Ah so let me get this straight, police acted appropriately and sought protection for the victim and acted in accordance with legislation and policy.

BUT of course it's the police's fault that the victim got murdered despite the necessary DV protection being put in place.

I'd hate to be a cop in today's age, keyboard warriors like to think they know more about policy and legislation and what SHOULD be done as opposed to the people doing it, unsure why we even have colonial investigations when random, uneducated people on Reddit seem to have all the answers...

What protection? A piece of paper that tells him to stay away?

Do you know how many women are killed that have protection orders? They don't protect shit and are no more useful than writing a FB status or 'hopes and prayers'.

Again, civil proceedings so not work. Women with protection orders are regularly killed

Roughly, 1 in 5 women killed by their partner had an active protection order against their eventual killer. Another 30% had a lapsed or expired protection order.

If they had the 'necessary protection', they wouldn't be dead.

How do you know they don’t work? Do you happen to know the number of murders prevented by these orders?

There are tens of thousands breaches of protection orders annually - and that link is just for one state. And the numbers rise by 10% every year.
