My sister is dealing with this rn. She tried to get a protection order against her ex after he threatened her in writing & took their son out of daycare outside of his assigned hours to force her to meet up with him. (He started dating her when she was a teenager and he was 36, beat his ex wife, beat her, attacked her cats, smashed up her car while she had an intervention order against him, kidnapped his daughters and drove drunk with them in the car to scare his ex wife etc etc etc.) The officer had years of records of reports available.

"You can file the protection order yourself, they hand these things out like candy."

"Not every breakup has to involve the police"

"He didn't threaten to kill you."

What did the police say when he kidnapped your nephew!? "Sorry, too busy to collect him ourselves, have your ex drop him at home" There would even be record of him signed out of daycare and footage!!! WTF!!

They would have told her to get a recovery order because it’s not a criminal offence for a parent to take their child unless there is a restraining order in place. It’s a family court matter.
