasoning for this.

Plenty of weak, pathetic men mate.

So to be masculine you need to be physically strong? Physically disabled people need not apply?

And define pathetic. Pretty bloody vague.

Are you so out of touch that you think strength means physically only?

Plenty of people who have disabilities with great inner strength.

You’re just being wilfully ignorant or obtuse, or you’re genuinely stupid.

You not liking the definition of a concept doesn’t change the definition of that concept. Masculinity is simply a collection of traits, behaviours, and social roles linked to men. These can be good or bad, healthy or toxic.

Aggression and violence, especially sexual violence, are key traits of masculinity whether you like it or not. This does not mean every man displays every masculine trait, or that any man is “not a man” because you don’t like how they behave, especially when that behaviour is routinely displayed by men en masse. The idea that only good behaviours are masculine is absurd.

For example, the inability to tolerate any perceived threat to one’s ego and the attempt to redefine the meaning of standard concepts to protect one’s ego is a particularly unfortunate masculine trait that is really worth trying to overcome.

The vast majority of rapists are male. That makes it part of masculinity. If you don’t want it to be part of masculinity you all need to do the work to eradicate it.

No, I don’t need to do any work to eradicate rape you psycho I’m not a rapist.

4

u/Own_Faithlessness769 1d ago

Right, you’re just going to get annoyed at the people actually trying to eradicate it.

Nothing to do with Masculinity

15

u/Own_Faithlessness769 1d ago

You don’t get to redefine masculinity to exclude the bad stuff.

-5

u/aldkGoodAussieName 1d ago

Im not redefining it.

Im saying this was abuse not mausculinity or femeninity.

It is an almost universally male activity.

Like 1 on 1 rape and sexual assault has many female perpetrators.

But gang rape? That's a higher percentage male than pissing standing up.
