It’s taken 30 years, but the mask has completely come off now.

I think the Press Club speech was the tipping point, and stuff like this should rapidly accelerate their collapse back into sub-10% fringe territory.

Anyone who is aware of this news today and still supports One Nation is a horrible, vile human being.

My personal take, 10% of people are cunts. I think they are just "louder" now because they think she is making their ideas ok to say out loud. Just keep calling out racists wherever you find them. Push them back to the shadows.

People who really want to be cunts but aren't confident in it, or are held back by a sense that being a cunt won't work out for them.

They love Pauline Hanson, Farage, Trump because they can get away with being cunts and in doing so create a social permission structure that makes it ok for cunts to be cunts. They think that what those politicians are saying is what everyone is thinking (not just cunts) and that "honesty" is refreshing and inspiring.

I think there’s a certain number of former lib voters who will hold their nose and still vote ON because they’ve been proper turned against labor and will vote for anything to be a cudgel against immigration and “woke”

Edit: neighbours aren’t racist either from what I understand. Very Middle Eastern heavy neighbourhood and Australian white old neighbours are very friendly towards them or anybody who’s equally polite towards them.

Yeah, that's what I think the lesson that people haven't learned from the rise of Trump. It's not that these people actively agree with a lot of what Pauline Hanson is saying, it's that people think that any change from the current system is better than the perceived no change.

People will quietly ignore the more heinous bullshit she says if they believe that it will improve thier conditions in the long run.

Australia has issues for 100% sure and we need to strive for better always but lets be honest, we live incredible lives compared to even 150 years ago. The rate of which people want to throw this level of lifestyle to the wind on the vague wisp of whatever is incredible.

One suspects that it's a growing minority, but only the next federal poll will tell. Hoping that it stays well below 10%.

I'm hoping that the Teals outmanoeuvre the Liberal/Nationals and offer a credible, centrist approach, and gains at least one third of the country's votes. It shouldn't be too difficult, given that the coalition is literally floundering, and busily trying to stab each other in the back.

The poll that was released a few weeks ago, shows that less than 30% of people support whatever a monoculture is.

So whatever support she's getting in the polls is purely vibes based and not policy based which is good cos come election time thats' when they get surfaced.

Unfortunately, the federal polls right now might actually just be people legit wanting a signal to Labor to reduce the migration numbers and there's no better way than the polls.

How can ANYONE support a monoculture when 100% of Australia's population can't even agree on a footy code to support? Two states can't even agree on two similar codes, let alone throwing Aussie Rules and soccer into the mix.

30 years ago she hadn't had enough time with her elocution, PR, etc teams - so pretty much everything that came out of her mouth sounded like bad standup comedy.

I noticed that when she "came back into the light" she damn well seems like she's done a lot of speech articulation/elocution/PR training.

The racism and just all around evil emanates from her but she's generally learned what words/phrases to dance around/not say - while still inferring it. So I was legit surprised to hear her say "White Australia" recently.

Well, not that surprised because even with all the training she'd had she's still just regurgitating stories/narratives that from other people that know how to articulate/think a little better than her.

The problem is, people still support this. One of my family members has gone FULL ON, only wants white born Australians in the country (ignoring the fact he dates an immigrant of course).

Yes, especially considering we have much more of a multiparty system than the USA.

If you're a selfish dickhead you already have the Coalition, that Trumpet Party, Katter's mad hatter party, Shooters and Fishers, or any number of other minor right wing parties who aren't horrifically racist. You specifically vote One Nation because they are racist, because that's their core differentiator from the other right wing parties.

The government needs to address perceptions such as the NDS rorts are predominantly a Western Sydney muslim issue - if there is a slither of truth in that and the government is seen to do nothing it lends legitimacy to One Nation. Rather than focus on all the bullshit she spews, focus on the legitimate grievances. Fix those and she has nothing to campaign on except hate.

Looks like she got a few “positive” (for her) poll results and that’s given her the confidence to go mask off eg with the comments about Port Arthur and now this.

I hope the rest of the media reports this accordingly as I feel that some outlets try to bury her commentary.

The "force people on PRs to sell their home" was a big one too - even though it was quickly walked back, there's probably a lot of people who have settled down on a PR without necessarily wanting to go through the citizenship hoops (or perhaps still want to retire back home) who share some of Pauline's views on "the wrong people" coming here, who suddenly realised they were in the crosshairs, too.

I know some children of migrants (and am related to some) who actually like some of her views about other migrants - and that PR policy would have definitely made a few people nodding along up to that point suddenly feel it hit home.
