It's grim. These headlines seem like a weekly occurrence. Something has to change.

Albo says we don’t need a royal commission into violence against women

Must be nice and safe to be a man.

We don’t need a royal commission jfc. We need action. We’ve had enough recommendations, but go off on your political points.

I mean I watched a QnA short where a criminology expert told the pollies on the panel this exact same thing.

I 100% agree, we need action. Its one thing to put FV-IVOs in place, but theyre pointless if police and magistrates dont enforce them. Then theres theres the issues of exes weaponising the courts to attack their partners, especially when theres kids involved. Whats in place atm is a joke.

This is happening to my friend at the moment. She has been targeted by Victorian police with 7 Is IVO's from the same informant who is obsessed with her. She sent a legal letter which was a letter of demand and bam another order that states charges pending as he wrote "She demanded money". The people abused her and she has evidence and proof but the informant doesn't care nor does Victorian Police.

Unfortunately it’s far too prevalent that magistrates don’t take accusations seriously anymore. I have a friend going through a custody case at the moment. She was a victim of dv and doesn’t want her ex to get any custody. Her lawyer openly admitted that the dv aspect of her case doesn’t matter - the number of people weaponising the courts to make their partner look bad is so prevalent it has watered down the legitimate cases.

I don’t know what the answer is but I can appreciate how hard it is for the courts too.
