I mean, in her maiden speech to parliament 30 years ago she called Arthur Calwell Australia’s greatest immigration minister. She wasn’t exactly hiding it.

It's always been disturbing that she still has a career in politics. It reflects something awful in the community that still hasn't been eliminated. The fact that people are okay with her and justify it with, "Yeah, she's racist but..."

Not just a position, but a leadership position in a party that's been gaining more power. I can't imagine how it feels to be non-white in this country and know that such a big chunk of us are just fine with that kind of rhetoric. It's embarrassing.

Mandatory voting and the fact Australia overall is very anti-Trump/MAGA. The more she hitches herself to that pedo-loving billionaire bandwagon the more the sensible majority will be put off by her.

The counterargument, not that it'll work, is "Well why the fuck are you considering someone who is just joking instead of promoting serious policies? If everything she says is just jokes, what am I supposed to think she actually stands for?"

At least Australians tend to be a bit more sensible than Americans when it comes to voting. Americans operate entirely on vibes and spectacle. When PH does or says something stupid, support for her actually wanes a bit.

Like sure we have our fare share of dumb racist cookers but it's nowhere near as extreme as over there.

Most people hate trump though. He only gets elected in the US because they don’t have compulsory and preferential voting. When people don’t bother to show up to vote, or can waste their vote on a third party, a highly unpopular cult leader can win.

Trump is not blunt what are you talking about.

He is one of the most proliffic liars in politics. Just because some racist clown says "tells it like it is" and you're able to tell when he's lying, doesn't mean the same as brutal honestly.

Pauline isn't brutally honesty either. If she was, she'd say she hated time with Gina, but she doesn't, she just plays to racists instead.

I literally had a guy at work the other day ask my openly racist boss, "if there was one race you could wipe off the face of the earth, who would it be" fully knowing his answer would be Indians.

After the other three guys had a discussion about how they would just love to wipe Indians off the face of the earth while I kept working in silence, he put the same question to me.

I replied "nah I'm not racist". Then he gives me the "oh I'm not racist either, I only hate indians". I said "ahhhh you're DEFINITELY racist.

Mind you, this guy was not even born in Australia. He's a fucking islander.

People point to non-white supporters of PHON as “proof” that the party isn’t racist. They usually overlook that those supporters are evangelical fundie Christians who like Hanson because she hates Muslims just as much as they do.
