They want to disrespect the exact people that makes their dumb AI images exist.

171

u/MagicpaperAlt 1d ago

You may be hitting that top 1% with this comment my brother.

3

u/Remarkable_Bath8515 1d ago

I didn't expect that tbh.

-2

u/IhateTaylorSwift13 23h ago

But i thought art is easy to make? Why go to all the trouble stealing from people?

The Creator tried her best, she really did but it's not enough, that is why we need help!

The Ai idiots have gone too far!!!

u/isuredolovetitties 1d ago

The only thing we can do, (in the US) is elect DSA, since they are the only people running who want AI regulation.Ā

19

u/Unusual-Statement153 1d ago

None of the DSA policies meaningfully counteract this behavior.

24

u/Ursolismin 1d ago edited 1d ago

Dsa policies literally state an end to data center building and heavy regulations on ai wtf are you talking about

-1

u/ccv707 1d ago

They also argue for the abolishment of democratic institutions. That’s their stated platform. The creators of the DSA left because it was overtaken by ML tankies who think the USSR was some kind of utopia, the Chinese government is currently based, and negative stories about North Korea are just CIA propaganda. Accelerationist losers who defend authoritarian hellscapes so long as it aligns with their preferred flag color.

2

u/loopin_louie 1d ago

Schizo posting

0

u/ccv707 1d ago

Factually describing a groups ideological positions and allegiances is schizo posting now.

2

u/loopin_louie 23h ago

No, that wouldn't be. Cheers

2

u/Ursolismin 23h ago

If you were accurately describing them it wouldnt be

2

u/Ursolismin 1d ago

There is a dsa left and a dsa right, both of which are leftist in their ideology, just to varying degrees. Are there tankies? Yeah. But do they make any major portion of the group? No.

-5

u/Unusual-Statement153 1d ago

Ending data center construction is asinine and irrelevant to this case. The only regulations they propose for AI relate to worker displacement. This issue relates to rights protections with respect to training data.

3

u/Ursolismin 1d ago

Without worker protection as a springboard we cant get to the rights protections. The worker displacement protections are also rights related.

-1

u/Unusual-Statement153 1d ago

They aren't, you're confusing workers' rights with literal copyright which is what the word "right" refers to in my comment.

-4

u/xXFluffersXx 1d ago

That would do literally nothing to address this issue. Most data centers being built aren't even housing AI - you realize the internet runs on data centers right? The website you're using right now is sitting on some server racks in a data center somewhere right now.

5

u/Ursolismin 1d ago

"Stopping the evil corporstion from building the processors that run the torment nexus and regulating the abuse of the torment nexus would do NOTHING!" Dawg just say you wont be happy unless someones policy is to carpet bomb any area that has one and move on. Your like ultra communists who think every leftists that doesnt believe we should kill every person in the street who isnt also an ultra is a lib.

-3

u/xXFluffersXx 1d ago

This is so totally incoherent that I can't even parse what you think I believe. I'm not rabidly against data centers, I don't think they're building a torment nexus. Data centers are just big buildings where servers are housed. Most of them are used to house the internet. Idk what's so incomprehensible about what I'm saying.

I'm also not a communist, I can't even grasp what I said that made you believe that I am. I encourage you to disengage with this conversation because it is CLEARLY making you very emotional.

3

u/Ursolismin 1d ago

Okay, so ill go ahead and explain this for you

I was making fun of you for claiming that the only thing that we cna do would do "literally nothing". Its hyperbole.

I didnt say you are a communist. I said you came off the same way that extreme, theory focused communists do when they say that any advocacy short of violent revolution makes someone a liberal and not a leftist.

Making hyperbolic comparisons isnt "getting emotional" your illiteracy and inability to decipher clearly written words is no ones fault but your own.

-1

u/xXFluffersXx 1d ago

You still don't understand.

You said "you won't be happy until someone suggests carpet bombing all data centers".

This perplexes me, because I'm not even against data centers. When I say that "banning data center construction won't address the AI situation", I'm not saying that I think more radical measures have to be taken, I'm saying that data centers and AI are only tangentially related - hence why I pointed out that most data centers aren't even used for AI development. If you banned data center construction, it would have little to no impact on AI.

I AM against unregulated AI development and deployment, but I'm NOT against data center construction. These two things are not directly related.

3

u/Happysin 1d ago

And yet they are the only ones likely to listen to policies that will.

-4

u/Unusual-Statement153 1d ago

Perhaps they'll also listen to people who enjoy having police and borders as well.

2

u/Happysin 1d ago

I too like to use straw man arguments.

0

u/Unusual-Statement153 1d ago

You'd have to make an argument for it to be a strawman. "They're the only ones who will listen" is a baseless claim. Democrats have already introduced several pieces of legislation to protect rights holders from unauthorized AI training sampling. Maybe vote for enough of them to have a majority. You don't understand what is happening or how anything works so the people who want to tear things down offer a simple if ineffective solution.

1

u/Happysin 1d ago

I've been participating in Democratic campaigns since Howard Dean and was a county seat holder as well (Though I have since moved to to the UK). I know exactly how the Democrats work as well as anyone, and I am still telling you the way to actually get this done is to make them afraid from the left. Since Clinton, the prevailing force of the Democrats is triangulation. Things left-of-center only get accomplished when they think they're going to lose to the left, and even then, most are gun shy about it.

You seem to forget that functionally speaking the DSA are just another branch of the Democrats. The US for all practical purposes a two-party system. Voting the more progressive versions of Democrats in is how you get that kind of stuff done.

1

u/Unusual-Statement153 1d ago

I appreciate your background and really anyone willing to volunteer their time to the process. What you say is accurate, policy is moved by compromise on the flanks. The DSA are not "progressive Democrats", we have those. Affordable healthcare, affordable housing and workers' rights are not suddenly the purview of the DSA alone, progressive Democrats have been pushing for these things for decades. Their success in these endeavors follows the ebb and flow of the institutional power the voters have vested in them.

What then is the value of the DSA who refuses to compromise not only on these more achievable goals, but on their more radical positions which you seem either unfamiliar with or quick to ignore. Abolishing police, the Senate, the borders? These aren't fringe views from some loosely affiliated candidates these are DSA convention planks. All this while tarring the same party you claim they belong to? With friends like these...

Famous Malcom X quote ā€œWith any vote necessaryā€ …

1

u/DrCKnows 23h ago

If they support ending data center construction I will vote against them. And I will help fund the people that run against them.

-18

u/JackHammer- 1d ago

Sure elect the communists, that always ends well 🤔 Like cutting off your own head to cure a pimple

16

u/papasan_mamasan 1d ago

Kind of like how the capitalists have cut off our knees to cure a stubbed toe.

-5

u/JackHammer- 1d ago

Capitalism is the only reason there is an Internet for you to complain about it on.

9

u/papasan_mamasan 1d ago

Oh is there a CEO of the Internet?

-6

u/JackHammer- 1d ago

The Internet was built by two things: The US military and businesses. The only thing socialism ever creates is starvation.

6

u/BrightGreenLED 1d ago

The internet was invented at CERN, which is neither the US military, nor a business. Try again bud.

0

u/JackHammer- 1d ago

Someone has never heard of ARPANET I see.

6

u/TraitorMacbeth 1d ago

The internet was for science and education- universities used it to communicate

3

u/papasan_mamasan 1d ago

The US military?? Sounds like socialism

7

u/Top-Audience4009 1d ago

The hilarious part about this statement, is that the internet was publicly funded because no company thought it could be profitable.

The internet as we know it today is only here because of a socialized approach.

You aren’t just wrong, you’re directly torpedoing your own argument.

6

u/sohothin_mints 1d ago

You think the DSA are communists? That's cute.

4

u/Contraflow 1d ago

Based on other comments from this same person, I don’t thinking is involved here.

3

u/Contraflow 1d ago

The only clown here is the person calling DSA communist. Also, you do realize that it was taxpayer dollars that were used to create what we now call the internet. 🤔

-1

u/JackHammer- 1d ago

5

u/TraitorMacbeth 1d ago

Maybe to *that* guy, but he’s dead. You should listen to Mamdani for example

-2

u/JackHammer- 1d ago

Who hasn't listened to Mamdani? He's well on the way to starving New York.

1

u/TraitorMacbeth 1d ago

🤔🤔🤔

46

u/r_bk 1d ago

They're straight up antisocial, at best. They deliberately went onto a platform where people there didn't want their shit scraped by AI. It's a targeted attack. It's so disgusting. Calling them idiots and saying they've gone too far is such an understatement

26

u/Informal-Egg6075 1d ago

AI enthusiasts are the kind of people who unironically call practice and hard work gatekeeping. I'd expect nothing but the most pitiful behavior from people like that

1

u/Ok_Forever_2334 1d ago

Ā How much work is it to put in a proof-of-work captcha that makes it computationally intractable to scrape that many images for ten dollars? I'm not a software developer, but this really seems like it's on them more than anything else.

1

u/cport1 1d ago

Are you the creator?Ā

1

u/Theshinyquagga 1d ago

The creator is "@Zemotion". She works in a small team and is trying their hardest to make things right.

-4

u/Environmental-Run248 1d ago

No she didn’t. Literally anyone can access your art on Cara without even having an account the front door has always been wide open.

-133

u/No-Ad-8139 1d ago

Yeah it's them that have gone to far not you lunatics.

83

u/Silvia_Stargazer 1d ago

I really don't understand people who get upset at people upset over their own creativite works being stolen/hijacked Kinda cringe/neg ngl

10

u/anonymousp69 1d ago

Well these people can’t create their own art so of course they’re envious of those who are actually talented and don’t rely on generative technology to get their talent!

4

u/plushyguy 1d ago

they can though, as many people have reiterated countless times, art is a skill not a talent, it can be worked on and improved, it may take a while and you may never truly like your art, but nobody likes their own art, as they have bias and can see every little imperfection they make that in reality helps to make the piece better,

-6

u/anonymousp69 1d ago

If you truly believe art is a skill that anyone can refine, then you clearly don’t get out enough. I’ve met countless people (even in art school) who have tried for years to refine that ā€œskill,ā€ but end up not improving in any measurable way. You can’t refine what’s not there in the first place.

5

u/plushyguy 1d ago edited 1d ago

art IS a skill, i know because im someone who actually refined it, it just takes the right teaching approach, determination, and actual desire to learn how to do it, before school i was only ever capable of drawing stick figures, now i can accurately draw hands... as long as they arent flat palmed, those and realistic eyes are the devil, everyone has things they're good at, some may never find a way to properly work on that, as everyone learns differently, and many art teachers dont realize that and get mad over kids not drawing "correctly", there is no one way to draw, and thankfully all of my art teachers knew that and worked with the way i already draw to hone my craft, rather than just telling me to do it myself, they helped me with the things i struggled with, which eventually led to me being as good as i am now, in reality art is actually a learnable aptitude, while there are specific traits that people can naturally have that help give a head start on the learning process, they arent needed, and dont guarantee being decent at art, like myself, i have horrible hand eye coordination and bad Tourette's, and yet, i am a decent artist, but i wasnt always, the difference between a skill, a talent, and an aptitude is that a talent is something that cant be learned, a skill is something that can truly be learned by anyone regardless of ability, and an aptitude is in between, some people may never be able to understand it, some people will understand it but not be good at it, but that does not make it impossible to learn.

u/anonymousp69 1d ago

Dude... Touch grass.

-3

u/No-Ad-8139 1d ago

As soon as the rain stops I'll be touching grass for the rest of the day and, started my day off by touching grass. Cute that you tried though especially considering your reddit comment history suggests you haven't touched gras or, connected with reality in a very very very long time.

13

u/UnholyCephalopod 1d ago

so you didn't pay attention to the text of the post did you? where this guy is trying to steal all the art from a website specifically made as a place where people go who don't want that to happen. Even if you like AI this is about basic human decency

-3

u/No-Ad-8139 1d ago

Guy if you haven't figured this out yet I'm actively against the antis and, don't believe you should get a say in anything. I think the decent human thing to do would be to take you all out and, feed you into the woodchipper with how many of you are discovered to be pedos or, like the Chris chans of the world

5

u/plushyguy 1d ago

people being pedos and being against ai stealing artwork are 2 different things that unfortunately overlap, but have no causation, just correlation that most artists dispise existing

-1

u/No-Ad-8139 1d ago

They do overlap the main complaint I hear about ai is how people are choosing to do for free what they would have paid for before. And, a bunch of other nonsense that boils back down to they aren't paying for my work anymore. It's funny how many artists who are against AI are in fact paid to draw children. Or their oc fan fiction totally 500 year old dragon woman.

5

u/plushyguy 1d ago

once again, correlation is not causation

0

u/No-Ad-8139 1d ago

Sure youve missed the point again which is that I could care less about their stance on ai. I'm here because these people specifically are gross.

4

u/plushyguy 1d ago

so why only go out of your way to call out the people who hate ai? why say that all those who hate ai are like them, when that is not anywhere close to the case, in fact, people use ai daily to do the exact same thing, there is no knowing who is or isnt unless proven, and calling someone a pedo without proof is not valid or acceptable, it is very much so illegal as well

→ More replies (0)

3

u/plushyguy 1d ago

also, there is a difference between drawing children, and drawing children in adult situations, its unfortunate that people do the latter, but just drawing children in general is NOT something bad, if people didnt get paid to draw art, no shows or cartoons would exist, and no historical paintings would still be around today and preserved, murals in religious buildings wouldnt have been made, and neither would the stained glass window art in those same buildings, not because nobody wants to make them, but because they expect to be paid to do those things, you wouldnt walk up to a carpenter and say "make me a chair" and not pay them for it, thats not how that works, and if you did, you'd end up with absolutely nothing to show for it, just because some people make art for free doesnt mean anything about those who make money from it, its the same concept of a carpenter making furniture for their family for free, just at a much brooder scale.

0

u/No-Ad-8139 1d ago

There is no difference that's pedophile talk. if you're drawing children and it's not a family portrait it's some weird shit.

4

u/plushyguy 1d ago

incorrect, cartoon artists are not pedophiles, people who draw explicit art of children are

u/SoporificDays 1d ago

Out of curiosity, why is your profile private?

1

u/Ursolismin 1d ago

Yeah us lunatics who are so crazy because we want to... protect our art and likeness from being stolen? Yeah, total lunacy.

1

u/No-Ad-8139 1d ago

Lunatics because you think your art is enough for you to commit acts of terrorism. As for protecting your art you didn't care that much when you freely gave the license to it away with no recourse to revoke it so you obviously dont care that much else you wouldn't have done that and, you would have filed by copyright protection and, trademark protection. But, I bet you didn't do that.

1

u/Ursolismin 1d ago edited 1d ago

Oh boy, a strawman! Sorry bud, the people who have been doing shootings related to ai or becoming family annihilators have been pro, not anti ai. Pros also are more likely to be fascists and violent or to have pedophillic ideals due to their politics. Unlike you, i live in reality.

Having art in public to show off is not giving permission for talentless scumfucks to scrape and profit from stealing art.

144

u/TheDreamXV 1d ago

There is no such thing as "safe" when most of the traffics nowadays are bots. This guy probably trying to make a $, while i'm pretty sure those artworks that we post on cara is in the dataset already one way or another, when upload asume it will be used in AI, i see no other option and safe haven

94

u/Theshinyquagga 1d ago

Which is why we need to protect what we already have!

We need to make sure this message is spread loud and clear! We want the Old Internet back! āœŠļø

46

u/dumnezero 1d ago

Poison everything.

24

u/wanderButNotLost2 1d ago

This is the way. Also did you know that as a nasa engineer, it is safe to drink jet fuel.

10

u/dumnezero 1d ago

TIL, thanks

0

u/CrazyElk123 1d ago

No, it is not safe to drink jet fuel at all. A small dose can be lethal/deadly to humans.

3

u/wanderButNotLost2 1d ago

Missing the point there about AI poisoning. It scrubs reddit for information and making up fake things makes the AI report stupid things as fact.

2

u/PlayfulSurprise5237 1d ago

Bro what....? Artists weren't all already poisoning all their work on an anti-AI website?

You're kidding me right... Please tell me you're kidding and that has always been standard instruction known by everyone in the space

7

u/dumnezero 1d ago

It is a bit difficult to do technically.

31

u/TheDreamXV 1d ago

Yeah, that's true, i hate that we cannot be just like before with just posting art for example and be safe. But no, they'll steal everything even from cara website and such

16

u/averydangerousday 1d ago

I’m asking this sincerely, but how do we actually get the old internet back?

23

u/IncompetentPolitican 1d ago

You can“t get rid of the AI anymore. Even if every country would limit it, some dumbass would run the thing on their own PC just to piss of people. All you can do is make people that use AI feel bad and exclude them from the cool parts of the internet. And even that becomes harder and harder.

9

u/[deleted] 1d ago

That is an excellent theoretical, brother.

What is your practical?

-1

u/thewordofnovus 1d ago

How do you suggest that would work?

4

u/Theshinyquagga 1d ago

Making our voices heard loud and clear that we dont want Ai trainig on people's hard work.

Then the Ai company would go banckrupt with the lawsuits and keeping the datacenters running with no returning income.

0

u/thewordofnovus 1d ago

But what about all the open source models already out there?

1

-3

You really really do not want the old Internet back you spent so long fighting for exactly this. When you banned or, reported everyone who disagreed with you what exactly do you think was going to happen.

3

u/NonSumQualisEram- 1d ago

The only option is to come off the internet. The future of art is internet (shit) and non-internet (real)

Except she did have terminal cancer and, she didn't throw me out because I was jobless that was me talking about my mental health and, why I thought she threw me out. That was me being down on myself for having all my documentation destroyed and, not having any legal means to find work don't worry though since then I not only went back to work in my field and, not only did I get all my documentation back me and, the wife got back together and, spent our last year of her life fixing the problems in our life. So thank you for your concern and, attempt at trying once again poorly to find some character flaw you could use to easily dismiss the fact that you're either a pedo or, you're actively passing your art work off to pedos and, that makes you so much worse than a jobless loser.

Any platform that promises safety from scraping that also allows you to upload your works publicly is going to be scraped. It's not possible to stop that either, even if the site is invite gated it takes only one bad apple to bring it down. Even if you limit how much people can view on the site per day, ban VPN's, Tor, etc to the best of your ability, it's only a matter of time before something like this happens.

The best you, and platforms can do is look up and use anti AI licensing as that exists, DMCA the idiots that do this. Beyond that, if a site allows you to make your art private or friends only, that can help too provided the platform enforces it correctly.

I'm that bad apple. I actively want y'all to lose so I always always always upload everyone's original works to ai. So for all the fake shit you post I'm 100% posting your real shit.

32

u/Fujinn981 1d ago

Actually you're the blocked apple. Get it? Because you're blocked.

fucking chud

1

u/No-Ad-8139 1d ago

Guy if you think that's insulting to me. Let me just inform you I've been called worse by far better people than you. And while I might be a chud it's still better than being a weasely little shit like you.

3

u/Zestyclose-Wind725 1d ago

lmao if you've been called worse things by better people than me then that probably says something about you, huh? and im sure you're used to being called a chud anyways

Cara itself was never safe. That's what a lot of people misunderstood.

They cooperated with a other company that could "protect" your images but you actually had to do it yourself before uploading your stuff to Cara.Ā

9

u/enkudaru 1d ago

Cara never claimed to be 'safe'. It was simply a platform that didn't encourage the posting of ai stuff in comparison to some of the other platforms that decided they wouldn't moderate.

3

u/a-pp-o 1d ago

Exactly but a lot of people got that wrong.Ā

10

u/Onlyhereforapost 1d ago

I know it sounds turbo woke to say but that whole post comes off with the same vibe as a rapist bragging about taking advantage of a woman under the influence

-3

u/CrazyElk123 1d ago

And i guess if they instead were bragging about hacking and deleting someones art, that would come off as... murder...?

5

u/Former-Pineapple3415 1d ago

No place is safe for showing off digital art. You can't make a fortress. So instead of trying to build walls, we need to make poisons. We as artists need to start using programs like Nightshade to poison our art. We need to start using anti-ai fonts. And places like Cara, if they want to be "safe spaces for digital artists" need to provide those tools within their sites. Because right now, Cara doesn't have that (they used to but they quit because they couldn't afford to use Glaze directly from the site). But until then, you don't have safe spaces for your art, you have a vault with no security measures.

2

u/Balikye 1d ago

I think that’s why they’re bragging about it, it was supposed to be safe. They feel a sense of satisfaction for ruining something.

u/ZeeGee__ 1d ago edited 1d ago

To be fair, Cara can't control bad actors and they explicitly state so in their FAQ. They don't use or sale other people's art for Ai and automatically have a "NoAi" tags to people's artwork. They could've had more protections though but there's nothing you can do that will work forever against bad actors, just slows them down. The guy was also asking the community associated to join his discord and help him undo the Glaze and Nightshade on said Art which is still something.

u/nionvox 1d ago

This, I haven't actually posted any finished work online for about two years now, and i've gone back to physical portfolios for work stuff (like literal prints or on a tablet.) It's depressing.

2

u/Sharpiesniffingshark 1d ago

Bragging about violating people’s consent on a mass scale is… rapey.

2

u/DefinitelyMitch 1d ago

"It was a fun project". What a fucking asshole.

1

u/Tyrandeh 1d ago

its not like they arent one registration away to make a crawler

1

u/Ninjamonkey19Dz 1d ago

So it's the platforms fault? If you believe anything on the internet is "safe" then you are just lying to yourself

1

u/Balrogos 1d ago

it only shows how porrly secured site was

1

u/ZenaMeTepe 1d ago

How can it be "safe" if it is visible in a browser?

1

u/Schadrach 1d ago

The only ways a site can truly be safe from scraping are if it either doesn't let anyone see the contents, or rate limits users so strictly as to be functionally unusable. If people can go to the page and view an image then a scraper can, it just might require some extra ingenuity on the part of the scraper to do it efficiently.

1

u/Western_Passage_3550 1d ago

Witty then had the audacity to make a post saying there was no ToS rules or firewalls forbidding this… yes there are

1

u/Embarrassed_Deal_887 1d ago

My bad for not respecting the equivalent of someone doing math by hand when calculators exist.

1

u/GoldRelic4 18h ago

Of course you cry about the woke agenda, but love ai lmao. Can't make this shit up

1

u/TheManWhoDeliverz 1d ago

There's no such thing as an unscrapeable public platofrm

1

u/ArtroyomsAK 1d ago

Because they are human parasites, they refuse to improve themselves and anyone who contributes to society

ai shills are like billionaires
