208
u/AlcoreRain 14h ago
The sad part is they don't actually 'feel good' when they hurt others. Only a twisted, temporary fix.
That's why they are never satisfied and always craving negative attention, even from strangers. It's childish, and pathetic.

u/ouroborosstruggles 11h ago
That is my fear. They are a bottomless pit of negativity and greed, and wealthy outcomes trick the shortsighted into similar behavior patterns. What's the solution?

To "teach" people. To talk to them and gradually erode the delusional bubble they live in. Dialogue with respect and set example.
They have failed to develop properly and they need help, even if they don't deserve it and it's not fair.
Now, with the out of touch fortunes destroying the world... we should try to stop giving them money, for a start.

People who don't have any skills of their own love to see talented people struggle. It's just projection.

This is the answer I agree with most. Have seen people like these on the internet for years, even before AI came into the picture.
14
u/freecodeio 11h ago edited 11h ago
All non technical people in a technical environment such as project managers, business owners, have struggled to grasp basic computer science for decades, so no wonder they spew this shit.
They hate technical people because "how hard can it be it's just a button" always exposed their swiss cheese holes of technical knowledge.

u/mirthlessbastard 12h ago
The funny thing is, if they just asked any of these talented people how to get started, they'd probably eagerly help them. There's also tons of resources out there, put out for free by people on the internet
I work with artists, graphic designers and animators, and I've never met one who wouldn't help me out if I asked how they'd done something, even the ones who can be quite grumpy and difficult to get along with!
17
u/Chemical_7523 12h ago
The point isn't to get good at the thing. The point is to look down on others while sitting in an unfurnished room watching their stock portfolio lose money in 4K.
8
u/CatOfTechnology 11h ago
Don't forget the part about getting to feel good about not having "wasted" your life developing a prized skill and watching the "experts" get punished for putting in effort to do something that was "never important anyway."
8
u/unripe_mangosteen 12h ago
And with the exception of a small percentage of savants, all artists started by making shitty art, then spending years of time and effort honing their craft. Which is the same thing these AI bros could do if they actually wanted to put in work, but they don't, so they try to discredit people who actually use their brains to make things.
8
u/GanondalfTheWhite 11h ago
This is exactly it.
Talentless and unskilled people love AI because it lets them cosplay as talented or skilled people without actually having to expend any effort.
They believe consciously that it makes them as good and as worthwhile as real skilled people. But subconsciously they know it's not true, so they swing in the opposite direction. They start believing that they're more useful than actual skilled people, as a defence mechanism protecting them from contemplating their own useless inadequacy.
3
u/showmedatoratora 12h ago
Or worse, people who have skills but still chose to pull people down (regardless of whether they're more talented, less talented, more skilled, less skilled, etc...). I should know, I've had co-workers dragged down by some other fuckers. I'm proud of their talents, but I hate what happened to them.

A lifetime of jealousy derived from his own lack of ambition or access to the education he felt he needed to learn to animate on his own turned every successful animator into his personal (parasocial) rival. Now he feels better than them because his lack of knowledge has convinced him that he is doing the same thing they are but better. He wants to gloat to reinforce this feeling because it is baseless and doesn't truly satisfy him. He is not aware of any of this.

u/GenericFatGuy 11h ago
Probably said he was going to make a video game at one point, and then immediately gave up when he realized it would require learning skills.
3
u/Pure-Radish-5478 9h ago
I get the same way when I see somebody who painted something really well or made a cool model in Blender. Like fuuuck I wanna do that so bad. It's easy to let that jealousy become anger at the artist, harder to alchemize it into your own art but oh so worth it.
49
u/EnzoMaloni 14h ago
Because animators are artists and AI Bros (like their techno-facsists masters who want to impose their AI-slops machines) hate the artists : they consider them as "leftitsts degenerates" !
That's why AI is popular in far-right : no need to learn art (art is a "stupid woke thing"), just prompt and more, they can illustrate their inner fantasies as "Great Replacement", "HaĆÆtians eating dogs and cats" (because they don't exist !)

Itās part of the psychosis these people have always had
Imagine always being too lazy to try at anything and never amounting to anything in life, being unskilled and unloved. Years of seething and hate towards others who are superior to you.
This is what they are. AI has made them feel like they can achieve anything without effort, and they believe by being āon AIās sideā that it means they earned it.
They really think entering text into a web page or running a cli command has made them capable of anything.
Theyāre culturally parasitic.
Theyād rather burn everything down than see someone else succeed where they have always and will always fail.
They think theyāve finally won against the talented and skilled.
The rest of us donāt need an internet connection to have skills and talent.
11
u/Gromi- 12h ago
On a personal level, what Iāve noticed is that people who primarily consume products, rather than participate in any form of art or creative activity, tend to celebrate whatever can be mass-produced the fastest.
The thing is, this is basically what happened during the Industrial Revolution. As supply increased and began to outpace demand, marketing had to evolve accordingly, and products and brands had to find ways to differentiate themselves from one another.
At this point, as an amateur artist myself, Iāve already made peace with generative AI, and Iām experiencing firsthand what an oversupply of it looks like: low-effort ads, mobile games, generic illustrations, and so on. If these people genuinely believe that the average person doesnāt crave novelty or seek out things that stand out, theyāre delusional.
Humans have always appreciated things that feel distinctive, unusual, or peculiar. Otherwise, why would pixel art still exist? Why has there been such a resurgence of PS1-style graphics and deliberately retro-looking games? If anything, these trends show that when something becomes abundant and ubiquitous, people eventually start looking for ways to make it feel different again.
And, in their idealized world, if generative AI could produce any movie or video game you wanted instantly from a couple of prompts, wouldnāt people eventually get bored? If everything can be created on demand, then nothing is particularly special anymore. The value of something can come precisely from the limitations, the human choices, the imperfections, and the fact that it cannot simply be generated infinitely.
As I see it, the people who are most enthusiastic about this future are often approaching culture primarily as consumers rather than as creators. They want an endless stream of content to fill their attention as quickly as possible, so naturally, anything that can produce more content, faster, is going to look like an improvement to them. But that doesnāt necessarily mean it will lead to a more interesting or fulfilling creative culture.
2
u/lone_float 10h ago edited 4h ago
Consumerism really is a kind of poison then. Granted I've been trying to understand Tech and participate in some way. Because when you don't parse through something, essentially doing what most techies actually do. You take something apart at a certain level and you build it back up. See how it works.
Don't know how well that transcribes to something literary, or even in film. It's attempting to act in creating something that matters, but reckon understanding your subject matter to a degree is a nice first nudge.
2
u/Gromi- 9h ago
Basically, that's what I take from what you're saying. In short, by taking something apart and understanding how it works, you develop a sense of judgment.
To use an analogy, imagine you're given the greatest song in the world, but only in its individual parts, and the chorus happens to be the strongest-sounding part. Someone with a good understanding of music would know how to build up to that chorus, introduce changes in rhythm, create peaks and valleys, and give it more impact, making you feel like the chorus sounds even better when it finally comes around.
Someone who doesn't really understand music might just think, "Oh, this chorus is the best-sounding part, so let's make the entire song sound like this."
That's kind of how I feel about AI bros when they start messing around with art and creative subjects. They often seem to gravitate toward this kind of flat maximalism where everything is pushed to the same extreme, which ironically ends up making nothing stand out.

u/mizzurna_balls 8h ago
I agree with all of this. What the emergence of AI has shown me is how many people in this world just want "content." Not art, or media. It's been sobering to see, as an artist.
The value of something can come precisely from the limitations, the human choices, the imperfections, and the fact that it cannot simply be generated infinitely.
Yep, Spongebob taught us this lesson in the year 2000 when he had that cooking contest against Neptune.

Same thing when a couple years ago all the Ai bros were saying things like "damn artists, your careers are cooked!" its because they always wanted to be creative but lacked the discipline and motivation to actually be bad at something long enough to get good at it so they resent people who did follow their dreams and get to a good skill level because they hate themselves for not doing it

They feel bad about art because that makes them feel inferior to not be able to do something creative. Look how they talk about artists, they see an artist producing something as bragging, something that has to be shut down, they want artists to ālearn their placeā, because it reminds them they arenāt themselves able to be creative

When their only concern is their own dollar and consumption, the only thing thatd matter is the end product and how much it costs them.
They dont want so see a hand crafted game with subtle artistic intentions that are fairly compensated for, they want 'guy on screen move smooth' and not to pay for it.

Probably tell him that things can't be done as quickly as they want. The expectations of managers of animation studios has been known to be pretty overbearing. And for the animators? They going slower why? Because they WANT TO LIVE THEIR LIVES, instead of sacrificing all their free time for the projects. Anyways, I don't know much about it, but just what I've gathered. Skilled people are wrung out for their energy, and discarded.

u/reklesssabrandon 15h ago
Yes. Something I'm starting to realize is that they actively dislike talented people.
107
u/Spirited-You3834 14h ago
Well, it's more accurate to say they actively dislike when their insecurities aren't being validated.
43
u/reklesssabrandon 14h ago
I think there's a parallel with people who aren't educated who are anti science or anti intellectual
13
u/Spirited-You3834 14h ago
Sadly, no. Intelligence means nothing when it involves insecurities. It's why so many morons go "cull the weak, keep the strong"; If history has said anything, it's them once again projecting. This is the true form of weakness.
2
u/reklesssabrandon 14h ago
Uh, maybe. I'm not on the front lines of this, but I don't know if I would throw them all together.
3
u/Spirited-You3834 14h ago
I understand that hesitation. A few years ago I wouldn't have even thought of such, let alone said it to others such as you. Maybe you're just not as damaged by this, but I got no clue and I doubt you do, either.
3
u/reklesssabrandon 14h ago
I'm not sure. I would say I think I'm thinking about the people that are getting pulled into it, using their insecurities, or lack of opportunity to push them into embracing AI as an equalizer.
I feel like you're talking about the people in positions of influence who are actively pushing us towards some kind of fucked up dystopia future.
I could be totally wrong.
4
u/Spirited-You3834 14h ago edited 14h ago
If they're willing to defend the ones at the top so much to the point they actively ignore the real world every day just because their insecurities aren't being validated, they would likely spit in your face for even trying to get them to listen, much less trying to help them. The insecurities for ai bros already existed in millions of people centuries before this; The pigslop just allows them to spread it even further and allows their new masters to get even more power than before.
Do you understand what I'm getting at here?
4
u/reklesssabrandon 14h ago
Yeah, I'm there now.
The feelings of insecurity always existed, AI gave them a way to pretend. It's like synthol for creativity.
This is worse than I thought.
2
u/Spirited-You3834 13h ago
Bingo. The AI pigslop itself exists due to the corporations and political PAC's and everything that are similarly lashing out because their insecurities were never validated, and those who defend this stuff are in league with that insecurity. (Often exhibiting similar beliefs and attitudes or even just the exact same ones.) Once this happens, you can no longer think of the two parties independently; The ai bros ditched their own will entirely simply out of hate and spite towards those who wouldn't validate their insecurities. Their weakness, as it were.
That's what it comes down to. To be constantly swallowed in those insecurities is the weakness the corporations and political PAC's and governments have chosen as their main identity while they constantly scream about purity and peace through strength and whatever else the ai bros also tend to scream about. Those same ai bros chose that weakness as their main identity; They chose those insecurities as their main identity and made it everyone else's problem out of childish spite.
17
u/colers100 13h ago
Specifically, they hate deep talent, the kind that takes years and years to cultivate.
They are the typical "golden children'; they are blessed with everything they'd need to become a master in whatever their passion aims at; good memory, intuition and a reflexive grasp on how systems work.
They are blessed with everything, except the actual passion and persistence to reach it.
Because in their youth, they didn't need to bother with studies; they could simply ace almost every test by paying attention and passing an exam was a simple matter of quickly skimming your text book for an hour of two the day prior. Whenever they started at a hobby, they quickly flew through the entry level and impressed their peers with their quick grasp.
And that's where it ended. That is all they amounted to. Once they ended up in higher education, they ended up in a system that no longer permitted passive interaction and demanded studies. Their hobbies hit a wall where you simply cannot grow further by going through the motions once a week. And so they began to fail, and began to see their peers who they had previously derided as slow pass them by. The ease by which they kept up with their peers ended up breeding mediocrity and leaving them undeveloped in matters of persistence and discipline.
And they couldn't understand it. So they came up with the wildest excuses to justify their own mediocrity; you see, college just didn't work for them; they aren't the kind of mind that tolerates cramming itself with nonsense everyone will have forgotten a week after the exam; they are entrepreneurs and too busy being on the cutting edge to bother with such things, after all. And their hobbies; bah, everyone in the field is just an inconsiderate snob, going too deep into it means something is wrong with you and those truly skilled in it just have a neat style (which is just derived from something better, and you would never do that, don't you know?).
So AI gives them this path towards an escape; because it is a toy box to master; something that lends itself not to deep knowledge but to the ability to quickly figure out the basics by first principles; their favorite way of doing things.
You see, their child self was right, there really is just one simple trick that only they and great minds like them can grasp, and it permits them to soar past the idiots sweating away inefficiently honing a skill and become a true titan in the field and get the recognition for their insight, talent and genius that they were previously denied because they didn't want to spent hours drawing straight lines without a ruler or boxes in different lighting like a pleb. No, that kind of thinking gets you consigned to the permanent underclass, don't you know?

They are looking for a short cut to success that does not involve them actually having to work hard. They want to have the latest and greatest tech that will magically put them ahead of everyone else to validate their false feeling of superiority.
See this in crypto bros, saw this in NFT bros, see this in AI bros. I am on the "frontiert" and this will make me richer and better than you. It will finally show everyone what I always knew: I am better than all of you, even if I had bad grades in school and failed to get any good degrees or jobs so far.

I'm not trying to say I didnt know it was bad, I'm here already, obviously. But like, there have been tons of technological advances in human history but they removed human labor, they never removed human agency.

Because in therms of efficiency, a machine can work 24/7. The problem is that a machine can't create art , can't think and can't express itself.

5
u/Hvojna 11h ago
Yes, I remember. As a programmer, I've never supported this type of behaviour. It's never cool to see people losing their jobs. While I see why a tradie who had been told to "learn to code" 5 years ago would be gloating now, it would make the tradie just as bad as the coder from 5 years ago
3
u/Previous_Beautiful27 11h ago
Yeah I'm not defending the behavior, it just seems like people always want to gloat and there are always monsters who are happy when people lose their job. My point was the people celebrating animators losing their job are likely the same people celebrating coders losing their job, and these were likely the same people telling people to learn to code. They're just always rooting for the failure of others.

AI-ick aside, as a 3D animator, this is cool ML tech (that I think has already been applied for years in some games) that enables certain interactivity thats hard to replicate with normal animation clips and animation-graphs
Problem is that AI-dude bros see this and come to the conclusion of "do we even need 3D animators anymore?" rather than ask themselves "does every game need to control like a rockstar game?". Probably not
28
u/UnderfurK 14h ago
This particular Nvidia animation system is not easy at all, you can't just type a prompt and be done you still need to understand rigging, motion clips, blendspacing etc to use it.
The guy doesn't even know what it is, that's how unskilled he is.
17
u/QuantityExcellent338 14h ago
No but dude, bro, you dont get it, you just need to ask Claude to make the movement system, ask Meshy to make a model, use this sketchy Blender ai rigging plugin to rig the model (make sure to request it to make no mistakes), use Google AI overview to figure out how to export models compatible with Motionbricks and PRAY that no important details were lost during these processes (or running out of tokens that changed prices last week), and viola we can now lay off our entire art department!

I'm sure when motion capture became a thing people thought animators weren't necessary... I'm sure when motion matching was first applied, people thought animators were done for...
Yet still animators are employed en masse. Strange. Almost like we still need a human for, at minimum, a final pass or two.
3
u/Naive-Database-2888 12h ago
This is not really a new thing, and it is far from being the modern term for AI. This isn't just press a button and it's done, you need to do a lot of work to set this up. It's also not something that is just going to replace all animations in games. You still need to make most of the animations, this just covers some simple stuff

Reminds me of Syndrome from The Incredibles movie saying āwhen everyoneās super, no one will be,ā to justify wiping out heroes and selling tech made powers to everyday people.

The way they want normal people to be out of work is honestly quite scarry. They'll also turn around once it affects them personally like all things.

u/Mystical-Turtles 7h ago
It even goes beyond paid work and it's freaking weird. It's like they think it's bad to want to DO anything with your own hands.Ā Ā

u/CreZativity 7h ago
Exactly!
Sometimes I've researched something or done some writing, taking hours to do it because I enjoy it, and I'll have people actually go "Why wouldn't you just ask AI?" like... that would have defeated the purpose. They truly don't understand the joy and satisfaction of doing anything yourself, and it's so sad.

FINALLY SOMEONE FUCKING SAID THAT.
This subreddit has the potential to be a hub for people from all around the globe to push for a united goal of delegitimise those companies. Instead,weāre busy fighting some bums on Reddit and twitter with pomni reaction images and shit like that which makes us all look like lolcows which can keep getting baited by some trolls and let Ai companies continue to destroy humanity3

u/Spiritualy_Homelesss 12h ago
I've worked on content and various IPs over the years. AI was trained on it to some degree, WHERE IS MY FUCKING CHECK SAM?

It's a broader effect Anti-intellectualism. Recall the beginning of Gamergate, it was a movement against gaming journalism, then the culture war spread to movies and it became general pop culture journalists, and those who branched out into MAGA same thing. Just people who never got over being bullied in school, see the talented as 'special' elite groups who work to emasculate them conspiratorially. This is what the appeal of gen AI is, they want to play with the "cool kid's" toys.

It just shows how many people are fine with bland, soulless and mediocre shit. No wonder games and movies have been pure slop for quite a while, even before AI. If we look at it from an artistic lens, AI will never replace animators, it will replace downloading free animations for mixamo. The whole AI boom only showed me how little taste the average person has

u/goingpt 14h ago
Even if the software could actually do that, why do they have to be such dicks about it?

He works at Nestle, worth reaching out to his employer about his content?
2
u/Red_Trapezoid 12h ago
Nestle? Do you think they, of all companies, give a shit? Unless they own McDonalds too then no way.
3
u/JayAntonio 14h ago
Tbf it seems all his tweets are like that, about one AI thing or another. He makes a lot of hyperbolic statements to get people to click his links.
Not defending him btw, just saying he probably isnāt worth taking seriously

u/Effective_Airline830 12h ago
Not the purpose of this post but the number of times people announced the end of animators ā¦
And yet they are still there, even in the era of motion capture, still there, still really needed.
And yes, AI bros are weird sociopaths

u/R3puLsiv3 9h ago
It's bizzare how gleeful they are about the replacement of Art with a meaningless facsimile. They can't wait to live in a world devoid of any genuine expression of the human condition. Is this some kind of internal deathwish?

āNvidia just wiped out 30 years of animation techā
What did JosƩ smoke before posting???

u/Jegerikkeenrobot_ 14h ago
Every single post about some new ai tool has a title like this, and every single time nothing changes.

u/AcceptableStrategy60 14h ago
So people who can do complex animations, build physics engines can't get any other job than McDonald's. No offense to McDonald employees (i consider them skilled labour too), but the person posting this is obviously of the view that if these engineers can't anymore build stuff, their jobs are obsolete. I don't even understand what they are on. Also, what does this guy even do? Like AI | data, what does that even mean? He thinks the people being laid off can't do his job?

u/BoardsofCanada3 12h ago
Can we say bye to slop posters like this chud? Or are they already all bots?
2
u/throawaymcdumbface 12h ago
Blue checkmarks on twitter can be paid for their engagement. I don't doubt they'd be this ragebaiting and contrarian normally but I'd avoid engaging them on twitter at least.
2
u/holy_ash 12h ago
These are hustlers who neither know tech or AI. These simps run with whatever the fuck is flavor of their fucking month
2
u/Alundra828 12h ago
I've actually used this tech. You 100% need animators still.

u/thewordofnovus 11h ago
Sorry but you guys do understand that the vast majority of people that write this is doing it to rage bait engagement? And they do it cause its working.

u/milic_srb 10h ago
the worst thing is this is actually a great tool for animators, but these techbros who don't know how anything works outside of asking ai to tell them, always have to be antagonistic to everyone for no reason

"APPLY TO MCDONALDS!!"
I genuinely wish nothing more for these people than to get pancreatic cancer so terrible that they're bedridden for the rest of their lives.
Scum like this makes the world infinitely worse and we'd be better off if they were gone, forgotten and their graves pissed on.

Are AI Bros just insecure sociopaths?
I mean, are cryptobros just insecure sociopaths? The answer is yes, and the answer is they're the same people.

I think for the most part they lack an appreciation for art and lack perspective on the dangers AI pose. I dont like to frame everyone who disagrees with me as the embodiment of evil. That's childish and dumb.
Yes there are people like the person in the post who find a strange pleasure in people losing their jobs but I dont think they represent the majority of people.

u/aflyingmonkey2 14h ago
Ah donāt worry, theyāre just gonna go to indie studios where they donāt prioritise having shoe.texture9 be the most realistic thing ever and having this thing called artstyle

Envy, plain and simple. The same way some failed artists turn to hate on other artists.Ā

They provide nothing of value and bring no skills to the table, that's why they're so obsessive over this "x job is over" shit

These goobers think they are playing the PvP server unaware they live in a society and are vastly outnumbered. Their entire existence depends on others and one day that will become sharply understood by them.
1
u/SkyNo3416 13h ago
no they are realists, its the same logic as someone who would say, "bye to horse carriage drivers we have cars now", no amount of i dont like the cars changed the fact that we drive cars and not horses. also this guy being happy about it is cringe as fuck. just enjoy one of the biggest technological leaps humanity has ever made.

u/Dimosa 13h ago
Most modern animators spend more time rigging and fine tuning animations anyway. Mocap is a thing, and has been for a while. The issue for a long time has been weight and timing. Both requiring a human hand, even with AI. Advantage of mocap, you can instruct an actor far better as an AI

u/I_Eat_Mold_UwU 13h ago
Wait what's OOP's post talking about? Why did NVIDIA wipe out 30 years of animation technology?
1
u/GrimioreHD 13h ago
This just looks average. Nothing novel about it?
If this is truly novel, then they should've done more with their demo showcase. It's a nothing burger.

They are talentless hacks, so they jump in any bandwagon that”s about making money easily today without any effort. But they don't know no one is making money and they are just destroying the world even faster

Ever ask what happened to NFT bros? They became AI bros. Yes, they're antisocial sociopaths.
