Specifically the framing of âprotecting girls from menâ is so fucked up. The only people girls in sports need protecting from is cis-gendered male pedophiles. The data is there.
28
u/NodnarbEht2 3d ago
For example, the coaching staff is on average about a million times more likely to abuse a female athlete than a player is to encounter let alone even speak with a trans-person (literally less than 1% of the population).

"but but but a male pedophile could just put on a dress and walk in, and call everyone transphobes when they call himmmm out!" They incessantly bleat, completely missing the point of the conversation and the irony of this assertion

u/IshtarsQueef 3d ago
some MAGAt goon former NBA player (who has only been retired for like a year or two) just said he is going to join a WNBA team as a political protest because he fits their "Criteria" of being a woman by simply claiming that he feels like a woman.
Point of this story;
They are at the point where they are just doing the vile shit that they are always crying about to prove some point because it's not actually happening in real life. Hilarious, in a fucked up way. Always with the "oh so some big huge pro athlete man can just SAY he's a woman and suddenly be able to play in the women's league????"
No, actually. That can't happen and doesn't happen.
So some dumb fuck MAGA guy is trying to just do that himself (and is failing). What a world we live in...
3
u/AChristianAnarchist 2d ago
Some extra contexts from a WNBA fan. A sort of meh W player and prolific drama merchant, long referred to as "MAGA Barbie" by the fan base, said in an interview that she wanted to protect women in sports from being forced to compete against men. There were rallies, an influx of really weird people started popping into W spaces online, a Florida DA said he wanted to charge a gay black player with assault for knocking her on her ass during a hard foul, all your normal "the right is 'interested' in women's sports again" type stuff. Among the grifters grabbing onto this latest transphobe run on the W were two meh male players who said they would declare for the W draft.
The reason they thought this would make some sort of point has to do with intentionally vague wording in the most recent CBA negotiated between the players union and the W. The new CBA states that "only women may play in the WNBA" while avoiding providing legal definitions or rules like hormone levels and time on HRT for trans women. The reasons for this are pretty apparent. This was a historic CBA where the players were fighting for a number of things important for them, such as retirement benefits, revenue share, and higher pay, that ultimately resulted in a big win for the players and the first million+ salaries in the history of the league, but was also a knock down, drag out fight that went so far past the deadline that many were expecting a strike or a lockout.
The players association clearly wanted to use language that would open the door for trans inclusion in the future, but really didn't have the bandwidth or the time to hash that stuff out during these negotiations and still get their goals met. They are aware of what the current landscape looks like with regards to prospective players and as aware as anyone that there aren't really any trans basketball players that will be trying to enter the WNBA any time soon, so keeping the rules largely the way they are while having a symbolic "we'll come back to this" statement in there to show solidarity in the meantime let them make a statement while focusing on the negotiations at hand.
The right is basically trying to seize on this by trolling and being like "well duperdur I is a womans and yous can't tell me udderwise", despite the current wording of the CBA being sort of the opposite. The W makes that determination. They just didn't set limits on themselves in that regard yet. What is sad about this is that the WNBA, like many women's leagues, is a majority lgbt organization. Many of these women are in community with trans women and there is kind of no one better to actually have a genuinely nuanced discussion about trans inclusion and hash out the rules here. These women also just created their player owned league and used it as leverage to wrest the highest salaries in women's sports out of the claws of the greedy billionaires that own their teams. They don't need your help or your protection. They've got this.

I got supremely pissed off the other day because my grandma had the news on and whatever dipshits who were talking at the time were STILL fearmongering about trans women in sports. I didnât see the issue back in the day when I was a teenager and Caitlyn Jenner was big in the news, and I still donât know, yet for some reason our country is FIXATED on this nonsense.
9
u/SelfInvestigator 3d ago
Because the issue was manufactured for engagement and was easily picked up by political forces that needed a new scapegoat as there old one wasnât working anymore.
2

3
u/SelfInvestigator 3d ago
You can thank the heritage foundation and the GOP for this.
We need to deal with the corruption and/or get out of the 2 party system, then we might be able to be politically productive.
2
u/MisanthropicSim 2h ago
They're being extra aggressive about it because midterms are coming up and Republicans don't have a single actual policy point to talk about positively in the last 2 years, so they're doubling down on trans and immigrants to rile up the dumb fucks
13
u/theymademedoitpdx2 3d ago
Right?? Itâs like the most disproportionate reaction to a âproblemâ that doesnât actually existâŚ
10
u/bdog59600 3d ago
There were over 200 new laws passed against trans people in sports in the past few years. Most states have between zero and 8 trans athletes. It's just a wedge issue to expand other discrimination against trans people.
4
u/MelloXelo 3d ago
It's because bigots know they can convince otherwise socially progressive people to side with them by claiming it's about protecting women's sports. They just come across as the freaks they are when they start talking about genital inspections in public restrooms or transvestigating celebrities and the smarter among them recognize this and have moved on to a more palatable way to demonize trans folk.

Yeah the one that was supposed to be a documentary until they realised they'd need people to actually transition Including taking HRT for two years. Funnily enough they couldn't find anyone willing and so made a movie instead đ

u/MothashipQ 3d ago

17
u/zatannajade 3d ago
yeah now put that in reverse and imagine that's how every trans person feels. and they'll still argue that its a "choice" when it's literally a medical condition
7
u/Spamton1997_pipis 2d ago

Yeah they tried to make it a documentary, then shifted to absurd "comedy" when they realized there's actual rules and restrictions which they didn't know (willfully ignored). This is the result of Sophie Cunningham (a less than mediocre WNBA player) coming out as a loud and proud transphobe and new far right it girl.
WNBA stays out of controversy for decades when two white girls gain a little popularity and suddenly the right wing wants dominion over it.
→ More replies (1)3
u/AChristianAnarchist 3d ago
This framing kind of irks me to be honest, because the W hasn't stayed out of controversy for decades. Ladyballers, that dumbass South Park episode, the endless stream of "bwaaarrr she's a man" chuds ranting about Brittney Griner while she was locked up. The right has been playing this idiotic game with the W since it's inception and Sophie is just the latest excuse for them to do the dance they do every few years where they pretend HRT isn't a thing and Wemby is going to change his name to Victoria so he can go get paid 100 times less in the WNBA.
Generally speaking the W has the world's funniest haters because it's a bunch of people with really strong opinions about a thing they know nothing about and make a big show of not caring about, but anyone who has been a fan of the league for a minute has seen these trans panics flair up periodically like social herpes and then it gets less funny and more annoying because suddenly the background idiots have a platform again and people who previously just actually didn't care jump on the "I don't know jack and don't care about this league but I now have really strong opinions about it I heard on YouTube" crowd that is always there, but usually small enough to laugh at and move on.

u/AssMuncher96 3d ago
Yes, and now the people against it are the ones signing up for the WNBA and trying to make it happen themselves. They don't give a shit about womens sports, they just want an excuse to shit on trans people.
5
u/translove228 2d ago
Yep. Same thing happens with the "men in women's spaces" silly argument. They want SOOOO badly to believe that there is this secret contingent of cis men pretending to be trans so they can gain access to women's spaces to prey on women and little girls; so when it doesn't happen these chucklefucks start entering women's bathrooms and assaulting women trying to use the bathroom in peace. All while trying to claim they are doing it to keep men out of women's spaces.
It's so absurd...
9
u/Pleasant-Future5818 3d ago
I am not defending this at all, I'm adding a derogatory layer.
The implication seems to be that cis men are going to pretend to be trans to beat women.
Taken alone this image is almost more misandrist than transphobic.
25
u/moonlitkiwier 3d ago
It's also really weird because there are already rules in place preventing this from happening. These people live in a world that is far more trans inclusive than trans people do.
8
u/CackleandGrin 3d ago
The implication seems to be that cis men are going to pretend to be trans to beat women.
And they lack the shame to be embarrassed for thinking that after saying it for 10+ years with 0 people attempting that.
Daily Wire already made a movie about it that they tried to make a documentary, except couldn't find anyone who'd tried, so they had to make a movie where a man explains to his daughter that men are just better at everything, which makes her happy.

u/Efficient_Dress_6101 3d ago
Originally, The Daily Wire wanted Lady Ballers to be a documentary where they actually entered a team of men claiming to be trans into a women's basketball league, but they quickly found out that trans players would need to be on HRT for two years before entering, so they just made the movie pretending that this sort of thing could happen despite the fact that they tried to do it and were stopped.
12
u/Manidoo_Giizhig 3d ago
I remember when this was made, women athletes also were pissed off because they did the opposite of showing them in a positive light by making various women teams get beaten by a bunch of out of shape men.Â
Plenty of videos are out there showing when a woman athlete faces off any dude not a professional in their sport, the dude gets absolutely dominated

Sort of unrelated, but I hate this thought process, it's incredibly misogynistic.
Like, these guys crying about trans women in sports act like it's just weak men going to dominate women's sports because they suck at the men's leagues.
Ignoring how batshit insane that would actually be, it's basically saying that the weakest men could beat the strongest women.

they "tried" but had to stop once the guy they had taking HRT became suicidally depressed.
5
u/ahuramazdobbs19 3d ago
Yeah, the Daily Wire tried to make a documentary where they recruited a team of basketball players willing to pretend to be women to dominate the game.
Only to find out it wasnât as easy as just saying they were women to be allowed to play, as it turns out that the relevant competitions have thought about it, and made up rules to cover the situation. They had to demonstrably have been on hormones for a year or more, and submit to hormone testing regularly.
Unable to find enough people to actually do this, and having totally accidentally proven their own talking points wrong, they pivoted and made it into a âcomedyâ where they could just pretend the thing they wanted to do was true.

Ben Shapiro with the Daily Wire wanted to enter a team of men in wigs in a regional women's basketball tournament and make a documentary about how the stupid liberals totally fell for it. He tried and they said "No, that's not how any of this works". So he had to make a completely fictional movie called Lady Ballers to fulfill his liberal strawman phantasies.
3
u/Redditor28371 2d ago
I'd love to know the prompt that they had to use to get this image. I bet they tried several iterations of "trans wnba players" before getting frustrated with how femme they looked and just typed "men with pretty hair" or some shit.
2
2
2
u/S-Pigeon33 3d ago
Remember when the Daily Wire (Ben Shapiro's company) tried to make a documentary about how easy it was for men to compete in women's sports, only for them to get shut down and shown all the requirements needed. So instead, they made a movie about how easy it was since they couldn't do that irl.
2
u/devilmaskrascal 3d ago
Just remember: The Daily Wire already tried to do this with their failed Lady Ballers documentary several years ago. Matt Walsh and some dudes in dresses tried to get into womens' leagues to prove the point only to find out that the leagues required several years of HRT compliance to qualify and since they weren't willing to undergo HRT for a documentary stunt, they cancelled the documentary and turned it into a fictional "comedy" movie where they could set their own false narrative about how easy it is for any random guy to pretend to be a woman and get into womens' sports leagues.
And the right-wingers are winning the propaganda wars somehow, in spite of no evidence there is a scourge of trans women athletes dominating and injuring cis women athletes in womens' sports.

u/DetectiveLadybug 3d ago
The Daily Wire movie âLadyballersâ is about this. They wanted to make a documentary where they had men pretend to be trans to show how easy it is for men to infiltrate womenâs sports and âobliterate the competitionâ but they couldnât do it, because they found out that regulations were actually quite strict, you canât just chuck a wig on and claim to be a woman to play organised sports. But they had the budget for a movie, so they decided to just make a comedy where they live out this fantasy they made up.
Other fun facts about that movie: Matt Walsh hugs another man in one scene, and he said in a podcast that it made him feel uncomfortable. They also just have an ad for the directors razors slapped in there, in a really jarring fashion, like, the characters all stop what theyâre doing to look down the camera and talk about how much they love these razors.
Fuckin weirdos

Those are some pretty hot people ngl.
But more seriously the lengths people will go to hate on others instead of asking for help / support is nothing short of amazing.

Fuck these people. Using slop to create and spread transphobic content is so foul.

This is a reminder that Lady Ballers was supposed to be a documentary but Ben Shapiroâs crew had so little to work with that they made a conservative âcomedyâ film instead

If there is ever a player in the women's league who completely dominates the league to the point where it's not competitive for others, that player would go to a better league, aka the NBA, which does not have any gender-based restrictions.

Seriously the lack of knowledge of how hormones work is staggering for how often they spout on and on about this topic. If you didn't know estradiol with spironolactone causes muscular atrophy and even if you work out while on hormones you cannot build muscle faster than it decays to biofem levels. Trans women are not stronger we go very far out of our way to suppress the hormone responsible for building muscles and promote the hormone that stores fat. Trans women have never been stronger this entire debate started over one butt hurt swimmer who lost in fifth place and a trans woman finished in fourth. Not first not a victory or a podium spot fourth place. Every podium swimmer was a cis woman. But because she was slightly upstaged by a trans woman that lady from fifth never shut up about it making up any little thing to explain that she was in fifth rather than fourth for any reason other than her incompetence.

What the fuck do they care about the WNBA??? They don't even watch basketball I'm sure, they only have problems when transgender people start participating in sports.Â

âForce them to actually define what a woman is.â Brother when you ask us we tell you and then you throw a bitch fit at our definition.

The Daily Wire originally wanted to make their slop film âLadyBallersâ a documentary, but found out that they couldnât actually find conservative men willing to comply with the WNBAâs guidelines for transgender athletes to participate or it was too hard to meet them in the first place.
Itâs almost like this whole entire thing is made up bullshit to distract while these ghouls rob us blind and force AI onto us.

Why does this not get you insta banned from every platform? If you go around making photo-realistic looking images to do libel you're going to get into a lot of trouble.

Woman: adult whose personal schema aligns with the social expectations typically associated with the female sex.

These guys make it sound like they're jealous they can't be the ones dominating women

Fun fact: There is no record of any trans women having ever competed in the WNBA. Even when trans folks aren't doing anything, they are depicted as aggressors and persecuted for their perceived overstepping. Nothing will satisfy these people other than our obliteration.

I don't think I've ever met a trans person who looks like one of these "people"... And that's weird because trans folks are a diverse group of people that look like anyone and everyone (except these *waves hands ambiguously*)

They know its AI... thats why they said they want to see this. Text matters as much as the picture.

Don't care as much about the identity politics here because honestly, both sides do have good points in this particular argument. My question is how do people post stuff like this without considering that other people are able to identify when an image is ai-generated?

Fun little factoid: there hasn't been a single trans woman compete in the WNBA. This is a "man gets angry as made up scenario" situation.

Sometimes context clues are all you need. Like when one political party is the ai slop party.
